Abstract

Cat fish is one of preferred food for most Acehnese people, particularly in Lhokseumawe regions. This is the motive of most people are interested in cultivating such fish; beside the selling price is relatively high, it also has increasing ramp of demand every year. In order to meet the increasing demand, the fish farms are in need of appropriate feed aiming for upgrading cat fish growing rate. Around Lhokseumawe region, despite of numerous tofu industries the dregs are still not well utilized. The waste of tofu industries, which is tofu dregs, functions as cat fish feed. Tofu dregs made cat fish feed has numbers of advantages, such as accelerating the fish growth until 17-18%. This is due to the coarse fiber protein contain to be 7.11%, fat 4.93% and BETN 44.50%. Beside its nutritional advantages as alternative cat fish feed raw material, tofu dregs as cat fish feed material should be examined in technical and financial aspects so that it is guaranteed to be implemented. Hence, in this research the feasibility study was conducted on technical aspects of processing solid tofu dregs to be cat fish feed by using BEP and PP analysis methods. According to Payback Period (PP) value, the business has three months and six days period of time in order to return the initial investment capital. The production rate in one months must be above 542 kg in order to avoid from being lost. With the existing production capacity (1.092 kg/month), the cat fish feed price must be above IDR 6.116/kg in order to cover all expenditure in the time period.

Abstract

KM.6 Village is a village where most of its area functions as oil palm, rubber, and areca nut plantations. Citronella oil farmer community in Kec. Simpang Keuramat is the driving farmer who has initiated to grow fragrant lemongrass as one of the essential oil raw materials. The processing of fragrant lemongrass leaves into citronella oil significantly increases the economic value. In the field, things that affect the quality and quantity of citronella oil produced are found because farmers, as workers, are unskilled and inexperienced in the refining process and unscheduled harvesting and refining operations. To improve this situation, guidance was carried out as a form of community service from Malikussaleh University. The implementation of this service activity is by providing counseling and assistance in making harvest and distillation schedules. The scheduling guidance aims to produce more citronella oil. More citronella oil can be achieved by minimizing idle time, thereby increasing the effectiveness of farmers and workers, which leads to increased productivity of citronella oil refining. From the changes in harvest and production scheduling made, there was an increase in the yield of citronella oil refined by 6% for one month planning period. The main hope of this activity is to improve the welfare of local farming communities by cultivating and processing fragrant lemongrass plants so that they can earn a living and fulfill their proper needs.

Abstract

Abstract Arabica coffee is one type of coffee that dominates most of the world's coffee market. In Indonesia, arabica coffee can be found in Bali, Java, North Sumatra, Toraja and the Gayo Highlands. The Gayo Highlands are the best coffee producers in Indonesia. One of the determinants of coffee quality and productivity is the quality of coffee plantations. The problems faced by coffee farmers in Pante Raya Village, Kab. Bener Meriah is a dense soil condition because the land was previously used as paddy fields. As for the coffee plantation area of 1 ha, the yield of coffee beans is 2 tons with coffee husk waste as much as 1 ton per year. For now, the coffee skin is just trash. On the other hand, people use fertilizers to maintain and increase coffee productivity, but it costs a lot. Seeing these problems, community service was carried out in Pante Raya Village, Bener Meriah Regency by making biopori using coffee husk waste, leaves and twigs of coffee plants. The installation of this biopore is expected to be useful as a waste treatment medium that is useful for fertilizing the soil, increasing soil pores and absorption of water in the soil. This service activity will be carried out in the form of direct education and training on making biopori by utilizing the waste. Biopori is expected to reduce waste as well as provide alternative fertilizers that are safe and cheap. Keywords: Coffee, Gayo, biopori, waste, fertilizer

Catfish is one of the favorite foods of some Acehnese people, including for lhokseumawe region, and surrounding areas. This is what makes the community interested in cultivating catfish, in addition to the selling price is quite expensive as well as the demand for catfish that increases every year. To meet the increasing demand catfish breeders need the right feed to increase the growth rate of fish. This feed is a problem for farmers in the Lhokseumawe region because of the high price. The industry knows around Lhokseumawe quite a lot but industrial waste knows not to be utilized properly. Tofu waste in the form of tofu pulp can be used as catfish animal feed. The purpose of this devotional activity is to provide education and training to the community and catfish farmers in order to utilize industrial waste tofu as an alternative feed so as to solve the problem of too high feed prices. This devotional activity is carried out by providing counseling and technical guidance to the community so that it can make feed independently. Feed results showed the feed was able to float for 30-50 seconds and the fish showed interest in the feed. The cost aspect is known that the use of feed from tofu waste can reduce the cost of feed up to 50% with the calculation of the cost of the manufacturer's feed is Rp 18,000 / kg and feed from tofu pulp has a selling value of Rp 9,000, so the savings that occur are quite significant. Abstract

The waste from the distillation of citronella oil in KM 6 Village, Simpang Keuramat District, has yet to be appropriately utilized. The distillation business can process 1.6-2 tons of fragrant lemongrass leaves in a day. If the oil content of fragrant lemongrass leaves is 0.5%-1.5%, then the waste produced can reach 1.5-2 tons in a day. Debris that has accumulated is usually burned openly. The smoke from this combustion process has an impact on air pollution. In addition, ash from burning also pollutes river water. This service aims to reduce air and river water pollution from the wrong waste treatment process by utilizing the waste as biochar. This biochar will then be used to increase soil nutrients. To ensure biochar quality, combustion is carried out through a pyrolysis process so that the charcoal produced is more significant and produces liquid smoke as a by-product. This service activity is implemented by providing counseling and demonstrations demonstrating the process of processing citronella waste into biochar so that the resulting biochar product can benefit the surrounding community and be safe for the environment. The community understood the importance of good waste management from discussions and demonstrations at this service activity. All participants understood the procedures for managing biomass waste, especially citronella waste, into biochar with 80% understanding.

Abstract

Rice washing water is generally not used and considered as waste. The elements contained in rice washing water are nutrients needed for plants. From this fact, rice washing water waste has the potential to be used as liquid organic fertilizer for plants. In general, rice washing water from households in Kenine Village, Wih Pesam District, Bener Meriah Regency is disposed of without being used properly, such as being thrown away or directly watered on plants. On the one hand, the area is increasingly using inorganic fertilizers on plants, including the main commodity crop, namely coffee. Based on these problems, community service activities were carried out in Kenine Village, Bener Meriah Regency through counseling activities to make organic fertilizer for the village community to use rice washing water waste as the main ingredient with molasses and EM4 as an alternative solution to the use of commercial chemical fertilizers which are much more economical and secure from the organic side.
