Abstract

Postpartum mothers often experience psychological challenges such as stress, anxiety, and feelings of inadequacy, which may be intensified by the pervasive influence of social media. This community service program aimed to enhance the mental health of postpartum mothers in Tuban Regency through the application of mindfulness practices. The program employed a participatory approach involving posyandu cadres and village midwives, with a purposive sample of 30 postpartum mothers attending four weekly mindfulness sessions. Each session consisted of psychoeducation on mental health, guided mindfulness exercises, and group discussions, supported by daily home practice using audio recordings. Monitoring was conducted via a WhatsApp group, and evaluations were carried out using pre- and post-assessments with the DASS-21 instrument and participant feedback surveys. The results showed notable improvement in mental health outcomes: moderate stress decreased from 40% to 15%, mild anxiety from 30% to 10%, and mild depression from 10% to 3%, while normal conditions increased from 20% to 72%. Participants reported greater calmness, self-awareness, and emotional stability. In conclusion, mindfulness practice was found to be an effective and practical approach to improving the mental health of postpartum mothers, with strong potential for integration into community health services.

Abstract

Introduction: Divorce is a complex problem for  woman because it is an event that can cause psychological problems that have an impact on daily life causing stress. One way to deal with stress is to use the right coping stress strategy. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of coping stress strategies with stress levels in post-divorce women in the Tuban religious court. Methods : The study design uses correlation analytic with cross sectional time approach. The study population numbered 50 post-divorce women in the Tuban religious  according to inclusion and exclusion criteria, the research sample used simple random sampling totaling 42 respondents. The independent variable is the stress coping strategy, while the dependent variable is the stress level. The instruments used ware the revised Way of Coping Questionnaire (WOCQ) and (Depression Anxiety Stress Scales) DASS 42 questionnaire. Results : The results of study were almost 14 (33.3%) post-divorce women using  problem focused coping (PFC) coping strategies experienced mild levels of stress and a small percentage of 1 (2.4%) respondents used emotion focused coping (EFC) coping strategies severe stress level. Contingency coefficient test results obtained p = 0.004 if the value of α = 0.05, then p <α with moderate accuracy (c = 0.494). Conclusion : Based on the description, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between coping stress strategies and the level of stress in women after divorce in the Tuban religious court. Choosing the right coping stress strategy is very important to deal with stress levels in post-divorce women.

Abstract

Introduction: The success of breastfeeding is a critical indicator of comprehensive adaptation during the maternal transition. Existing theoretical models address maternal adaptation separately, resulting in a lack of integration in predicting breastfeeding success. This research aimed to develop and validate the Maternal Role Adaptation System Model (MRASM) using Structural Equation Modeling. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 150 postpartum women recruited through purposive sampling from five community health centers in East Java, Indonesia. Eight latent constructs measured using validated instruments: focal stimuli (breast pain, fatigue, nutrition), contextual stimuli (spousal and healthcare support, information access, economic status), residual stimuli (social norms, cultural values, beliefs), coping mechanisms, emotional responses, self-concept, role function, and breastfeeding success. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling with Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) via Smart-PLS 4.0. Results: The MRASM demonstrated excellent psychometric properties (Cronbach's α > 0.678, composite reliability > 0.802, AVE > 0.508). Environmental stimuli (focal, contextual, and residual) significantly influenced maternal coping mechanisms, which in turn affected emotional responses, self-concept, and role function. Emotional responses (β = 0.356, p = 0.001) and self-concept (β = 0.268, p<0.001) are the strongest predictors of breastfeeding success, explaining 26.7% of outcome variance. These findings provide healthcare professionals with specific intervention targets: managing physical symptoms, enhancing coping resources, and supporting maternal emotional well-being and self-efficacy. Conclusions: MRASM integrates Roy's and Mercer's models to address postpartum adaptation holistically, providing healthcare professionals with an evidence-based framework to support maternal role transition and breastfeeding success.
