Abstract

Buahan Village, as one of the villages on the outskirts of Lake Batur, since old time has local wisdom that has positive implications for the sustainability of Lake Batur. This research aims to examine local wisdom so that the ancestral heritage can be understood and implemented in daily life, so the preservation of the lake can be maintained. The type of qualitative descriptive research using observation methods, in-depth interviews and analysis of various relevant literature was used in this research. Based on the research results, it shows that the community in Buahan Village is making efforts to preserve Lake Batur through local wisdom, including through the establishment and preservation of sacred buildings as the sthana of Ida Bhatari Dewi Danuh who is believed to be the owner of Lake Batur. Buahan Village also has regulations on the use of lake borders which are still implemented today so that if you look at the conditions around, the border area of Buahan Village has very few buildings compared to other villages around Lake Batur. The preservation efforts carried out by the community have had positive implications for the lives of the people, both from a spiritual, intellectual and emotional perspective. This research draws the conclusion that the efforts to preserve Lake Batur carried out by the community in Buahan Village are indirectly a form of self-realization that humans are part of an ecological community that cannot possibly live without nature, so nature really needs to be preserved.

Abstract

The growing number of residents and tourists in Bali has created new problems in the field of environmental hygiene in the form of uncontrolled waste. Therefore, the government needs to apply Law number 32 of 2009 in dealing with these problems. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of Law number 32 of 2009 in dealing with waste problems in Bali. The method used in this study is to use qualitative methods. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of the waste handling activity plan in the AMDAL that has been made is not in accordance with the planned activity plan causing the waste management and handling to be not carried out properly and also the community's right to an unhealthy environment due to the impact of the smell of waste handling at the TPA in Bali, namely submitting objections or complaints to related parties. However, the objections raised have not been taken seriously by the management and the existence of more than one management agency means that complaints cannot be handled properly

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of nonverbal communication in the learning process within higher education. Nonverbal communication, including eye contact, gestures, facial expressions, and body language, plays a crucial role in enhancing student engagement, comprehension, and classroom dynamics. The research employed a qualitative approach, collecting data through in-depth interviews with 50 students and classroom observations. The findings indicate that positive nonverbal behaviors from instructors—such as maintaining eye contact, using gestures, and showing enthusiasm—significantly enhance students' attention and motivation. Additionally, nonverbal communication was found to help clarify complex concepts, supporting student understanding. However, the study also highlights the need for cultural sensitivity, as students from diverse backgrounds may interpret nonverbal cues differently. Furthermore, the challenges of online and hybrid learning environments emphasize the necessity for educators to adapt their communication strategies, relying more on vocal cues and digital tools to maintain student engagement. The research concludes that nonverbal communication is essential for effective teaching and should be emphasized in professional development programs for educators. By focusing on these strategies, higher education can create more inclusive and engaging learning experiences.

Abstract

This study was conducted to analyze Sadharanikaran communication dialogue as a strategy to enhance brand awareness at Bali Silent Retreat. The paradigm used is constructivist with a qualitative research approach. The theories employed are Kotler & Armstrong's Marketing Mix and the Sadharanikaran Model of Communication, with data analysis using Ethnographic Content Analysis (ECA). Bali Silent Retreat is a recreational and spiritual retreat destination that offers experiences of meditation, reflection, and healing in a serene and natural environment on the island of Bali, Indonesia. Bali Silent Retreat's marketing communication strategy to enhance brand awareness considers four factors: product, place, promotion, and price. In the Sadharanikaran communication model, sahridaya preshaka (the sender) and sahridaya prapaka (the receiver) share rasa (emotion), bhava (a state of calm and good mind and heart), and sandesha (message delivery) using specific methods and involving a feedback process (pratikriya). This process builds Abhivyanjana (expression, interpretation) of the formed thoughts, leading to Rasaswadana, which interprets the message to achieve shared feelings. This directly enhances social engagement and customer retention, thereby increasing brand awareness.

Abstract

One of the areas inhabited by the Bugis tribe in South Sulawesi is Sidenreng Rappang Regency. The Bugis tribe has various traditions or customs spread across several areas in South Sulawesi Province, such as Sidrap Regency, which to this day still maintains its traditional harvest festival traditions which are now starting to be forgotten along with increasingly modern developments.  The harvest party tradition in question is Mappadendang, this tradition reminds of the cosmology of everyday life of rural farmers. The above problems are studied using several theories. The theories used are Extensional Theory, Hermeunetic Theory, and Value Theory. Meanwhile, the methods used to collect data are observation, interviews, literature study, documentation study and explained using descriptive methods, so that comprehensive conclusions are obtained. This type of research uses descriptive qualitative research methods. The results of the research show that the Mappadendang tradition has been carried out for generations, the Mappadendang tradition is carried out by the Bugis community as a form of gratitude for the success of the harvest and is a place to socialize between fellow Bugis communities so that they can strengthen social relations between communities both from the local area and from outside the Sidrap area. In the process of implementing the Mappadendang traditional party, it has an appropriate implementation time and must follow ancestral traditions and there are no farming activities during the harvest party. Apart from the time that has been determined, the Mappadendang traditional tradition also includes stages and preparations which include determining the day and length of time for its implementation, as well as the tools that need to be prepared which will be used by the players in implementing Mappadendang.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze how the communication and information model is implemented to integrate religion in Bali. By using the document analysis method, the results of the research show that Bali is recognized as multiculturalism with a religious belief. Both keep human society and peddle it alive through mutual interaction; promote mediation and through effective conflict resolution. Communication and religion facilitate Pakistan in the etiquette of human behavior through mutual sharing, experimentation, and intellectual stimulation. It should be noted that both cross-religious communication has been very abusive and that of modern human society. So that there is a need for encouragement from local religious leaders to communicate effectively and positively for the betterment of their community. On the other hand, the supervisor should not underestimate religion, but be very and sincere in his beliefs and enforce constitutional recognition in terms of empowerment and participation. This will be very important community integration. In this way, people and society will be able to maintain close contact among their own peacocks more effectively and productively.
