Abstract

An extension activity has been carried out in order to develop organically sound cabbage cultivation. This agricultural extension aimed to improve farmer’s skills in controlling major pests and diseases on cabbage crops; to enhance farmer’s skills in making tricho-compost; to enhance quantity and quality of cabbage yields so as to increase farmer's income. This agricultural extension program is carried out through: training, mentoring, and demonstration plots. Pre-Test and Posttest were used to evaluate the success of the training. Farmers' knowledge increases after participating in training and practice in the field. The results of this activity showed that the participating farmers were able to practice organic cabbage cultivation well. Both farmer groups were able to apply methods of organically pest control and obtained high yields. The Margo Sayur Farmer Group obtained a cabbage yield of 19,74 tons per hectare, while the Ngudi Sayur Group obtained a yield of 18,79 tons per hectare.Key words: organic cabbage, organic fertilizer, botanical and biological pesticide, and yield.

Abstract

Pak choy is rich in calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, and vitamin K, all essential for health. Pak choy requires a proper balance of nutrients for optimal growth. In a hydroponic system, any imbalance in nutrient levels can negatively impact plant growth and reduce the nutritional value stored in the tissues.  Selecting suitable varieties and providing appropriate calcium treatment can help increase calcium content and enhance productivity. This study aims to determine the effect of calcium concentration on growth, yield, and Ca content and the most responsive varieties to increased calcium concentration. The research design used was a Split Plot Design with two factors, namely calcium nitrate concentration (k) as the main plot consisting of k0 = without addition of Ca(NO3)2, k1 = addition of 300 mg/L Ca(NO3)2, k2 = addition of 600 mg/L Ca(NO3)2, k3 = addition of 900 mg/L Ca(NO3)2, and k4 = addition of 1200 mg/L Ca(NO3)2. Varieties (v) as subplots consist of v1 = Masbro, v2 = Nauli F1, and v3 = Flamingo. The results showed that the Nauli F1 variety had the best effect on the number of leaves, growth rate index, and fresh weight of shoots. Adding 900 mg/L of calcium nitrate had the best impact on plant growth, while adding 1200 mg/L of calcium nitrate caused plant poisoning. The Masbro variety was responsive to Ca biofortification.

Abstract

Coffee is one of Indonesia's main commodities, playing an important role in supporting the national economy. However, coffee productivity, especially robusta, has declined in recent years. In Kemawi Village, Somagede Subdistrict, Banyumas Regency, the issue of low productivity and quality of robusta coffee has become a major challenge. This is due to the lack of implementation of Good Agriculture Practices (GAP) guidelines for environmentally friendly farming that produce safe and consumable products. This community service program aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of coffee farmers in the Mekar Sari Farmers Group regarding applying GAP in coffee cultivation. The program is conducted through a series of activities, including counseling sessions and field practices covering superior seeds, grafting techniques, organic fertilization, preparation of planting holes, planting, and pruning of robusta coffee branches. Applying GAP is expected to increase the productivity and quality of robusta coffee in Kemawi Village and serve as a model for other farmers' groups in the area.

Abstract

Fertilizer application is a strategy that can be used to increase sweet corn production and maintain environmental balance. This research aims (i) to determine the optimal dose of nitrogen and potassium fertilizers for sweet corn production; (ii) to study the agronomic and physiological responses of sweet corn plants at different nitrogen and potassium dose; and (iii) to determine the nitrogen (N) and potassium (K) nutrient uptake and efficiency by sweet corn at different fertilizer doses and their interactions on yield and yield quality. The research was conducted from March to November 2022 in the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman. The experimental design used was a randomized block design. The treatments tried were N doses (0 kg ha-1 (N0), 100 kg ha-1 (N1), 200 kg ha-1 (N2)) and K doses (0 kg ha-1 (K0), 75 kg ha-1 (K1), 150 kg ha-1 (K3)). Each treatment was repeated three times. The observational data were analyzed using analysis of variance to determine the effect of treatment. If the results differed significantly, Duncan’s multiple range test (α=5%) was performed. Variables observed included growth traits, yield and yield components, physiological, biochemical, nutrient uptake and efficiency, and sweetness level. The experimental results showed that nitrogen dosage had a significant influence on growth traits, yield, and yield components, physiological, biochemical, nutrient uptake and efficiency, and sweetness level. The K dosage had a significant influence on N and K nutrient uptake. The interaction between a N dose of 100 kg ha-1 and a K dose of 150 kg ha-1 shows the best values for plant growth rate and potassium uptake.

Abstract

The decreasing interest of the younger generation in agricultural activities poses a serious challenge for future sustainability. Integrating environmental education into early childhood learning is therefore essential. This community service activity aimed to introduce eco-friendly farming practices to preschoolers at TK ABA XVI, North Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency through a simple hydroponic system using recycled waste materials. The program involved interactive lectures, discussions, Q&A sessions, and hands-on hydroponic planting. Results showed an increase in students' knowledge about hydroponics and a growing awareness of the importance of recycling plastic waste to protect the environment. This initiative highlights the effectiveness of early intervention in cultivating environmental consciousness among young learners.

Abstract

Pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat secara umum, bertujuan untuk meningkatkan profesionalitas para aparatur kelurahan, Rukun Tetangga (RT), Rukun Warga (RW) khususnya dalam lingkungan Kelurahan Cireundeu, Kecamatan Ciputat Tmur, Kota Tangerang Selatan. Melalui proses pendidikan dan pelatihan bagi aparatur yang beradadi garda terdepan harus terus dilakukan agar memahami bahwa setiap unsur komponen di masyarakat bisa memberikan pelayanan yang terbaik. Implementasi tata naskah dinas di Kelurahan Cireundeu, Kecamatan Ciputat Timur, Kota Tangerang Selatan. Secara terus menerus disosialisasikan melalui pelatihan tentang tata naskah dinas. Melalui kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini sangat baik agar seluruh aparatur RT dan RW, agar memiliki persepsi yang sama tentang sistem administrasi yang baik. Aparatur RT dan RW adalah merupakan lembaga kemasyarakatan yang dibentuk melalui musyawarah masyarakat setempat dalam rangka untuk memberi pelayanan kepada masyarakat, dan pemerintah, oleh karena itu pembinaan terus dilakukan secara berkelanjutan. Hasil diadakan pelatihan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kapasitasnya sebagai pelayan publik, agar pemahaman tentang system administrasi yang berkaitan dengan naskah dinas betul-betul sesuai dengan kebijakan pemerintah daerah Kota Tangerang Selatan. Peningkatan keterampilan bagi para pengurus lembaga kemasyarakatan ini khususnya dalam bidang administrasi agar berjalan dengan baik dan benar, dan dapat menciptakan hubungan yang harmonis antar masyarakat dengan pemerintah daerah. Secara umum peserta pendidikan dan pelatihan bagi lembaga kemasyarakatan tentang tata naskah dinas, berdasarkan data yang diperoleh mayoritas peserta pelatihan para aparatur RT dan RW, masih berpendidikan SLTP sebanyak 6 orang dan yang berpendidikan SLTA sebanyak 22 orang sedangkan yang berpendidikan Sarjana sebanyak 6 orang dan yang berpendidikan magister ada 1 orang.
