Abstract

Penelitian inimembahas pemanfaatan serat batang pinang raja (Roystonea Regia) sebagai spesimen peredam suara. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui koofisien absorbsi suara menggunakan inpedence tube dan laju temperatur menggunakan DTA. Komposisi Material yang digunakan sebgai spesimen peredam suara yaitu 50% serat batang pinang raja dengan mesh 32, poli isosianat 22,23 %, gypsum 16,67 % dan poliol 11.11 %. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan nilai absorbsi suara sebesar 0,6016 pada frekuensi 1500Hz. Hasil pengujian DTA dengan heating speed 10o C/menit diperoleh bahwa material peredam suara mulai terbakar pada temperatur 475oCdengan waktu 45,5 menit. Setelah dilakukan pengujian dengan variasi komposisi dan meshing diperoleh nilai koefisien absorbsi suara terbesar pada komposisi yang telah diuji, sehingga layak untuk dijadikan sebagai material peredam suara. Abstract

This study discusses the performance of boiler without and with insulation as a parameter that affects the performance of boiler. The purpose of this study is to compare the performance of boiler without using an insulator and with an insulator. The performance of the boiler is seen from the length of time reaches a boiling temperature at a pressure of 5 bar, the decrease in boiler temperature after reaching a pressure of 5 bar, and the duration of the boiler pressure reaching a pressure of 5 bar. The research method used was 14 liters of water and 4 kg of coconut shell. The first research was carried out without using insulation, furthermore it was continued by isolating the boiler using glasswool with the same conditions. The results obtained in boilers without and with glasswool insulation are very significant. Where the duration of boiling water is up to 41 minutes and 25 minutes, respectively. In addition, the final temperatures after 77 minutes and 118 minutes were 88.4 oC and 145 oC, respectively for boilers without and with insulators. The conclusion in this study states that the insulator greatly affects the performance of the boiler.

Abstract

Piping is a tool that functions to drain fluid from one place to another. The problem at Factory X is the failure of the boiler pipe. Pipe failures that occur are known by indications of leaks in the boiler. The initial process of a failure in an ordinary pipe is characterized by corrosion. The problem of corrosion in boilers is usually caused by feed water or feed water which still contains high oxygen levels. The purpose of the research is to determine the microstructure of the boiler pipe after experiencing the combustion process in the combustion chamber. This research method is an analysis of the chemical composition of boiler pipe material, Visual / Macro and Micro Testing. From the results of the inspection, observation, it can be concluded, the cause of pipe damage on the outside of the fire side caused by erosion corrosion is classified as very severe because it is beyond the optimum thickness of the pipe. Specimen A which is a material that has not received heat treatment has a microstructure, where the condition of the fearlite area is greater than specimen B with heat treatment.

Abstract

Boilers operate at high pressure and high temperature. When the life of the boiler pipe reaches its limit, failure will occur. High temperatures on the outside of the pipe, high pressure inside, and also flames that have been contaminated with corrosive residues for a long amount of time will cause pipe failure. The purpose of the study was to identify the hardness value of boiler pipes after experiencing the heating process and without heating on ASTM A179 pipes. The research method carried out is starting from the preparation of tools and materials, cutting small materials (making specimens), hardness testing, data processing, data analysis and drawing conclusions. The research results are as follows: 1) Obtained average hardness values on standard ASTM A179 pipes in boilers with each brinell, Rockwell, and Vickerss test of 63.67 HRB, 45.20 HRC, and 85.20 HV. 2). The average hardness value of ASTM A179 pipes affected by boiler combustion chamber temperature with each brinell, Rockwell, and Vickerss test is 76 HRB, 50.40 HRC, and 202.30 HV. 3) The value of hardness test results on standard ASTM A179 pipes comparing with after heating has increased hardness in each brinell test by 63.67: 76 HRB, Rockwell by 24.20: 50.40 HRC, and Vickerss of 85.20: 202.30 HV.

Abstract

Villages are often a source of abundance of raw materials such as chilies, but the lack of knowledge and skills in processing them into value-added products hinders the economic potential they can achieve. This service research aims to empower village communities through training in making quality chili sauce. The service method applied is Community Based Research (CBR) with a Forum Group Discussion (FGD) approach. The findings show that this training was successful in increasing the village community's income through increasing the added value of products and wider market access. Apart from that, training participants also experience increased skills in food processing and build stronger community networks. The discussion analysis links research findings with previous research and relevant theories regarding rural economic empowerment. In conclusion, training in making chili sauce in villages has great potential to improve economic and social welfare at the village level, by paying attention to economic, social and environmental aspects holistically.

Abstract

Secara ekonomi, keberadaan ternak domba dapat memberikan arti tersendiri bagi para peternak. Selain bisa meningkatkan pendapatan dan kesejahteraan peternak, juga mampu meningkatkan populasi ternak domba. Program Pengabdian Masyarakat memilih salah satu mitra yang mengelola bidang peternakan domba yaitu Bapak Sanimun dengan Alamat di Desa Medan Sinembah, Kecamatan Tanjung Morawa sejak tahun 2005 sampai sekarang. Jumlah domba yang dikelola mitra sebelumnya hanya sepasang yang kemudian berkembang dan pada akhirnya membutuhkan penambahan tenaga kerja berjumlah 3 orang tenaga kerja yang merupakan warga sekitar. Selama ini peternak menggunakan Metode variasi terkadang dilakukan dikandangkan dan pada waktu tertentu dilepas dilokasi diikat pada pohon. Metode pembuatannya dimulai dari pecacahan rumput ilalang, pencampuran molase, EM4 dan air. Kemudian pencampuran rumput ilalang dengan bahan campuran (molase EM4 dan air) Berdasarkan hasil pelatihan ini terdapat beberapa peningkatan, antara lain : 1. Proses pembuatan silase dari rumput ilalang berhasil dengan baik sesuai dengan yang diharapkan dengan ciri-ciri silase dari wangi dan warna juga tekstur sesuai dengan silase yang baik. 2. Silase merupakan pakan yang telah diawetkan yang diproses dari bahan baku berupa rumput ilalang, dengan jumlah kadar/kandungan air pada tingkat tertentu, dan dapat dipergunakan untuk memenuhi pakan ternak bila diperlukan dalam hal ini dapat disebut sebagai stok.

Abstract

This research focuses on the design of a solar energy demonstrator with a 35-degree tilted panel configuration, as well as testing its performance in orientation towards sunrise and sunset in real environmental conditions. The evaluation was conducted to analyze the effect of tilt angle and orientation on the efficiency of the solar panel system. The tests were conducted for five days (October 07-12) between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The maximum power was achieved at 10 a.m. and 10 p.m., respectively. Maximum power was achieved from 10:00 to 12:00, with a peak of 70 watts on October 07, indicating optimal conditions for sunlight absorption. In contrast, the power generated in the morning (08.00-09.00) and afternoon (15.00-16.00) was lower, ranging from 10-30 watts, due to lower solar intensity. In terms of efficiency, the highest peak reached 50% at 10:00 to 12:00 on October 07, while in the morning and afternoon, the efficiency decreased to 10-20%. The difference between days was influenced by weather conditions, with October 07 and 08 having higher power and efficiency. This research shows the importance of tilt angle, orientation, time of day, and weather conditions in determining the optimal performance of solar panels.

Abstract

Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan pengelasan kepada kelompok usaha bengkel bubut dan las sakha teknik upaya mendukung kemandirian ekonomi. Pelatihan ini terdiri dari teori dasar pengelasan, praktik langsung, serta pendampingan usaha. Sebanyak 5 peserta, termasuk pemuda putus sekolah dan kepala keluarga, telah berpartisipasi. Hasilnya, 85% peserta menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam keterampilan. Produk yang dihasilkan meliputi rak besi, wadah penampung yang digunakan untuk proses produksi magot. Kegiatan ini tidak hanya meningkatkan kemampuan individu, tetapi juga menciptakan peluang usaha dan mendorong kemandirian ekonomi yang lebih luas. Diharapkan pelatihan lanjutan dan dukungan alat dapat memperkuat dampak positif kegiatan ini.

Abstract

his study aims to evaluate the mechanical properties of welded joints produced using the Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) method on BS 1501 223 490B steel material. The evaluation was carried out through destructive testing, including tensile test, bend test, and Charpy impact test. The tensile test revealed a maximum tensile strength of 584.39 N/mm² on the All Weld specimen, with an elongation of 26.23%. In the Transverse test, fracture occurred in the base metal, indicating that the weld joint had superior quality compared to the parent material. The bend test on both Face Bend and Root Bend specimens showed visually "Satisfactory" results, with maximum stress reaching 2,122.55 N/mm². The Charpy V-notch impact test indicated an average absorbed energy of 109.98 Joules at room temperature, demonstrating good toughness under impact loading. The results confirm that welded joints produced by the SAW method on BS 1501 223 490B steel exhibit excellent strength, ductility, and toughness, making them suitable for structural and high-pressure applications. This study reinforces the effectiveness of the SAW method in producing high-quality joints in the metal fabrication industry.

Abstract

Abstract: This community service activity was motivated by the drying problems of emping melinjo in Perbaungan District, Serdang Bedagai Regency, which still relies on sunlight. This traditional method has many limitations as it depends on weather conditions, requires 2–3 days, and produces products that are less hygienic and inconsistent in quality. The purpose of this activity is to provide a solution through mentoring and training in the use of the electric emping melinjo dryer (KEPINGJO) so that partners are able to operate the equipment and increase production capacity. The implementation method includes several stages: preparation, technology socialization, training, trials, evaluation, and mentoring. The results show that the partners actively participated and were able to operate the equipment independently. The use of the electric dryer resulted in a reduction from 1 kg to 0.64 kg within 1 hour at a temperature of 55 °C, which is much faster than the traditional drying method that takes 2–3 days. In addition, the moisture content of emping melinjo, initially 29% in the wet condition, decreased to 9.5% after the drying process using the electric dryer. The final product is more hygienic, evenly dried, and has a longer shelf life. The application of the KEPINGJO electric dryer has proven to increase productivity, product quality, and household income while strengthening the role of universities in delivering appropriate technological innovations. Keywords: dryer; melinjo; empowerment; training; food self-sufficiency Abstrak: Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan pengeringan emping melinjo di Kecamatan Perbaungan, Kabupaten Serdang Bedagai, yang masih mengandalkan sinar matahari. Metode tersebut memiliki banyak keterbatasan karena bergantung pada cuaca, membutuhkan waktu 2–3 hari, serta menghasilkan produk yang kurang higienis dan tidak seragam. Tujuan kegiatan adalah memberikan solusi melalui pendampingan dan pelatihan penggunaan alat pengering elektrik emping melinjo (KEPINGJO) agar mitra mampu mengoperasikan dan meningkatkan kapasitas produksi. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi tahap persiapan, sosialisasi teknologi, pelatihan, uji coba, serta evaluasi dan pendampingan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan mitra aktif berpartisipasi dan mampu menggunakan alat secara mandiri. Penggunaan alat pengering elektrik memperlihatkan penyusutan dari 1 kg menjadi 0,64 kg dalam waktu 1 jam pada suhu 55 °C, jauh lebih cepat dibanding metode tradisional 2–3 hari. Selain itu, kadar air emping melinjo yang semula sebesar 29% pada kondisi basah menurun menjadi 9,5% setelah proses pengeringan menggunakan alat pengering elektrik. Produk yang dihasilkan lebih higienis, kering merata, dan memiliki daya simpan lebih lama. Penerapan pengering elektrik KEPINGJO terbukti meningkatkan produktivitas, kualitas, serta pendapatan rumah tangga, sekaligus memperkuat kontribusi perguruan tinggi dalam menghadirkan inovasi tepat guna.
