Abstract

The plastic recycling industry holds significant potential to reduce environmental impact and create new economic value. However, this industry faces challenges such as high production costs, process inefficiencies, and increasing sustainability demands. This article discusses operational management strategies, including the implementation of lean manufacturing, IoT-based smart technologies, and circular economy principles. Lean manufacturing focuses on waste reduction and efficiency improvement, while IoT enables real-time data analysis to detect and resolve inefficiencies. The adoption of circular economy principles demonstrates a reduction in the use of new raw materials, production costs, and waste. The findings reveal that combining these strategies enhances operational efficiency, reduces expenditures, and supports environmental sustainability. This article provides recommendations for the plastic recycling industry to innovate continuously in addressing global challenges

Abstract

This research discusses innovative strategies for managing supply risks of plastic waste materials for SMEs and startups in the recycling sector. Stable and high-quality raw material availability is crucial for maintaining production efficiency, profitability, and environmental sustainability. However, challenges such as fluctuating supply volumes, inconsistent waste quality, and low community participation remain major obstacles. Using a conceptual approach, this paper explores three main strategies to mitigate these risks: supply source diversification, supply chain digitalization, and collaboration with external actors. Digitalization through IoT, big data, and blockchain technologies enhances transparency and efficiency in supply management. Meanwhile, partnerships with governments, communities, waste banks, and financial institutions strengthen supply chain sustainability through regulatory, financial, and social innovation support. Additionally, incentive mechanisms such as deposit-refund systems and eco-point reward programs effectively increase community participation in waste collection. The findings indicate that the synergy between technological innovation, multi-sector collaboration, and public policy forms the core foundation for developing a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable plastic waste supply chain.

Abstract

The pottery industry, as part of the craft subsector within the creative economy, plays an important role in strengthening MSMEs and local economic development, yet it continues to face significant competitiveness challenges. These challenges are not only related to technological limitations and market access, but also to weak financial management practices that remain fragmented and short-term oriented. This review article aims to systematically examine the role of integrated financial models in enhancing the competitiveness of the pottery industry. Using a literature review approach, this study synthesizes prior research on MSME financial management, cost efficiency, cash flow, investment planning, and business performance. The findings indicate that integrating financing, cost control, cash flow management, and investment planning contributes positively to operational efficiency, product quality, market access, and business sustainability. This article contributes theoretically by positioning finance as a strategic system rather than a purely administrative function in strengthening pottery industry competitiveness. Practical and policy implications highlight the importance of financial literacy, inclusive financing support, and financial digitalization to facilitate the effective and sustainable implementation of integrated financial models.
