Abstract

This study aims to explore forms of local wisdom in Batu Bara Regency that are relevant to Social Studies learning in elementary schools through an ethnopedagogical interview approach. As the cultural heritage of Batu Bara's multiethnic community, consisting of Batak, Malay, Javanese, and Minangkabau ethnic groups, local wisdom has strong potential as a contextual learning resource that remains underutilized in Social Studies instruction. This qualitative case study was conducted at Pematang Rambai 08 PES and Bandar Sono 11 PES during the 2026/2027 academic year. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with fourth and fifth grade teachers, students, and four community leaders representing different ethnic groups, supported by participant observation and documentation. Data were analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model. The findings reveal three main results. First, eight forms of local wisdom relevant to elementary Social Studies were identified, including Dalihan Na Tolu, Tepung Tawar, interethnic mutual cooperation, the annual Pesta Tapai tradition, and Bolo Kampung. Second, the ethnopedagogical interview approach enhanced students' active participation and critical thinking compared with conventional instruction. Third, integrating local wisdom into Social Studies contributed to strengthening three dimensions of the Profil Pelajar Pancasila: global diversity, collaboration, and critical reasoning. The novelty of this study is the development of the Three Layer Ethnopedagogical Interview Model (MWET), which systematically connects Batu Bara's local wisdom with Social Studies learning outcomes in the Merdeka Curriculum and provides a practical framework for contextual learning in culturally diverse elementary classrooms

Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Natural Science learning on the five senses material and describe the learning motivation of students in the lower grades of UPT SDN 01 Mekar Laras. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with research subjects of second-grade teachers and students who were selected purposively because they were directly involved in AI-assisted learning. Data were collected through observation of the learning process, interviews with teachers and students, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model which includes data condensation, data presentation, and drawing and verifying conclusions. The results showed that the use of AI in science learning created a more interactive, interesting, and enjoyable learning atmosphere. Students appeared more enthusiastic, actively participated in learning activities, and showed a higher interest in the five senses material. Teachers also utilized AI as a medium to present material in a more varied and easy-to-understand way. These findings indicate that the use of AI can support the creation of a more meaningful learning experience and encourage the emergence of student learning motivation in science learning in lower grades.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of the EduLearn app-based, cross-disciplinary learning medium on elementary school students' Indonesian language literacy skills and their understanding of Pancasila values. This quantitative study employed a quasi-experimental design, specifically the Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The research subjects consisted of 28 students in the experimental group (using the EduLearn app) and 28 students in the control group (using conventional media). Data were collected through expert validation and pretest-posttest instruments. Validation results indicated that the EduLearn medium was highly suitable for use, with a validity score of 91.00%. An Independent Samples t-Test yielded a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) for both dependent variables, a finding reinforced by the MANOVA test (F-calculated = 48.215; Sig. = 0.000). The experimental group's average posttest scores reached 86.79 for Indonesian language literacy (N-Gain = 0.69) and 87.86 for the understanding of Pancasila values (N-Gain = 0.71), significantly surpassing the control group. Effect size calculations (Cohen's d) of 2.32 and 2.37 confirmed the medium's effectiveness as falling within the "very high" category. In conclusion, the EduLearn app proved effective in simultaneously enhancing elementary school students' literacy skills and their understanding of Pancasila values
