Abstract

Abstract. Anemia in pregnancy remains a crucial public health issue in Indonesia, given its high incidence and serious implications for maternal and neonatal health. Low knowledge of nutritious diets and iron intake are major risk factors for anemia during pregnancy. This quasi-experimental study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of an educational intervention based on an anemia booklet accompanied by “Isi Piringku” stickers in improving the knowledge of pregnant women. Conducted in Mamuju Regency, this study involved 64 respondents who were divided into an intervention group (n=32) and a control group (n=32) using purposive sampling. The intervention group received four weeks of education using booklets and stickers, while the control group received conventional education through the Maternal and Child Health Handbook. Knowledge about anemia was measured before and after the intervention using questionnaires analyzed using the Mann–Whitney U and Wilcoxon Signed Ranks. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge in the intervention group compared to the control group (p<0.05), with a predominance of the “good” category after intervention, while the control group showed a more moderate increase. These findings confirm that educational media that integrate visual and informative elements simultaneously can facilitate understanding and retention of information by pregnant women.

Abstract

Anemia in Indonesia remains one of the public health issues that requires serious and sustained attention. Adolescent girls in puberty are at high risk of iron deficiency anemia. The purpose of this study was to identify factors associated with anemia in adolescent girls. A cross-sectional study design was used in this study. The study was conducted at a high school in the Kalampangan Community Health Center working area. The study was conducted in November 2024. The population consisted of female students at high schools in the Kalampangan Community Health Center working area. The sample consisted of 117 respondents. The sampling technique used was proportionate stratified random sampling. The research instrument used was a research questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate analysis. The results showed a relationship between iron tablet consumption compliance (p value: 0.000) and nutritional status (p value: 0.024) with the incidence of anemia in adolescents. It is recommended that the relevant health centers take further action, including developing intervention programs that cover education, support, and strategies to improve access to iron tablets at the school, family, and community levels. Keywords: Adolescents, Compliance, Nutritional Status

Abstract

The high prevalence of anemia among pregnant women remains a major public health problem that adversely affects maternal and neonatal health, particularly in areas with limited access to health information. Innovative digital-based educational media are needed to improve pregnant women’s understanding of anemia effectively. This study aimed to analyze the effect of digital flipbook-based health education on changes in anemia knowledge among pregnant women. This study employed a quasi-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test design conducted at Binanga and Bambu Primary Health Centers, Mamuju Regency, from May to December 2025. A total of 34 pregnant women were selected using purposive sampling based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Anemia knowledge was assessed using a structured questionnaire consisting of 12 questions administered before the intervention and two weeks after digital flipbook-based education. Data analysis was performed using the Paired Samples t-Test after confirming normal data distribution. The results showed that the mean anemia knowledge score increased from 9.44 ± 1.56 before the intervention to 10.76 ± 1.13 after the intervention. A statistically significant difference was observed between pre-test and post-test knowledge scores (t = 5.656; p < 0.001), with a mean difference of 1.32 points. Digital flipbook-based health education was proven effective in improving anemia knowledge among pregnant women and can be recommended as an alternative educational medium in maternal health services.
