Abstract

This study aims to determine student responses to learning Arabic online at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri Surakarta 1. The research method uses descriptive methods with a questionnaire technique by asking as many as five questions to students of MTs Negeri Surakarta 1 class VII, VIII, and IX as many as 417 through filling in the questions distributed to all respondents in the form of google form. Based on the data, it was found that the Arabic learning media most used by teachers was WhatsApp, while the media most liked by students when learning Arabic online was What's App with 47% of respondents, Goole Meet 22% of respondents, and Google Classroom 22% of respondents. The problems faced by students during online learning are (1) Students have difficulty understanding the material 51% of respondents (2) No quota 8% of respondents (3) Internet networks are often disconnected 13% of respondents (4) Lack of direct explanation of the material using Google meet, zoom 23% of respondents (5) Number of tasks given by the teacher 5% of respondents. Learning Arabic online is still a lot of problems because a teacher and an institution are more prepared for online learning.

Abstract

This article explores the strategy of integrating vocabulary and speaking learning in spoken English classes and investigates how lecturers teach these skills. The integration of vocabulary and speaking is essential as speaking is a productive skill that requires input (vocabulary) and output (spoken English). This study aims to delve into how this integration enhances speaking skills by providing language exposure through contextually relevant vocabulary usage. The lecturer's approach involves situational learning videos, focusing on pronunciation and contextual understanding. Moreover, the incorporation of corpus data, depicting vocabulary usage in various speaking contexts, aids students in practicing vocabulary in appropriate situations. The results showcase a spectrum of student responses, ranging from natural speakers to those reliant on scripted preparation. Assignments, including role-plays and conversational scenarios, foster vocabulary utilization in congruent contexts. Student interviews reflect improved understanding of spoken English through vocabulary exploration strategies, facilitating comprehension and communication. The study concludes that integrating vocabulary and speaking learning enhances spoken English proficiency, guiding educators to develop more effective teaching methodologies. Future research recommendations include expanding participant numbers for richer data insights.

Abstract

Menulis ilmiah merupakan kemampuan yang sebaiknya dikuasai oleh pendidik sebagai salah satu kemampuan dasar dalam berbahasa. Kurangnya budaya literasi memberikan pengaruh pada kemampuan menulis tidak hanya bagi peserta didik tetapi juga pendidik. Berdasarkan keadaan tersebut kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk 1) meningkatkan kemampuan menulis ilmiah untuk guru di SD Negeri Jeruksawit 01 Gondangrejo, Karanganyar, 2) menyusun strategi publikasi karya tulis ilmiah bagi guru di SD Negeri Jeruksawit 01 Gondangrejo, Karanganyar. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini akan dilaksanakan di SD Negeri 01 Jeruksawit, Godangrejo, Karanganyar. Masyarakat sasaran dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah guru dan karyawan di lingkungan SD Negeri 01 Jeruksawit. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah Participatory Learning and Action (PLA). Pelaksanaan kegiatan berfokus pada penggalian ide, kerangka tulisan, dan pengembangan kerangka menjadi tulisan. Berdasarkan pelaksanaan kegiatan diketahui bahwa guru mampu menentukan ide dan mengembangkan ide tersebut menjadi tulisan ilmiah populer. Guru juga mendapatkan referensi untuk publikasi tulisan ilmiah populer sebagai tindak lanjut dari tulisan yang telah dihasilkan.
