Abstract

This study aims to analyze the scope and implementation of the authority of the Religious Court in resolving Islamic economic disputes following the enactment of Law No. 3 of 2006. The research focuses on a case study at the Sumenep Religious Court, which has jurisdiction over disputes involving Islamic financial institutions, including Islamic banking, Islamic financing, and Islamic insurance. This study employs a qualitative socio-legal research method that integrates normative legal analysis with empirical data. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with judges and court officials, direct observation of court proceedings, and examination of relevant legal documents and court decisions. The findings indicate that the Religious Court possesses absolute authority to examine, adjudicate, and resolve Islamic economic disputes as stipulated in Article 49 of Law No. 3 of 2006. The implementation of this authority at the Sumenep Religious Court has been concretely realized through several court decisions addressing disputes between Islamic financial institutions and their customers. These decisions demonstrate the court’s increasing role and capacity in handling complex Islamic economic cases in accordance with sharia principles and national law. The originality of this research lies in its empirical focus on the practical application of the Religious Court’s authority at the regional level, providing new insights into how statutory mandates are operationalized in resolving Islamic economic disputes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the promotional strategy in building the brand of an Islamic educational institution at MI Tarbiyatul Akhlaq. Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, the research was conducted from March to May 2025. The main subjects were the head of the madrasah, teachers, staff, and community leaders. Data was collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis. The results show that the madrasah’s promotional strategy is holistic, combining print media (brochures, banners) and digital media (WhatsApp, Instagram). The madrasah’s brand is strengthened through daily spiritual activities of students, such as Dhuha prayer and reading Asmaul Husna, which serve as unique selling points. This finding highlight that the limitations of internal resources are overcome by utilizing the social legitimacy of community leaders, which increases credibility in the public’s eyes. Thus, this study concludes that Islamic education branding can be effectively built through simple, creative, value-based, and community-supported promotional strategies, providing an important contribution to the study of community-based madrasah branding.

Abstract

The operation of Indonesian schools abroad reflects broader tensions between national identity formation and the cultural forces shaping transnational education. Yet, insufficient attention has been given to how multicultural learning is negotiated in diaspora early childhood settings. This study interrogates the implementation of multicultural education at Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur (SIKL), examining the mechanisms by which teachers strategically integrate local Malaysian wisdom into the character formation of Indonesian kindergarten students while maintaining core national values. Employing a qualitative case study design, the research draws on participant observation of classroom routines, in-depth interviews with teachers, and systematic document analysis, with data interpreted through the interactive framework of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña to capture processes of cultural mediation. The findings reveal a pedagogical formation conceptualized as blended habituation, in which teachers function as cultural brokers who mediate the dialectical relationship between Indonesian cultural values and Malaysian local wisdom, navigating nuanced sociocultural differences while enabling the coexistence of Indonesian moral frameworks with Malaysian public norms, such as disciplined queuing and regulated collective silence. These dynamics cultivate a functional hybrid identity aligned with the notion of Cross-Cultural Kids (CCKs), positioning transnational early childhood environments as formative sites for cosmopolitan nationalism and underscoring the imperative for diaspora curricula to move beyond preservation toward deliberate cultural accommodation in fostering adaptive competence.
