Abstract

Changing work patterns and increased awareness of mental health have driven attention to the issue of work-life balance (WLB), especially among Generation Z who are beginning to dominate the workforce. However, there is still a gap in understanding how this generation perceives and responds to the challenges of maintaining a balance between professional and personal life. This research aims to examine Generation Z's perceptions, challenges and adaptive strategies towards WLB through a systematic literature study approach. The method used involved searching scholarly articles from various accredited databases using relevant keywords, with selection based on specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. From the review of six key articles, it was found that Generation Z views WLB as a flexible integration of work and personal life, rather than a separation of time. They face challenges such as rigid conventional work culture, long working hours, digital pressures, and lack of mental health support. To overcome these, Generation Z employs strategies such as opting for flexible work, setting boundaries on work communication, and seeking out organizations that pay attention to employee well-being. These findings have important implications for organizations and policymakers in designing a more adaptive work system to support career sustainability and well-being of young people in the modern workforce.

Abstract

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of the work environment, work discipline, and work ability on teacher performance using multiple linear regression analysis. The regression model reveals that, in the absence of influence from these variables, the predicted teacher performance score is 64.376. The analysis indicates that while work discipline (β = 0.188) and work ability (β = 0.111) positively influence performance, the work environment (β = -0.484) has a negative impact. Correlation coefficient analysis shows that the work environment has a low and negative correlation with teacher performance (r = -0.335), whereas work discipline (r = 0.181) and work ability (r = 0.212) have very low to low positive correlations. The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.176) suggests that only 17.6% of the variation in teacher performance is explained by these variables, indicating that 82.4% of the variance is due to other unexamined factors. These findings highlight the complexity of factors affecting teacher performance and suggest the need for further research to explore additional influential variables.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of work-life balance, self-efficacy, and organizational climate on employee engagement among teachers in Jelai Hulu, Ketapang Regency. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 35 teachers as respondents and analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that work-life balance, self-efficacy, and organizational climate had a positive and significant partial effect on employee engagement. In addition, the simultaneous test results showed that the three independent variables together had a significant effect on employee engagement. The coefficient of determination shows that the research model is able to explain 44.3% of the variation in employee engagement, while the rest is influenced by other factors outside the research model. These findings indicate that improving work-life balance, self-efficacy, and a conducive organizational climate are important factors in increasing teacher engagement. This study is expected to contribute theoretically and practically to human resource management in the field of education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the interrelationship between the non-physical work environment, psychological well-being, and employee performance in nonprofit organizations (NGOs). NGOs operate under resource constraints and rely heavily on non-material approaches to manage employee performance. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) using the PRISMA framework was conducted on articles indexed in Scopus, Google Scholar, and SINTA, published between 2015 and 2025. A total of 25 articles were selected and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings show that the non-physical work environment—such as leadership, communication, and social support—has a significant impact on employee performance. Psychological well-being also plays a crucial role, both as a direct determinant and as a mediating variable linking the work environment to performance. In NGO contexts, intrinsic factors such as meaningful work and value alignment are more influential than financial incentives. This study offers novelty by providing an integrated synthesis that simultaneously examines these three variables within the NGO context, which has been largely overlooked in previous fragmented studies. Practically, the findings suggest that NGO managers should prioritize leadership development, strengthen internal communication, and design well-being-oriented policies to improve sustainable employee performance.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to look at how Generation Z workers at 3-star hotels in Pontianak City feel about their work-life balance and how it affects their commitment to the company. A new generation of workers, Generation Z (those born between 1997 and 2012), has high expectations for a healthy work-life balance and places a premium on this concept, which in turn affects how loyal they are to their employers (Twenge, 2020). A quantitative methodology based on survey research was employed in this study. The sample was selected at random from among Generation Z workers at multiple 3-star hotels in Pontianak. A survey measuring organizational support, employee commitment, and work-life balance was used to collect data. The mediation hypothesis was tested using path analysis. The results show that work-life balance has a favorable and substantial effect on employee dedication. In addition, research has shown that organizational support has a favorable and substantial effect on employee commitment. The main takeaway from this research is that there is a mediation role for organizational support in the relationship between work-life balance and employee commitment. This indicates that the positive impact of work-life balance on the levels of commitment among Generation Z employees is amplified when they believe their employer supports them, meaning that they are recognized for their efforts and their well-being is prioritized (Eisenberger et al., 1986). This study highlights the importance of hotel management prioritizing work-life balance and creating a supportive work environment for Generation Z employees. This will help them stay committed and engaged in the competitive hospitality business.
