Abstract

ABSTRACT Prophet Muhammad was the architect and ground-breaking stone for the construction of the Prophet's Mosque or an-Nabawi in Medina in 622. The Prophet's Mosque was established with a very simple design yet it owns beneficial functions. The Prophet's Mosque is a place often used for various purposes for instance as government centers, learning centers, medical treatment place, detention and rehabilitation centers, and certainly more social or worshipping center. Building designed with a simple form but rich in functions had never existed before. Therefore, Prophet's Mosque had become the basis, inspiration, and catalyst for the development of Islamic civilization especially mosque architecture. The architecture of the mosque then became the most important identity for the progress of Muslims. The essence of Muslim architecture lies in function with all of its dimensions including the physical, intellectual, and spiritual aspects. The role of form is also important, but only insofar as it complements and enhances function. There are four typical mosques that are considered to represent the heritage of Islamic architecture in this world which were inspired by the Prophet's Mosque, namely; Arabic Type, Turkish Type, Persian Type, and Indian Type. This typology does not include the type of Indonesian mosque, even though the mosques built by Walisongo and the kings of Islamic Mataram in Java are no less great and unique compared to other famous mosques in the world. The question that then emerges is whether or not the Prophet's Mosque is the basis and inspiration for the realization of the Architecture of the Great Mosque of Keraton Surakarta.

Furthermore, in language use, the teachers’ preferences varied namely Indonesia/L1, English/EFL, and a combination between L1 and EFL. Students preferred those various teachers’ feedback. Then, the students’ attitudes toward handling feedback varied depending on every teacher's feedback type. Abstract

Religion plays a vital role in human life, yet many studies focus on its consequences rather than the factors influencing religiosity and religious intensification. This study examines the social and economic determinants that shape religious faith through a literature review of 25 relevant studies from the Scopus database. The findings reveal that social factors predominantly drive religious intensification. These factors include the family environment (parental religiosity, closeness to parents), socialization (religious exposure in childhood), and social conditions (trauma, religious freedom, and societal attitudes). Social demographics such as gender, age, and marital status also play a role. Conversely, economic factors tend to negatively influence religious practices. These factors include income levels (relative and absolute), macroeconomic conditions (GDP per capita, trade volume, and travel costs), socio-economic status (employment, education, and social insurance), and economic development in countries of origin and destination. The study highlights the complex interplay between social and economic factors in shaping religiosity and religious intensification. These findings underscore the need for policies that balance social and economic considerations, promote religious pluralism, and address societal vulnerabilities to foster inclusive approaches to managing religious dynamics in diverse communities.

This is a case study that aims at analyzing students' English proficiency as reflected in students' TOEFL-Like scores at Universitas Sains Alqur'an Central Java in Wonosobo, Indonesia particularly years 2017, 2018, and 2019. The study focuses on students' achievement of English proficiency embedded in TOEFL-Like scores which consist of three sections, namely Listening, Structure and Written Expression, and comprehension of Reading. Considering the huge number of the data (2811 participants), to do the research, the data are conducted statistically using the SPSS application. In detail, the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics to find mean (to know students proficiency achievement), minimum, maximum and standard deviation values (to know the variance of students' English proficiency levels). Categorization of the proficiency levels is referred to Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) standard. The study revealed that structure and written expression is the most difficult test faced then consecutively reading and listening. Then, the lowest and the highest scores were 217 and 567 with a standard deviation 31, 4. Furthermore, the mean of the total TOEFL-Like score achieved was 369, 09. Therefore, the students were mostly categorized as basic users (A2). The study suggests that an appropriate module can be considered to help the students to reach better proficiency, especially in a matter of structure and written expression section.

Abstract

This research is conducted to analyze the form of religious fanaticism of Irish society in 1862 depicted in Sebastian Lelio's The Wonder (2022) and the conflict that occurred between science and religion in the film The Wonder (2022) using the Roland Barthes model semiotic theory. There are two problem statements that the researcher uses in this study, the first is how is religious fanaticism represented in Irish society in 1862 in Sebastian Lelio's The Wonder (2022)? Second, how is conflict between science and religion represented in Sebastian Lelio's The Wonder (2022)? The researcher uses a qualitative method in answering the problem formulation. The theories and approaches used in this study are the semiotic theory of the Roland Barthes model, fanaticism, Christian Fanaticism, and the conflict between science and religion. This research includes data collection procedures and data analysis procedures. This study's results show signs of religious fanaticism caused by church authority and fundamentalism, and conflict between science and religion because of the difference of opinion between rational thought and traditional thought based on religious rituals.
