Abstract

This research examines the role of Islamic religious education in overcoming juvenile delinquency at the Babakan Ciwaringin Islamic Boarding School Middle School, Cirebon. Using a qualitative case study type approach, this research collected data through observation, interviews, questionnaires and documentation studies. The results of the research revealed that there were cases of minor juvenile delinquency, such as skipping school, not doing assignments, and other violations of discipline. Causative factors include internal factors such as birth defects, negative traits, imbalance in meeting needs, and lack of positive hobbies, as well as external factors such as lack of parental attention, negative relationships, lack of means of channelling free time, and family/teacher ignorance in dealing with adolescent problems. Islamic religious education plays an important role in overcoming juvenile delinquency through instilling Islamic values in classroom learning and practices in the school environment, such as congregational prayers, religious lectures, maintaining cleanliness, shaking hands with teachers, and giving greetings, saying hello, smiling. This aims to form students' faithful, pious, and noble personalities to avoid deviant behaviour. This research contributes to the development of effective Islamic religious education strategies to overcome juvenile delinquency.

Abstract

The phenomenon of distance learning patterns during the pandemic has become an extraordinary leap and has significantly impacted the massive use of the internet in society. The digital era is an era where many human life activities are carried out online by minimizing social interaction, such as school with online learning, working in the office to working from home, organizational meetings via online meeting platforms such as Zoom and Google Meet, health consultations answered directly by doctors, as well as other activities that were rarely carried out before Covid-19. This research aims to determine children's learning patterns and behavior in the metaverse era. Meanwhile, the research method used is quantitative, with several approaches such as correlation between variables and the close relationship between one variable and another. The three groups of respondents in the study were early adults (>20 years), early adolescents (15-20) years and children (10-15 years). The research results show that at the age of children, smartphone use and online activities are only limited to playing games and social media. Meanwhile, in their early teens, some are even starting to learn game-making through online platforms such as Roblox Studio. In early adulthood, which is the age of college education, smartphone use is not just about social media or online shopping; some even have digital wallets and crypto wallets, invest in cryptocurrency, and even actively use the creator's platform games and NFTs with payments via cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum, polygon, etc.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the gap in meaning between the understanding of the Qur'an and the fatalistic views of society in comprehending taqdir (divine destiny). This is caused by a resigned attitude of giving up without effort that has become a cultural norm among people when faced with various life problems, such as poverty, calamities, and so on. In contrast, the Qur'an implicitly emphasizes the concept of effort in human life. This research aims to analyze the concept of taqdir in the Qur'an using Toshihiko Izutsu's Qur'anic semantic perspective. This research is a literature review that utilizes data from the Qur'an and books by Toshihiko Izutsu. Generally, this research is categorized as qualitative research. In terms of its procedure, this study is descriptive, and within the field of Qur'anic studies, it falls under the thematic term interpretation method. Through this research, it was found from the weltanschauung (worldview) of the Qur'an, as viewed through Izutsu's semantics, that taqdir does not restrict human life. This is because taqdir is not merely certain but also measurable, in which the measure that Allah sets in human taqdir takes the form of ability or a burden of responsibility (taklif), allowing humans to determine their life's direction.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the scope and implementation of the authority of the Religious Court in resolving Islamic economic disputes following the enactment of Law No. 3 of 2006. The research focuses on a case study at the Sumenep Religious Court, which has jurisdiction over disputes involving Islamic financial institutions, including Islamic banking, Islamic financing, and Islamic insurance. This study employs a qualitative socio-legal research method that integrates normative legal analysis with empirical data. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with judges and court officials, direct observation of court proceedings, and examination of relevant legal documents and court decisions. The findings indicate that the Religious Court possesses absolute authority to examine, adjudicate, and resolve Islamic economic disputes as stipulated in Article 49 of Law No. 3 of 2006. The implementation of this authority at the Sumenep Religious Court has been concretely realized through several court decisions addressing disputes between Islamic financial institutions and their customers. These decisions demonstrate the court’s increasing role and capacity in handling complex Islamic economic cases in accordance with sharia principles and national law. The originality of this research lies in its empirical focus on the practical application of the Religious Court’s authority at the regional level, providing new insights into how statutory mandates are operationalized in resolving Islamic economic disputes.

Abstract

This article explores the reconstruction of environmental education principles through an ecological tafsir (interpretation) approach to the Qur’an, aiming to cultivate ecologically conscious stewards of the earth. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method using a library research approach, analyzing Qur’anic verses related to the environment as well as classical and contemporary exegeses. The findings reveal that the Qur’an contains profound environmental education values, particularly through the concepts of tawhīd (oneness of God), mīzān (balance), and khalīfah (stewardship of the earth). The concept of khalīfah emphasizes human responsibility to manage and preserve nature as a trust from God. Ecological exegesis analysis shows that environmental damage contradicts the principle of natural balance taught in Islam. The implementation of these values in educational curricula - through the integration of ecological verses, tadabbur (contemplation) activities, and direct practices such as greening - can build sustainable environmental awareness and behavior. This article concludes that an environmental education approach based on Qur’anic exegesis is not only theologically relevant but also practical in addressing the global environmental crisis, and contributes to shaping individuals with a responsible character toward nature’s preservation
