Abstract

The Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) policy is a strategic initiative by the Indonesian government to strengthen the synergy between higher education and primary-secondary education. One of its flagship programs is *Kampus Mengajar* (Teaching Campus), which aims to improve students’ basic literacy, particularly in underdeveloped and remote schools. However, preliminary observations suggest that the implementation of this program in South Aceh still faces significant challenges. Key issues include inadequate planning in teaching and learning, insufficient preparation of human resources, and weak coordination among universities, schools, and local education authorities. Moreover, participating students often lack the required competencies, their activities are not fully aligned with school needs, and teachers are not yet equipped with the skills to integrate literacy into classroom instruction. This study seeks to explore the challenges and opportunities for enhancing basic literacy in junior high schools through the Teaching campus program. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, using in-depth interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs) with multiple stakeholders, and document analysis. The findings reveal that although the program holds considerable potential as an alternative strategy for improving basic literacy in secondary education, its implementation in South Aceh has not been optimal. Factors contributing to this include the limited experience and readiness of student-teachers, lack of intensive supervision by university mentors, and insufficient training for school teachers in applying literacy-based learning. Strengthening planning, human resource development, and program alignment between universities, schools, and local governments is essential to achieving the program’s intended outcomes.

Abstract

The evolution of technology in the digital era significantly impacts various aspects of life, including the field of education. The use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is crucial in the educational domain, particularly in facilitating learning activities in schools. ICT learning facilities play a vital role in streamlining the educational process, amidst high expectations placed on the educational sector. However, the education system faces numerous challenges that hinder the effective implementation of teaching and learning activities in schools. Among these challenges are inadequate educational support facilities, emphasizing the importance of teachers' ICT competencies. This research aims to explore the role of teachers in implementing ICT learning facility management in elementary schools within Blangpidie District, South Aceh Regency, and their use of ICT. Employing a descriptive quantitative method, this study utilizes a survey approach with a Likert scale, supplemented by data collection techniques such as interviews, observations, and questionnaires. The quantitative research involved 30 elementary school teachers from Blangpidie District, South Aceh Regency. Validity tests resulted in 20 valid statement items with validity coefficients ranging from 0.444 to 0.925, and a questionnaire reliability of 0.979. Collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, revealing that teachers' efforts to enhance ICT competencies scored an average of 15.14 or 80.57%, indicating a "Very Good" category. The findings also highlight the involvement of teachers' ICT competencies in various educational aspects, such as planning, implementation, evaluation/assessment of students, use of supporting applications, efforts or methods, support, motivation for enhancing ICT competencies, and several factors hindering the improvement of teachers' competencies.

Abstract

Certified teacher development is assistance or a series of efforts carried out by school principals towards certified teachers in conducting professional competence improvement to enhance the quality of education. The purpose of this research is to determine the implementation of principal's coaching for certified teachers in improving the quality of education, including: planning; implementation; follow-up, and obstacles. This research was conducted qualitatively with a case study research design. Data collection techniques included interviews, observations, and documentation. Data validity checking techniques included more thorough observations and triangulation testing. Subjects in this study were school principals and certified teachers. The findings of the research are as follows: (1) Academic supervision planning begins at the beginning of the academic year with a work meeting involving the school principal and certified teachers. The coaching program includes supervision, training, and technical guidance. The coaching focus includes: lesson plan supervision, RPP monitoring, learning process, and assessment of learning outcomes; training to improve teachers' competencies in IT; (2) Implementation is carried out with coaching approaches conducted directly and indirectly. The coaching pattern is divided into two, namely academic and non-academic. The academic coaching pattern includes two activities, namely classroom visits and observations, while the non-academic coaching pattern is carried out through personal guidance and group guidance; (3) Follow-up in coaching uses coaching techniques in individual coaching activities as a follow-up to academic supervision activities, with the aim of making teachers aware of their potential so that they realize that their weaknesses can be maximized through their own potential; (4) Principal's time constraints in coaching activities due to heavy workloads, limited certified teachers' competencies in IT, frequent changes of school principals, inadequate facilities and infrastructure, and limited BOSP fund budgets in conducting training and technical guidance.

This type of research is a quantitative experiment (pre-experimental). This design uses an experimental class given a learning model. After being given the treatment, a final test was given. The normality testing criteria is sig value > 0.05, the data is normally distributed, if sig < 0.05, the data is not normally distributed. From the test results, the Pretest value is 0.007 > 0.05 and the Post-test value is 0.07 > 0.05. From these tests, it can be concluded that the Pretest value is greater than 0.05 and the Post-test value is greater than 0.05. The homogeneity test results obtained Sig value α = 0.198, this means that the Sig value is greater than α (0.198 > 0.05) so that it can be concluded that the two groups are homogeneous. the hypothesis results obtained Sig (2.Tailed) = 0.000 meaning that H0 is rejected because Sig (2.Tailed) < α or (0.000 < 0.05). H1 is accepted because Sig (Tailed) > α or (0.198 > 0.05). In the T test analysis, Sig < table or (0.198 < 1.267).
