Abstract

Hemoglobin levels play an important role in the health status of adolescents. Low hemoglobin levels in the blood can interfere with the growth process, decrease fitness levels, memory and immunity, and concentration levels. It can affect learning ability and academic achievement in adolescents. Sleep quality is thought to be one of the important factors that can affect hemoglobin regulation in the body. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between sleep quality and hemoglobin levels in adolescents at SMAS Sunan Kalijaga Jabung Malang Regency. The research method used observational-cross sectional with a total of 56 adolescents with the Multistage Sampling technique. We used the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire to determine sleep quality and took capillary blood samples to determine hemoglobin levels. The results showed that most adolescents (89.3%) had poor sleep quality and 39.3% of adolescents had low hemoglobin levels. The correlation test used Spearman Rho and the results were p-value = 0.021 and r = -0.308. This means that there is a relationship between sleep quality and hemoglobin levels. Increasing sleep quality affects the regulation of blood hemoglobin levelsĀ inĀ adolescents.

Abstract

Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease affecting the integumentary and organ systems. It impacts daily activities and degrades self-esteem. Meanwhile, there is a minimum amount of literature about self-care management education for Psoriasis. Pocketbooks can be used as an alternate learning tool for self-care management by making them more portable among patients. The aims are to foster a positive perception of illness and self-determination regarding Psoriasis. This study evaluated the effectiveness of providing self-care management education using a pocketbook on the illness perception of Psoriasis. The research employed a mixed-methods design, combining quasi-experimental and qualitative approaches. The study involves 30 participants diagnosed with Psoriasis. Participants are divided into two groups: a control and an intervention group. The Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire (B-IPQ) was utilized to assess the participants' perceptions of their illness before and after the intervention. A paired t-test was used to compare pre-test and post-test scores within each group. A two-sample t-test was employed to compare the mean differences between the control and intervention groups. The significance level was set at a p-value of 0.05. The interview data were transcribed verbatim using thematic analysis. The study indicates a difference in the illness perception of patients between control and intervention groups with a significance value of 0.000. Patients report that understanding triggers and management strategies allow for better health. Pocketbook is a practical education approach improving illness perceptions of Psoriasis. Recognizing triggers and adopting management techniques, patients are able to take steps to deal with flare-ups and improve their well-being.

Abstract

Nosocomial infections caused by multidrug-resistant bacteria, such as Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae producing Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamases (ESBL), present a major challenge in healthcare. These bacteria reduce the effectiveness of antibiotics, worsening patient conditions. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of chlorhexidine in disinfecting medical devices contaminated with ESBL-producing bacteria. The methodology involves inoculating bacterial strains on plastic medical device surfaces and disinfecting them with chlorhexidine concentrations of 2.5%, 5%, and 7.5% for 10 minutes, with control groups using sterile water and 70% alcohol. The results indicate that chlorhexidine inhibited the colonies of E. coli and K. pneumoniae effectively, with the highest inhibition occurring at 7.5% for E. coli and at 2.5% for K. pneumoniae. This indicates that these bacteria respond differently to higher levels of chlorhexidine. Through cell lysis and membrane disruption, chlorhexidine shows vast promise as a disinfectant for medical devices against healthcare-associated infections.

Abstract

Abstract

In the current covid-19 endemic, degenerative diseases still have a high prevalence and morbidity rate, one of which is hypertension. The high prevalence of hypertension can be caused by many factors such as improper lifestyle management that can be prevented by adopting a healthy lifestyle. Adults and elderly with hypertension are encouraged to receive non-pharmacological treatments to minimize risk factors for cardiovascular and other systemic and degenerative diseases. Families have an important role in providing information about hypertension and the risk of complications for patients. Families also have a role in providing appropriate care, especially during the period towards endemic covid-19. Counseling was conducted on patients and their families in Sumberejo Village, Poncokusumo District, Malang Regency. The activity was carried out with an initial examination and counseling consisting of 2 main topics: 1) what is hypertension and 2) hypertension care management by family at home. The results showed an increase in knowledge related to physical activity, high blood control, and the role of the family at home with a score of 70 and joint exercises were routinely carried out every 2 weeks. For the sustainability of the program, coordination was carried out with relevant stakeholders.
