The analysis technique using Confirmatory Factor Analysis. The results showed that the trend of food security in the aspect of food production, in the aspect of production value, has generally decreased, so that the fulfillment of food production is only eighty percent and shortages each year are met through imports from other countries. Welfare in the PSU is determined by confirmatory factors with the availability of agricultural land, then population and food security. Abstract

Community participation in governance is often emphasized but difficult to implement effectively. In rural development, meaningful participation is essential for sustainable outcomes. However, in practice, many development policies are still formulated in a top-down manner without adequate community involvement, making them less effective and mismatched with local needs. This study aims to analyze the mechanism of village development planning in Abuki District and evaluate the extent of community involvement in the process. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observation, document analysis, and in-depth interviews with village officials and community representatives. The findings indicate that the village development planning team, formed based on Minister of Home Affairs Regulation No. 114 of 2015, has not fulfilled its role optimally. Planning procedures are often simplified, and community participation remains minimal. In addition, coordination among village institutions is weak, leading to ineffective planning and implementation. This research highlights the need for more participatory and well-coordinated planning mechanisms to ensure that development programs align with the actual needs and aspirations of the rural population.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the key factors influencing sustainable regional development, particularly the expansion of urban spaces toward suburban areas. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through literature review and document analysis related to spatial planning, sustainability, and regional policies. The findings reveal six main factors that drive urban expansion: accessibility, public services, land characteristics, landowner behavior, regulatory frameworks, and developer initiatives. Areas with high accessibility and quality public services tend to attract population shifts from city centers to suburbs. Additionally, fertile land, proactive landowner behavior, supportive regulations, and strategic developer actions further contribute to suburban growth. Each of these factors interacts within the broader context of sustainable development, emphasizing the importance of balancing environmental preservation with socio-economic progress. The study provides a comprehensive understanding that can inform future spatial planning and policymaking for sustainable regional development.

However, the innovation of processing pineapple waste into “Wajik Crispy” crackers in Kampung Wajik, Pulo Brayan Bengkel Baru, offers a creative solution that not only increases economic value but also reduces environmental impacts. The processing of pineapple waste into “Wajik Crispy” crackers has demonstrated measurable impacts through comprehensive evaluation. Quantitative results confirm the program’s success: (1) Production aspect – processing capacity increased from 0 kg/week to 150 kg/week, (2) Environmental impact – pineapple waste volume decreased by 68.5% within three months, (3) Market response – the product reached 325 packages/month with a repurchase rate of 82%, (4) Community economy – the average income of partners rose by 47% from IDR 850,000/month to IDR 1,250,000/month, and (5) Community involvement – 20 active partners, initially only 5, are now able to produce independently. Quality achievements were also reflected in the average organoleptic test scores of 4.2/5 for taste and 4.5/5 for crispiness. A sustainable evaluation system through production logbooks and monthly meetings successfully maintained product consistency with a quality variation of ≤5% over six months of program implementation. Thus, the transformation of pineapple waste into value-added crackers not only supports the circular economy but also strengthens community resilience in Kampung Wajik.
