Abstract

Indonesia is one of the largest essential oil producing countries in the world and is supported by natural resources with climatic conditions, soil and plant species that are very suitable for the growth of patchouli plants. The use of essential oils today is not only as a raw material for fragrances and cosmetics but also in the health sector. One of the basic ingredients for producing essential oils is patchouli. The main thing that needs to be considered in the processing of this essential patchouli oil is the yield it produces. This study aims to analyze the mass balance and yield in the processing of patchouli essential oil in a distillation system with 5kg, 4kg, 3kg patchouli leaf raw material variations. Distillation of patchouli leaves was carried out using the steam and water distillation method with a temperature in the kettle not exceeding 100 oC for 6 hours. The main variables in the processing of patchouli leaves into essential oil are distillation efficiency and the yield obtained. The more mass of patchouli leaves used, the more it will increase the distillation efficiency of 79.7%, 82.1% and 82.4% as well as the yield of the resulting oil increased 1.67%, 1.7% and 1.78%

Abstract

Into several stages, namely design, material selection and manufacture. The design uses solidworks 2013 software which includes frame design, tank design, Helical-Coil heat exchanger design and the stage of uniting components designed to be able to flow refrigerant heat to water. The stage of making the tool follows from the design that has been made, namely the frame using angle iron (L) with dimensions of 750mm x 390mm x 1500mm, the tank uses a stainless steel plate and the addition of PCM around the tank with a capacity of 60 liters and an overhaul of the compressor outlet flow that is routed to the Helical-Coil heat exchanger made of copper with a diameter of 6.35mm with APK dimensions 150mm x 300mm or half of the tank height. From the test results, ACWH can work well as evidenced by not using PCM, increasing water temperature with the addition of PCM reaching 60.25 oC within 7 hours of testing, while not using PCM water temperature reaching 60.17 oC within 10 hours.

Abstract

Aisyiyah ialah salah satu organisasi perempuan Muslim terbesar di Indonesia. Dengan mengambil hal yang sesuai, rata-rata ibu-ibu yang mengikuti Aisyiyah adalah ibu rumah tangga. Dengan menggunakan sistem semai dan juga menggunakan pupuk organik cair, mampu membuat seluruh warga yang ikut dapat memahaminya dengan mudah. Metode yang dilakukan ialah dengan langsung terjun ke lapangan untuk memberikan pengarahan secara lansgung kepada warga yang datang. Memberikan penjelasan detail bagaimana cara melakukan sistem semai kangkung darat dengan mudah. Hasil yang didapat ialah dengan memberikan eduikasi cara penyemaian yang sesuai dan kapan benih bisa ditanam di tanah secara langsung, sebelum itu direndam dahulu dengan menggunakan pupuk organik cair merek Basill Nigr. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa penyuluhan secara langsung seperti ini dapat dilakukan dengan semaksimal mungkin untuk membuat para warga mampu memahami dan juga bertanya secara langsung apabila ada hal yang tidak dapat dipahami.

Abstract

Paduan Aluminium pada umumnya digunakan untuk automotif maupun alat-alat konstruksi. Pada perancangan konstruksi menggunakan material paduan Aluminium, banyak melibatkan unsur pengelasan dengan sambungan las sebagai alternatif untuk menyambung bagian-bagian tertentu. Pembuatan sambungan las secara teknis memerlukan keterampilan yang tinggi bagi pengelasnya agar diperoleh sambungan dengan kualitas baik. Penelitian menggunakan metode eksperimen. Pengelasan GTAW menghasilkan manik las yang rapih dan tidak menghasilkan spatter atau percikan logam las yang menempel pada logam induk. Dari hasil pengelasan dengan filler ER 4043 dan ER 5356 nilai kekerasannya tidak berbeda jauh. Nilai kekerasan pengelasan dengan filler ER 5356 pada daerah HAZ lebih besar dibandingkan pada pengelasan dengan filler ER 4043. filler ER 5356 tidak mengalami distorsi ataupun cacat visual, sedangkan pada variasi filler ER 4043 mengalami distorsi, Pengelasan dengan filler ER 5356 hasil nilai tertingginya 70,6 HVN sedangkan pengelasan dengan filler ER 4043 hasil nilai tertinginya 69,9 HVN, pada variasi filler ER 5356 dan ER 4043 di perbesaran 50x,200x,500x, di daerah base metal, haz dan weld area.

Abstract

Secara ekonomi, keberadaan ternak domba dapat memberikan arti tersendiri bagi para peternak. Selain bisa meningkatkan pendapatan dan kesejahteraan peternak, juga mampu meningkatkan populasi ternak domba. Program Pengabdian Masyarakat memilih salah satu mitra yang mengelola bidang peternakan domba yaitu Bapak Sanimun dengan Alamat di Desa Medan Sinembah, Kecamatan Tanjung Morawa sejak tahun 2005 sampai sekarang. Jumlah domba yang dikelola mitra sebelumnya hanya sepasang yang kemudian berkembang dan pada akhirnya membutuhkan penambahan tenaga kerja berjumlah 3 orang tenaga kerja yang merupakan warga sekitar. Selama ini peternak menggunakan Metode variasi terkadang dilakukan dikandangkan dan pada waktu tertentu dilepas dilokasi diikat pada pohon. Metode pembuatannya dimulai dari pecacahan rumput ilalang, pencampuran molase, EM4 dan air. Kemudian pencampuran rumput ilalang dengan bahan campuran (molase EM4 dan air) Berdasarkan hasil pelatihan ini terdapat beberapa peningkatan, antara lain : 1. Proses pembuatan silase dari rumput ilalang berhasil dengan baik sesuai dengan yang diharapkan dengan ciri-ciri silase dari wangi dan warna juga tekstur sesuai dengan silase yang baik. 2. Silase merupakan pakan yang telah diawetkan yang diproses dari bahan baku berupa rumput ilalang, dengan jumlah kadar/kandungan air pada tingkat tertentu, dan dapat dipergunakan untuk memenuhi pakan ternak bila diperlukan dalam hal ini dapat disebut sebagai stok.

Abstract

Sheep farming is a business that can provide economic improvement and welfare for the community in Deli serdang district in general and Bangun Sari Baru Village in particular. Raising sheep has advantages over other types of livestock, because sheep are easy to raise, breed quickly, have a market that is always available at any time and require relatively little capital when compared to larger ruminant livestock such as cattle. Sheep farming that has been carried out is greatly influenced by the existence of feed that is usually obtained from plantations in the surrounding environment which is decreasing in capacity due to land conversion. So far, sheep have been given feed in the form of green grasses, cassava leaves and elephant grass. However, a lot of leftover food is wasted because it cannot be consumed optimally by livestock such as cassava stalks at the ends and elephant grass stalks. Therefore, feed enumeration is very necessary to minimize wasted feed. In addition to obstacles in the provision of feed, another obstacle faced by partners is the need for hygienic milk packaging. Thus, the milk chopper and packaging machine is a solution that is considered to be able to solve the problems faced by goat farming partners, namely Mr. Abu Daud in Bangun Sari Baru Village, Tanjung Morawa District, Deli Serdang Regency.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the important role of weather parameters i.e. humidity, rainfall, temperature, and wind speed on the corrosion rate in the Medan City atmospheric environment. Three forms of material with low carbon steel type were prepared in this investigation. The exploration process was conducted for six months starting from June to December 2023, in the open area of the Engineering Faculty, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara. Corrosion rate assessment is carried out monthly using the weight loss method and climate parameter data is obtained from the Medan City Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG). The dimensions, initial preparation, data collection, post-test material preparation, and corrosion rate calculations refer to the ASTM G1 and G50 standards. Regression analysis and Pearson correlation explain the relationship between corrosion rate and climate parameters. The investigation showed that the corrosion rate fluctuated monthly from 0.1 to 0.5 mpy. By referring to corrosion resistance data on metal materials, it was found that the corrosion level was in the good resistance category "outstanding". Based on the regression analysis results, humidity, local temperature, and rainfall play an important role in the atmospheric corrosion rate in Medan City. The percentage of closeness between variables is ± 98% and the standard deviation is ± 0.0001. Further development is needed to determine other parameters that also play an important role in atmospheric corrosion rate and forming a random forest model for predicting future corrosion rates.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to investigate the impact strength and functional group characteristics, as identified through FTIR spectroscopy, of composite materials reinforced with pineapple leaf powder fibers that have undergone physical property enhancement via alkali treatment (NaOH). A series of processes were conducted to produce the pineapple leaf powder, starting with drying fresh pineapple leaves until they turned brown. The dried leaves were then cleaned and soaked in a 5% NaOH solution for durations of 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 hours to modify their physical properties. After treatment, the leaves were rinsed thoroughly and oven-dried at 60°C for 5 hours. The dried leaves were subsequently ground and sieved using a 150-mesh screen. This study involved two main observations: functional group analysis using FTIR spectroscopy and mechanical performance evaluation through impact testing. A total of 30 composite specimens were prepared and fabricated using a stepwise lamination method, following the ASTM D256 impact testing standard. The results indicate that alkali treatment progressively degraded the hemicellulose and lignin content in the pineapple leaf fibers, significantly enhancing the impact energy absorption of the composite material. However, extended treatment durations adversely affected the fiber quality, leading to structural damage and reduced interfacial cohesion between the composite components.
