Abstract

This study aims to examine Ali Mustafa Yaqub's approach to critiquing hadith in the formation of Islamic jurisprudence, particularly focusing on the modern issue of performing hajj with unlawfully gained wealth. Employing a qualitative methodology, the research utilizes Yaqub's hadith criticism framework to explore this issue. Findings from the discourse and analysis illustrate that Yaqub's method offers profound insights into the complexity of Islamic legal matters, particularly concerning Hajj with unlawful fund, by underscoring the significance of sanad quality and its legal implications. The study concludes that Yaqub's analytical methodology in examining the legality of Hajj with unlawful wealth comprises three primary elements: sanad as well as matan critique, and hadith interpretation. In critiquing the sanad, Yaqub not only relies on personal judgment but also consults experts in hadith studies and authoritative texts. Additionally, he conducts comparisons of scholars' opinions to evaluate narrator reliability. In matan critique, he not only considers linguistic conformity and Quranic alignment but also conducts editorial analysis and contextualizes it. Moreover, in interpreting the hadith, he demonstrates a deep understanding of the prohibition of using unlawfully obtained funds for performing Hajj, despite the hadith's weak classification. Yaqub effectively presents his argument against using prohibited funds for Hajj within Islamic principles. Furthermore, the research underscores the importance of a comprehensive approach in addressing contemporary challenges in Islamic law.

Abstract

This study examines the development of local hadith literature, particularly the Hadis Penting Papadang Ati Book by Moh. E. Hasim, The primary focus is on the tahqiq and takhrij of hadiths, especially in the chapter on prayer, which contains 256 hadiths, to evaluate the validity and relevance of this work. Using a qualitative method with content analysis, this research explores the author's biography, works, and systematic methodology of the book's composition. The findings indicate that Hasim used Sundanese as the main medium for writing, translating, and explaining hadiths. This approach provides broader access for the local community to understand Islamic teaching. Key findings include the presence of hadiths, supported by numerous corroborations, from complete sources from authoritative books such as Sahih Bukhari and Muslims. However, some hadiths lack complete chains of narration (sanad), necessitating further study to strengthen their authenticity. The novelty of this research lies in analyzing the use of the Sundanese language as a medium of da'wah that connects Islamic teachings with local culture, making the book a relevant spiritual guide. The academic implications highlight the importance of developing locally based hadith literature that considers community needs without compromising scholarly validity. This research recommends further studies in other chapters of Hadis Penting Papadang Ati and a deeper exploration of integrating local traditions with scholarly methodologies in hadith studies

Abstract

The phenomenon in society shows that individuals with high incomes, such as lecturers, doctors, and lawyers, often lack awareness regarding the obligation to pay professional zakat. One of the main reasons is the absence of explicit regulations on professional zakat during the time of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), leading some to believe that it is not mandatory. However, as Islamic jurisprudence evolves, professional zakat has been increasingly examined by scholars and Islamic institutions as a relevant form of zakat in the context of the modern economy. This study aims to analyze the interpretation of hadiths and scholarly opinions regarding the obligation of professional zakat in Islam. The research employs a qualitative method with a library research approach, reviewing various literature sources, classical Islamic jurisprudence books, and fatwas from different schools of thought. According to Yusuf Qaradawi, the threshold (niṣāb) for professional zakat is analogous to gold and silver zakat, set at the equivalent of 85 grams of gold, with a zakat rate of 2.5% on net income. The findings indicate that professional zakat plays a crucial role in enhancing societal welfare, reducing economic disparities, and strengthening social solidarity. Although scholars hold differing views on its obligatory status, professional zakat has been widely endorsed in Indonesia through various fatwas issued by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and other Islamic institutions. Therefore, professional zakat is not only a religious obligation for Muslims but also serves as an economic instrument to promote equitable and sustainable welfare distribution.
