Abstract

The use of fuel is one thing that needs special attention, because most of the operating costs of a plant are fuel costs. One of the efforts to minimize the cost of generating fuel is called Economic dispatch. In this study, an Equal Incremental Cost method with a Linear Regression approach will be presented to obtain a minimum generation cost. The case taken is the Pangkalan Susu PLTU which operates two generating units. Based on the results of calculations using the Equal Incremental Cost method with the Linear Regression approach, the cost is -0.033% or an average of -13,111 $/hour.

Abstract

Distributed Generation (DG) is a small capacity generator located in the electricity distribution system and is usually placed on buses that are connected directly to the load. Placement of distributed generation is one of the technical efforts to reduce voltage drop and power losses in the system. In addition, load flow analysis is a study to plan and determine the amount of power in an electric power system. The results of power losses after adding distributed generation were the best in the fifth experiment on bus 149, where the system experienced a total loss of active power (P) previously of 720,822 kW, to 682,939 kW and total loss of reactive power (Q) previously of 530.02 kVar, to 405.835 kVar. From the results of the calculation of the power flow using ETAP software (Electrical Transient Analyzer Program). So, it can be concluded that the electrical network system can be said to be good. The results obtained are the more DG (wind turbine generator) that is input into the bus it will reduce the voltage drop that occurs. After simulating the overall voltage drop, it still meets the standards according to the results of the Text Report on ETAP.

Abstract

Every year the number of climbers increase, there are at least 70,000 climbers including researchers. The increase in the number of climbers will certainly increase the mortality risk of hypothermia. At least 18 people died from hypothermia in 2014 to 2015. The risk of hypothermia can be reduced by handling such as providing warmth to the patient. Warmth can be created by using a tool that produces the right heat, easy and safe to use, easy to carry and also affordable. This is the basis for researches to conduct research on designing heating products in tents as an effort to prevent hypothermia. This research uses the QFD (Quality Function Deployment) method in processing the results of the consumer’s voice, design the product concept, screening and selecting concept and analysis the final product design. Based on the data collection and processing that has been carried out, there are 10 criteria for consumer needs and interests for product, including practical tools to carry, safe to use, can warm the body to have additional functions as cellphone chargers. While the alternative concept chosen in the form of cylindrical tube, using a Li-ion battery, and a frame made of polypropilene plastic. From the chosen concept, then a heating lamp model is designed in the display when used and stored.

Abstract

Gases can form within the insulation system for various reasons while a transformer is in operation. If these gases are not promptly and properly managed, they can negatively impact the transformer's performance. Using the dissolved gas analysis (DGA) method to identify and assess the type and quantity of dissolved gases in transformer oil can uncover potential issues within the transformer. This information is crucial for guiding preventive maintenance and necessary repairs. Dissolved gas analysis testing was conducted by extracting transformer oil samples to identify signs of disturbances in the transformer based on the dissolved gas content. This research was conducted at the Paiton plant operations and maintenance services division. The condition of transformers was assessed by analyzing dissolved gases using the Rogers ratio method. Results indicate that the transformer at Paiton 9 is in good condition but overheating has occurred and requires treatment. Conversely, the transformers at Paiton 1 and 2 are in poor condition, showing signs of electrical faults and excessive heat. Despite several attempts to add inhibitors and conduct frequent testing, the transformers remained in poor condition, necessitating their replacement or repair.

Abstract

Electricity consumption has become an integral part of daily life and is pivotal in supporting various aspects of human life. North Aceh Regency, a tropical region in Indonesia, experiences significant seasonal fluctuations between the rainy and dry seasons. This research aims to investigate and analyze the impact of these seasonal differences on electricity consumption patterns by consumers in the region using the IBM SPSS statistical method. Monthly electricity consumption data from consumers in North Aceh Regency over a specific period were collected and analyzed using IBM SPSS software. Descriptive statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, and regression models were employed to identify significant differences in electricity consumption between the rainy and dry seasons and to understand the factors influencing consumption patterns. The results of the analysis indicate a significant difference in electricity consumption between the rainy and dry seasons in North Aceh Regency. The dry season shows an increase in electricity consumption, possibly related to factors such as the use of air conditioning and additional lighting.

Abstract

Based on data from the Pangkalan Susu steam power plant, the total amount of electrical energy used for generating process is on average 10% by the total of electrical energy generated by the plant. Increasing of electrical energy used will reduce the electrical energy sales to the network system. This research was carried out with reference according to ISO 50006:2014. This research is studies to the sample equipment with the largest rating capacity (significant energy user), such as boiler and turbine operation support equipment with on voltage 6 kV. The data of electrical energy in equipment is taken from the last 3 years historical data, namely in 2020, 2021 and 2022, Furthermore, the lowest point of electrical energy usage data was selected, then analyzed with the Linear Regression method to obtain the baseline Energy equation. The equation is used to conduct an analysis by comparing against the new data of the electrical energy in equipment, namely on April 1, 2023, the analysis showed that there was a waste of electrical energy of 164.12 kW equivalent to a fuel purchase loss of IDR 2,343,960 in 1 day. Furthermore, the baseline equation is used to input formulas in the AVEVA application (PI VISION). The Changes of electrical energy used will be monitored directly, so that if there is a waste of electrical energy, the operating pattern can be regulated directly to avoid energy waste in the electrical equipment and earn the fuel cost reduction of the Steam Power Plant.

Abstract

Fish farming is a job that many Indonesian people do, especially in villages. The nature of fish that is able to adapt quickly to transfer from pond to pond makes many residents choose to breed fish over other livestock. Many types of fish can be cultivated well, but most people choose to cultivate goldfish. Goldfish have an economic value that is quite tempting for the community. There are some fish that have a higher economic value, but people are more extra in maintaining them, for example in terms of feed. Goldfish can be fed only when the sun is hot. If the sun does not come out, then the goldfish should not be fed because it can cause the fish to die. Besides that, goldfish only need water flowing into the pond for fish oxygen. The number of people who breed fish, there are also many irresponsible people. The reason is, when the fish begin to grow up, many fish begin to disappear, making people nervous and hot. Based on the above problems, it provides a very potential opportunity to create a tool that can overcome community unrest. Fish farming theft detection tool which is an innovative tool to overcome or find out the perpetrators of theft. Thus, hopefully the tools used can reduce the risk of stealing fish and reduce the losses of fish cultivators.
