Abstract

In the rapidly evolving era of globalization, children in Indonesia face significant challenges in preserving their local cultural identity. Several factors contribute to this, including low interest in literature based on local culture and the strong influence of global culture, which dominates children’s media and education. Local culture-based literacy is a solution to strengthen children’s cultural awareness and local identity. This study aims to analyze the role of local culture-based literacy in shaping children’s cultural identity amidst globalization. Additionally, it seeks to identify the challenges in implementing such literacy and explore potential solutions. The research method used is a literature review, collecting relevant scholarly articles on local culture-based literacy and children’s cultural identity. This study examines existing research findings to identify factors influencing the effectiveness of cultural literacy in strengthening children’s cultural identity in the globalization era. The results indicate that local culture-based literacy positively shapes children’s cultural identity. This literacy enhances pride in local culture, despite challenges such as low reading interest in culturally-based materials, limited access, and the influence of global culture, which remain significant obstacles. Furthermore, the use of technology and educator training can serve as solutions to address these challenges.

Abstract

For students, character education (character formation) for the next generation must be very important, especially in the increasingly advanced and developing digital era, so that students have good morals and character for the social life around them. Principal leadership plays a very important role in influencing, motivating, improving and empowering all existing resources to implement student character development in the digital era. The success of the principal in carrying out character education is determined by: first, firmness and discipline in fulfilling every character building order; second, the principal's leadership encourages teachers and other education personnel to carry out character education; third, creating a conducive school climate and culture; fourth, exemplary school principals in the implementation and success of character education for all school children. The leadership role of the headmaster is shown by example and personality which is reflected in his behavior, understanding, abilities and experience as an educational leader and school principal who is a role model for all school members, especially students to realize character education.

Abstract

This research aims to reveal how school management develops the professional competencies of teachers at SMP MMT Mercubuana Tulang Bawang Barat, focusing on two main issues: how planning is conducted and how the development is implemented. Teacher professional competence is an essential element in supporting the quality of education, thus requiring effective managerial leadership from the school principal. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection conducted through direct observation of the school conditions and teacher programs, in-depth interviews with the principal, vice principal, and selected teachers, as well as documentation from various school records and reports. The results indicate that in the planning stage, the principal formulates work programs based on an analysis of teachers' needs, performance evaluation results, and considerations of school policies and curriculum. These programs are developed through internal meetings and involve teacher participation. In terms of implementation, the principal coordinates activities such as training, routine mentoring, academic supervision, and providing opportunities for participation in professional development activities outside the school. This strategy is carried out continuously with a collaborative and humanistic approach. Challenges faced include budget limitations and uneven levels of teacher enthusiasm. However, these issues are addressed through intensive communication and personal motivation. Additionally, the principal strives to create an environment that supports teachers' professional development by recognizing achievements. The study concludes that the principal plays a crucial role in enhancing teacher professionalism through structured and participatory management. The development of teacher competencies is not only an individual responsibility but also a collaborative effort involving all elements within the school. It is hoped that this will contribute to the improvement of education quality at SMP MMT Mercubuana Tulang Bawang Barat.

Abstract

Pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) di sekolah dasar masih menghadapi permasalahan rendahnya aktivitas belajar siswa akibat dominannya metode pembelajaran konvensional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan metode small group discussion dalam meningkatkan aktivitas belajar siswa serta mengidentifikasi faktor pendukung dan penghambat dalam penerapannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus, masing-masing meliputi tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah 28 siswa kelas IV A SDN 01 Tri Tunggal Jaya tahun ajaran 2025/2026. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, dokumentasi, angket, serta tes hasil belajar berupa pre-test, post-test, dan evaluasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode small group discussion mampu meningkatkan aktivitas belajar siswa secara signifikan. Pada siklus I terjadi peningkatan nilai rata-rata dari 51,43 pada pre-test menjadi 67,14 pada post-test dan 64,46 pada evaluasi. Peningkatan yang lebih optimal terjadi pada siklus II dengan nilai rata-rata pre-test 55,36, post-test 67,14, dan evaluasi 75,08. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa metode small group discussion, yang didukung oleh penggunaan media dan teknik pembelajaran yang variatif, efektif dalam meningkatkan aktivitas belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam.

Abstract

Pengawasan sekolah yang efektif sangat penting untuk meningkatkan kinerja guru dan memastikan mutu proses belajar mengajar. Manajemen pengawasan yang kurang memadai oleh kepala sekolah dapat menurunkan motivasi dan efektivitas kerja guru, sehingga berdampak negatif pada hasil pendidikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh manajemen pengawasan kepala sekolah terhadap kinerja guru di SMK Kesehatan Bhakti Nusantara serta mengidentifikasi faktor yang mendukung dan menghambat pelaksanaannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survei. Peneliti mengumpulkan data melalui kuesioner berskala Likert dan membagikannya kepada guru di SMK Kesehatan Bhakti Nusantara. Peneliti menganalisis data secara deskriptif untuk menilai kualitas manajemen pengawasan dan hubungannya dengan kinerja guru. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa supervisi yang dilakukan kepala sekolah dalam proses belajar mengajar termasuk kategori baik, dengan persentase skor 25,95%. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa manajemen pengawasan yang efektif berkontribusi positif dalam meningkatkan kinerja guru melalui bimbingan, arahan, dan dukungan profesional. Kepala sekolah berperan penting dalam mendorong kinerja guru dan pengembangan profesional, yang dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Penguatan praktik pengawasan menjadi penting untuk menjaga mutu pendidikan secara berkelanjutan di sekolah kejuruan.

Abstract

This study aims to examine Munif Chatib's thoughts on educating Generation Z teenagers through the multiple intelligences approach. Generation Z, as digital natives, grow and develop amid rapid advances in information technology, digital media, and globalization, which have a major influence on their mindsets, behaviors, and learning styles. These conditions demand an educational model that not only emphasizes academic achievement and cognitive intelligence, but also develops the emotional, social, moral, and spiritual aspects of students in a balanced manner. Education oriented towards human values is very important so that Generation Z teenagers do not lose their identity amid the tide of modernization. Through his works such as Sekolahnya Manusia (School of Humans), Gurunya Manusia (Teachers of Humans), and Orangtuanya Manusia (Parents of Humans), Munif Chatib offers a humanistic, contextual, and learner-centered educational paradigm. He emphasizes that every child is born with different uniqueness, intelligence, and talents, so the educational process cannot be standardized. Munif Chatib's thinking is based on the theory of multiple intelligences proposed by Howard Gardner, which states that human intelligence is diverse and unique to each individual. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with a literature review approach. The results show that the multiple intelligences approach is relevant in the education of Generation Z adolescents because it can encourage character development, creativity, self-confidence, and a balance between academic and non-academic abilities. The role of teachers as facilitators, motivators, and mentors is key to the successful implementation of multiple intelligences-based education. Thus, multiple intelligences-based education can help Generation Z adolescents develop optimally as well-rounded individuals who are intelligent, have good character, and are adaptable to the challenges of the times.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of ethics in seeking knowledge in the book Ta'limul Muta'allim by Sheikh Az-Zarnuji and its relevance to the character education of male students at the Darul Ishlah Islamic Boarding School. This study was motivated by the phenomenon of moral decline among the younger generation, characterized by a decline in respect for teachers, weak discipline in learning, and low responsibility among students. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen classical Islamic ethical values as the foundation for sustainable character building. The research used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews with students, caregivers, and teachers, as well as documentation. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, with validity ensured through source and technique triangulation. The results of the study show that the concept of ethics in seeking knowledge in the Ta'limul Muta'allim book includes the values of sincere intentions for the sake of Allah, respect for teachers, discipline, sincerity, and consistency in seeking knowledge. These values are applied in an integrated manner at the Darul Ishlah Islamic Boarding School through habituation, exemplary behavior, and boarding school rules. Students are guided in academic, spiritual, and moral aspects. The application of ethical values in seeking knowledge has a positive impact on the character building of students, which is reflected in their religious attitudes, politeness, responsibility, discipline, and high enthusiasm for learning. Thus, the Ta'limul Muta'allim book has strong relevance as a reference for strengthening the character education of students in the modern era.
