Abstract

This article analyzes the footsteps of multiculturalism in North Bali by using as the object of analysis the Pura Pabean (Custom Temple) which is upheld by Hindus and Confucians. The analysis focuses on four things, the first, namely: describing the history of the founding of the Pabean Temple; the second regarding the form and function of the traces of multiculturalism in the Pabean Temple; the third the trace of multiculturalism in Pabean temple; and the fourth being the contribution of Pabean Temple in building multiculturalism in Bali. This study is a qualitative study whose data were collected using observation, interview, and literature review techniques. The data were analyzed using the theory of multiculturalism. The results of the analysis show that the Pabean Temple, which is believed to have been established in the 15th century, is historical evidence of multiculturalism that has been going on for a long time in Bali. This is also with the existence of two sacred buildings side by side in one temple area that is upheld, even though they are residents with different beliefs, namely Hinduism and Kong Hu Chu. This article provides a new contribution to the history and dynamics of multiculturalism that is maintained in Bali, especially from a temple called Pura Pabean in North Bali.

Abstract

The existence of upakara plants in Bali is increasingly rare. This happens because of the increasingly massive implementation of the ceremony and the community is less concerned about its preservation. On that basis, it is very urgent to plant upakara plants in Bali because in addition to supplying the need for ceremony materials, it is also a form of environmental preservation or conservation of rare plants. This work describes how the scarcity of these plants is along with the efforts to be made to overcome them. One effort that can be done is by replanting and then inspiring everyone to realize that planting upakara plants both in the yard and in the form of a gumi banten garden is very important. Bali will look beautiful if this upakara plant is planted in every yard because it also acts as an ornamental plant. I Gusti Bagus Sugriwa's Doctoral Program at UHN, through community service, seeks to inspire the youth at the Gandhi Puri Ashram about the importance of this upakara plant and directly plant upakara plants at the Ashram location. Through this program, it is hoped that the land in the Gandhi Puri Ashram will be overgrown with various types of upakara plants and the awareness of the residents to actively plant upakara plants and inspire others to actively contribute to preserving the rarer upakara plants.

Abstract

Names are essential in society, with interactions starting by mentioning names. Parents give names to their children differently across regions, tribes, and clans, often involving rituals and traditions. The Hindu community of West Lombok Regency has a naming tradition called Ngekehin, performed for babies who are 12 or 42 days old. This unique tradition uses 11 rolled papers with different names stuck in ash and pis bolong within a tamas. The Ngekehin tradition is still practiced across generations, though many do not understand its theological significance. Qualitative research, involving primary and secondary data sources, was conducted to gather information. Informants were selected through purposive sampling, and data collection methods included observation, interviews, and documentation. Research shows that the upakara procession in Ngekehin holds many meanings, particularly theological. The rolling fire in the tradition implies worship of Lord Agni, a deity revered since the Vedic era. In Ngekehin, Lord Agni serves as: 1) The leader of the naming ceremony, 2) An intermediary between the worshipper and the Almighty, giving a "sign" through the lintingan fire indicating the suitable name, chosen from the first or last burning lintingan, 3) A witness to the chosen name, 4) A purifier of mala/impurities since the 12-day baby ceremony is the first "cleansing" in the life cycle, and 5) A remover of previous karmawasana sins.

Abstract

The symbols in Hinduism are closely related and inseparable from the doctrine of the Divine (Hindu theology), because the symbols are expressions for bringing people closer to Him. They are arches or prefaces for the gods, the wheel of gods or the vehicle of the Gods, sacred buildings for the worshippers to worship Him. However, before we talk further, there is an idea that a city that was once a symbol of the kingdom now becomes the center of the district/city of the concept this is called Catus patha. Generally speaking, Catus Patha is the face of chess in which almost the entire Hindu community of Bali strongly believes that who sits on Catus pathha is Sanghyang Catur Bhuana, However, the catus patha that stands in the City of Bangli is a statue using the symbol Tri Murti. This research belongs to qualitative research with descriptive analysis with an experimental approach so that the researcher is the key instrument. Data collection techniques are triangulated, data analysis is inductive and the results of qualitative research emphasize meaning rather than generalization. The primary data source is from the results of field observations and in-depth interviews with the Sulinggih and Pinandita who are considered to know the research in this research. The informants are determined purposively sampling, that is to say, against those who really are in it. From the results of the analysis obtained Catus Patha the great in Bangli City is still an icon of government where there are still elements such as Puri (Istana), Wantilan (public open space), alun-alun (green open area), and Peken (market) despite some changes in the present day. As the center of the ceremony of the Yadnya, such as the tawur agung, ngerebeg, the naggluk merana, the ngulapin and other ceremonies, and in the sphere of society there is little controversy, among which are symbols less relevant to the other Catus Patha Agung. The statue of the Catus Patha Agung in the district of Bangli that the symbol is displayed in the symbol of the triumvirate, while according to some scribes and generally the Catus Patha Agung sthana Shang Hyang Chatur Bhuana is identified with the face or four-faced chess.

Meanwhile, solutions for internal obstacles are overcome by making decisions directly in the prajuru internal procession, to implementing Awig-awig in a straightforward and firm manner. Furthermore, external obstacles, the solution is to return to educating the public about the importance of the existence of prawayah. The effort to choose prawayah with katepak widhi is also considered as one of education. The implications of this communication strategy, have a positive or negative impact. The positive impact is that filling in the prawayah is filled again, selecting the next prawayah becomes easier, the implementation of religious ceremonies in the Timbrah Traditional Village becomes smoother. Residents' awareness is also growing towards the importance of the existence of prawayah. The negative impact is that prajuru do not get the ideal human resources to become prawayah. The adaptation process as prawayah is relatively longer, because you have to start from scratch. The level of public trust and confidence in prawayah as the leader of religious rituals and the enlightener of the people has decreased. Keywords: Communication Strategy, Prajuru, Prawayah

Abstract

This study was conducted to analyze Sadharanikaran communication dialogue as a strategy to enhance brand awareness at Bali Silent Retreat. The paradigm used is constructivist with a qualitative research approach. The theories employed are Kotler & Armstrong's Marketing Mix and the Sadharanikaran Model of Communication, with data analysis using Ethnographic Content Analysis (ECA). Bali Silent Retreat is a recreational and spiritual retreat destination that offers experiences of meditation, reflection, and healing in a serene and natural environment on the island of Bali, Indonesia. Bali Silent Retreat's marketing communication strategy to enhance brand awareness considers four factors: product, place, promotion, and price. In the Sadharanikaran communication model, sahridaya preshaka (the sender) and sahridaya prapaka (the receiver) share rasa (emotion), bhava (a state of calm and good mind and heart), and sandesha (message delivery) using specific methods and involving a feedback process (pratikriya). This process builds Abhivyanjana (expression, interpretation) of the formed thoughts, leading to Rasaswadana, which interprets the message to achieve shared feelings. This directly enhances social engagement and customer retention, thereby increasing brand awareness.

Abstract

One of the areas inhabited by the Bugis tribe in South Sulawesi is Sidenreng Rappang Regency. The Bugis tribe has various traditions or customs spread across several areas in South Sulawesi Province, such as Sidrap Regency, which to this day still maintains its traditional harvest festival traditions which are now starting to be forgotten along with increasingly modern developments.  The harvest party tradition in question is Mappadendang, this tradition reminds of the cosmology of everyday life of rural farmers. The above problems are studied using several theories. The theories used are Extensional Theory, Hermeunetic Theory, and Value Theory. Meanwhile, the methods used to collect data are observation, interviews, literature study, documentation study and explained using descriptive methods, so that comprehensive conclusions are obtained. This type of research uses descriptive qualitative research methods. The results of the research show that the Mappadendang tradition has been carried out for generations, the Mappadendang tradition is carried out by the Bugis community as a form of gratitude for the success of the harvest and is a place to socialize between fellow Bugis communities so that they can strengthen social relations between communities both from the local area and from outside the Sidrap area. In the process of implementing the Mappadendang traditional party, it has an appropriate implementation time and must follow ancestral traditions and there are no farming activities during the harvest party. Apart from the time that has been determined, the Mappadendang traditional tradition also includes stages and preparations which include determining the day and length of time for its implementation, as well as the tools that need to be prepared which will be used by the players in implementing Mappadendang.
