Abstract

Goa Pawon is one of tourist destination that has begun to be known by West Java’s people. In Goa Pawon, there are local people which becomes “ojeg”/motorcycle taxi drivers who often take tourists to Goa Pawon, but the survey results shown that they have not optimized their capacity to be able to act as a frontliner services for tourism. In fact, if they have basic knowledge of tourism and how to serve tourists excellently, tourists will feel satisfied whose impact is to increase their income as well as become agents that can accelerate the promotion and popularity of Goa Pawon.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to identify the overtourism issues at Borobudur Temple based on Penta Helix's perspectives. There is 5 kind of issues that will be identified based on Peeter et al (2018) such as issues related to tourist number, issues related to physical or build environment, socio-cultural issues, socio-economic issues and tourist perception based on Penta Helix perspectives. The empirical condition happened that many events like Borobudur Symphony, Concert Marathon, and the liked conducted in the area of Borobudur Temple. This study used qualitative research. Researchers wanted to understand the phenomena of certain social conditions that occurred in the research place. To identify the overtourism phenomenon in destination, the interview was conducted with each stakeholder according to Penta Helix elements which consist of academicians, business, community, government, and media. By interviewing each of Penta Helix elements, comprehensive findings can be produced following the 5 kinds of issues mentioned. According to each stakeholder by the Penta Helix model, there are some overtourism phenomena or issues that already happened in the destination. Those are issues related to tourist numbers, physical and built environment, socio-cultural issues, and tourist perception. And one of the issues that have not happened in the destination is socio-economic issues.

Abstract

Introduction: This article delves into the intricate dynamics of the tourism village community organizations, elucidating the essential role of a business mindset in navigating the complexities of the tourism industry. As a new tourism village, Neglasari village was designated as one of the pioneer tourism villages of the Southern part of Garut Regency in 2021. Followed by the formation of two village community organizations namely the village-owned enterprise (Bumdes Bangun Jaya) and the tourism awareness group (Pokdarwis Neglasari) in 2023. Some of potential tourist attractions among others Jagapati Waterfall and Puncak Lendra Tea Plantation.Methodology: This qualitative research used focus group discussions technique explore and collect the data from all members of the community organizations, Pokdarwis Neglasari and Bumdes Bangun Jaya.Findings: The village community organizations have passions for solving problems and willingness to accept changes. The business mindset of Pokdarwis Neglasari and Bumdes Bangun Jaya revolves around community empowerment, collaboration, sustainable practices, and continuous improvement through value chain analysis. By leveraging their cultural and natural assets, these organizations not only enhance the tourism experience but also foster socio-economic development within their communities.Conclusion: Based on the tourism value chain, that tourist village have uniqueness that is the basis for the development of tourism village products, and based on tourism supply chain, their high collaboration with suppliers improves the quality of their products and provides advantages to enhance their competitive position in the market.
