Abstract

Effective urban waste management is crucial, encompassing various dimensions such as financial, technical, legal, environmental, spatial planning, socio-cultural aspects, and stakeholder involvement. The household waste management landfill in Regional Payakumbuh is currently overcapacity, and the city lacks an independent waste landfill. This quantitative research utilizes Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) version 3.0 to analyze data, a method within Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The study population consists of 120 households in the Talang Payakumbuh Barat neighborhood, selected using proportional random sampling. Results indicate that the education level of the West Payakumbuh community positively influences waste management. This is supported by a P value of 0.044 (< 0.05), with a t-statistic of 1.786 (lower than 1.96). The original sample value of 0.188 is positive, leading to the acceptance of hypothesis H1. Similarly, the type of occupation significantly and positively influences community participation in waste management in Payakumbuh, supported by a P value of 0.022 (< 0.05) and a t-statistic of 4.351 (> 1.96). The original sample value of 0.463 is positive, confirming the acceptance of hypothesis H2. Additionally, community income has a positive and significant impact on their participation in waste management in Payakumbuh, as evidenced by a P value of 0.031 (< 0.05), a t-statistic of 2.292 (> 1.96), and an original sample value of 0.031. Hence, hypothesis H3 is accepted. Community participation in waste management in Payakumbuh is also influenced by social and cultural factors. The diversity in educational backgrounds and occupations presents unique challenges, contributing to the creation of a clean and comfortable city environment. This research emphasizes the need for integrated waste management strategies and community involvement to address the waste disposal challenges faced by Payakumbuh.

Abstract

Beliefs (understanding) are something that consciously or unconsciously influences a person's habits. Therefore, Beliefs influence what a person says, means and does. So, Beliefs will have an impact on the teacher's treatment in teaching. Especially in developing autonomy (independence) in students. This research includes descriptive qualitative research. Participants in this research were teachers at SMK N 1 Kec. Luak and SMA N 1 Kec. Lareh Sago Halaban 2016/2017 academic year. There are 4 (four) teachers at SMK N 1 Kec. Luak and there are 3 (three) teachers at SMA N 1 Kec. Lareh Sago Halaban. The author uses a questionnaire as a data source. There are 24 items in the questionnaire. Questionnaires were analyzed using a Likert scale. Based on the results of the Likert scale, the author uses an interval formula to find the score of the teacher's understanding of independent learning. The results of this research describe English teachers' understanding of learning. First, overall English teachers do not have enough confidence that independent learning can be implemented well in their schools. Second, English teachers lack understanding of the definition of independence. Abstract

Conflict at school can be caused by conflicting demands, needs, drives, or desires. If conflicts can be resolved well, cooperative relationships will improve, and levels of trust and productivity will increase. Conflicts arise due to ineffective conflict management. Failure to manage conflict hinders the achievement of shared goals and disrupts the dynamics of interpersonal relationships. The research was carried out using a qualitative study method (Single Instrumental Case Study), which is a type of case research as an example to get an overview of problems and prevent individuals from improving their performance. By focusing on natural and naturalistic phenomena that exist in schools and carried out by observation in the field with strategies for Proper conflict management teachers' stress can be reduced and their ability to handle conflict at school can be improved. This can help create a more harmonious and productive school environment for all parties involved. Interpersonal conflicts between colleagues must be resolved quickly so as not to damage work relationships, affect mental well-being, and even hurt the quality of teaching. Conflict between co-workers in schools can hardly be avoided completely, but effective conflict management can help reduce the impact of stress arising from such conflict. Interpersonal conflict between co-workers can have a significant impact on teacher stress in the educational environment.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of Project-Based Learning (PBL) on the improvement of English listening skills in junior high school students. The research method used is a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group. The research sample consists of 60 junior high school students divided into two groups: an experimental group that applies PBL and a control group that uses conventional teaching methods. Data were collected through listening tests before and after the treatment. Data analysis using a t-test showed a significant improvement in the listening skills of students taught with PBL compared to the control group. These findings indicate that PBL is effective in enhancing the English listening skills of junior high school students. The implication of this study is the importance of implementing innovative teaching methods such as PBL in English language teaching.
