Abstract

Biological assessment is an option in determining river quality, in this case related to river health. The biological assessment indicators used aquatic macroinvertebrates with research sites in the Pusur River which are located in Boyolali and Klaten Regencies, Central Java Province, Indonesia. The use of macroinvetebrata as an indicator because they are very sensitive to changes in water quality, one of which is the EPT group (Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera, and Trichoptera). Sources of river pollution will affect the existence of EPT and there are macroinvertebrates that are adaptive to contamination. This study was conducted at three monitoring stations located in the Pusur River, namely in the upstream, middle and downstream sections where each station had 6 repetitions in sampling followed by calculating the macroinvertebrate assessment index value. The results of the study show that the upstream station has an index value of 2.11 which means it is moderately polluted, the middle station has an index value of 2.40 which means it is moderately polluted and the downstream station has a value of 2.35 which means it is moderately polluted. From these results it is indicated that contamination into the river has started from the upstream area where the contamination originates from the disposal of unprocessed cow manure into river bodies, while in the middle and downstream areas the contamination that occurs is caused by dumping garbage, household waste and the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers in agricultural ecosystem.

Abstract

Abstract

PT. Sewangi Sejati Luhur, a palm oil plantation company, manages 7,000 hectares divided into 12 divisions across 3 estates. The company primarily focuses on cultivating and processing Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB), with the harvesting unit employing the most workers. This research aims to investigate the implementation of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) program within the harvesting unit at PT Sewangi Sejati Luhur, designed to prevent work accidents and occupational diseases. Conducted in Tapung Hulu Subdistrict, Kampar Regency, Riau Province, the study employs a quantitative descriptive method using the HIRARC method to assess OHS application and employee working conditions. A saturated sample of 30 harvesting employees was surveyed through interviews and documentation of the OHS program. The findings reveal that the OHS program includes periodic health exams, OHS awareness campaigns, monthly activities, and training sessions. The program's implementation has led to low accident rates and satisfactory achievement of goals. Correlation analysis shows a significant link between OHS program implementation and improved employee working conditions. Additionally, 82% of respondents reported that the OHS program significantly influenced their working conditions, while 18% cited other factors. Overall, the OHS program in PT Sewangi Sejati Luhur's harvesting unit has been effective, ensuring a low accident rate and meeting monthly targets.

Abstract

Prambanan Biodiversity Park (TKP), Klaten, Central Java, is an important natural reserve for preservation of local biodiversity and environmental protection by PT.Sarihusada Generasi Mahardhika. This research investigates the park's potential in providing food resources and supporting agricultural practices for nearby communities through plant species identification including ecological relationships between species and plants that contribute to pest control in agricultural systems. The collected data provides an overview of the park's biodiversity and serves as a baseline for further analysis. The research finds several potential benefits of utilizing TKP for food resources and agriculture. The diverse flora of the park offers a variety of edible plants, such as Moringa oleifera and fruit-based species, which can enhance local diets and provide nutritional diversity. Furthermore, traditional plants like mojo hold potential as natural pesticides, contributing to pest control in agricultural fields. The research recommends the development of conservation strategies and policies focused on sustainable practices, community participation, and educational initiatives to maximize the potential benefits. TKP emerges as an invaluable resource capable of supplying essential food provisions and supporting eco-friendly agricultural practices for neighboring communities, thereby emphasizing the criticality of interweaving biodiversity preservation within the framework of local food systems.

Abstract

Kwadungan Gunung Village, located in Kledung Sub-district, Temanggung Regency, is a region characterized by its agricultural nature and sloping topography. This results in a significant risk of soil and water damage owing to erosion. The survey and land analysis indicate that erosion has transpired in many locations, ranging from low to medium severity. Furthermore, numerous constraints imposed by farmers suggest that there is a relatively restricted supply of water during the dry season. Hence, it is imperative to implement genuine measures for soil and water conservation. The primary goal of this empowerment is to enhance the comprehension and implementation of soil and water conservation practices among local farmers. The aim is to ensure that the agricultural cultivation business in Kwadungan Gunung Village operates in a sustainable. Initially, discussing sessions on soil and water conservation were carried out in partnership with the local government of Kwadungan Gunung Village. Result showed that farmers have applied conservation measures, albeit to a limited scale. The favorable reception of the extension initiatives indicates the capacity to enhance the use of conservation practices. Subsequently, a demonstration plot will be created to showcase soil and water conservation measures. This plot will function as a tangible example for farmers and will also be included in the farm evaluation process. This demonstrates the unwavering dedication of the agricultural community to the principles of sustainable farming and environmental preservation.
