Abstract

Kata kunci: art therapy; gangguan jiwa; intervensi halusinasi; terapi kelompok; terapi modalitas AbstractThe Islamic Mental Hospital (RSJ) Klender, located in Duren Sawit District, East Jakarta City, is a healthcare facility focused on mental health services. The most prevalent mental health problem found in this hospital is hallucination, affecting approximately 93% of the total patients. Hallucinations are sensations perceived through the senses without any external stimulus and can lead to serious consequences such as loss of self-control, violent behavior, and even suicidal attempts. This program aimed to reduce the signs and symptoms of hallucinations through the implementation of group art therapy and to improve patients’ ability to redirect their attention from hallucinations to more positive and meaningful activities. The activity was conducted using a direct demonstration method of art therapy implementation. The program was carried out on July 8 and 10, 2025, consisting of two group therapy sessions attended by 10 patients diagnosed with hallucinations. Patients were encouraged to express their emotions and thoughts through drawing and coloring activities to help divert their focus from hallucinations. After two group art therapy sessions, patients showed a reduction in the signs and symptoms of hallucinations. In addition, the activity enhanced patients’ social interactions and positive emotional expressions during hospitalization. The implementation of group art therapy proved effective in helping patients with hallucinations reduce their symptoms while improving self-expression and social interaction skills. This intervention can serve as a supportive alternative in psychiatric nursing care within hospital settings. Keywords: art therapy; group therapy; hallucination management; mental health disorders; modality intervention
