Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a public health problem in Indonesia, ranking third in the world after India and China, with around 10% of the total global cases. TB is a lung infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which is transmitted through the air when a sufferer coughs (Hidayah, 2018). In this community service activity, interviews were conducted with patients suspected of having TB based on clinical symptoms. The investigation was continued based on data from the Baktiya Barat Health Center, with the collection of sputum samples for TCM testing at the Tanah Jambo Aye Health Center. In addition to interviews and sampling, secondary TB data from 2023–2024 from the Baktiya Barat Health Center were also analyzed. The results showed that there were 25 TB patients: 13 males and 12 females, including two children (a 9-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl) who underwent routine treatment at the health center and integrated health post. Sputum examination was carried out with standard collection and packaging procedures before being sent for TCM testing. The data showed that the number of male patients was slightly higher than female patients. In addition, there was an increase in cases of patients dropping out of treatment, with one case in 2024, compared to zero cases the previous year. In conclusion, TB remains a serious concern in Baktiya Barat District, with a total of 25 active cases requiring ongoing monitoring and treatment.

Abstract

Health workers in managing Occupational Safety and Health (K3) risks at the Blang Geulumbang Health Center. The aspect of K3 is important to protect health workers, patients, and the community from occupational risks, but its implementation often faces obstacles. Key findings include limited personal protective equipment (PPE), suboptimal management of medical waste, and lack of regular training and supervision. High workload and low budget allocation are also obstacles. This study recommends increasing training, providing adequate facilities, and strengthening managerial policies to support the implementation of K3 more effectively. The implementation of this strategy is expected to create a safer work environment and improve the quality of public health services.

Abstract

Occupational Health and Safety (K3) is an effort to provide safety guarantees and improve the health status of workers/laborers by preventing work-related accidents and diseases, controlling workplace hazards, health promotion, treatment and rehabilitation. Occupational Health and Safety efforts include workforce, work methods/methods, work tools, work processes and work environment. In the PTM room at the West Baktiya Health Center, the space is quite narrow due to the large number of patients visiting, so there is untidiness in the room even though the AC and windows are used. However, having 2 tables in the room makes the room increasingly narrow and difficult to work comfortably. This research aims to find out an overview of the implementation of Occupational Safety and Health in the PTM room. This research is a qualitative descriptive research with a case study design. The subjects of this research were 3 officers in the PTM room. The object of this research is the implementation of K3 and PTM rooms at the West Baktiya Community Health Center. Data was collected by participant observation and semi-structured interviews with informants. The risk factors for the PTM room at the West Baktiya Health Center, seen from occupational safety and health factors, are that it is quite clean, no animals were found that cause disease transmission such as cockroaches, rats and others. There are no occupational safety and health signs and standard operational procedures related to occupational safety and health, while fire prevention in the PTM room at the West Baktiya Public Health Center and the West Baktiya Community Health Center itself is quite good with APAR. There needs to be signs regarding occupational safety and health and SOPs regarding occupational safety and health, especially in the PTM room.
