Abstract

The utilization of Solar Power Plants (plts) as a renewable energy source continues to increase in line with the growing demand for environmentally friendly energy. However, the performance of an SPP is highly influenced by environmental conditions and variations in its electrical parameters. Therefore, a monitoring system capable of providing real-time information and remote access is required. This study aims to design and implement an Internet of Things (IoT)-Based Solar Power Plant Parameter Monitoring System to monitor key parameters such as voltage, current, power, and solar panel temperature. The system uses an ESP32 microcontroller as the main processing unit connected to various measurement sensors. The collected data are transmitted through the internet to a monitoring platform, allowing users to observe the condition of the solar power plant in real time using mobile devices or computers. System testing was conducted to evaluate sensor reading performance, data communication stability, and overall monitoring system functionality. Data collection was carried out from a Solar Power Plant (SPP) between 09:00 AM and 03:00 PM. The results showed that the system was able to monitor and transmit solar power plant parameters in real time with good accuracy and reliability. The implementation of IoT technology in this monitoring system is expected to improve maintenance efficiency, reduce the risk of system failures, and support the optimization of solar power plant performance in generating electrical energy.

Abstract

The implementation of an Internet of Things (IoT)-based control and monitoring system for the neon box at the Electrical Engineering Department Building aims to improve operational efficiency, installation safety, and the effectiveness of outdoor lighting maintenance. As an information medium and building identity, the neon box requires real-time monitoring of power, voltage, current, light intensity, and operational status. In this study, a system was designed and implemented using a NodeMCU ESP8266 microcontroller as the main controller, a PZEM-004T sensor to measure voltage, current, and power, a TSL2561 lux sensor to read the light intensity produced by the neon box, and a relay module as an actuator to control the neon box lamp. The Blynk IoT platform is used as the interface to display monitoring data and control the neon box remotely. The system is capable of sending data periodically to the server and displaying information such as voltage, current, power, energy, and illumination levels through a digital dashboard, allowing users to monitor the neon box condition at any time via a smartphone. In addition to monitoring functions, the relay module integrated with the IoT system enables operators to remotely turn the neon box on or off through the Blynk IoT application. The Blynk IoT interface successfully displays four main parameters: voltage, electrical power, lumen, and neon box status at the Electrical Engineering Building. The PZEM-004T sensor achieved an average reading error of 0.66% for voltage and 2.53% for current, while the TSL2561 sensor had an average error of 1.42%. The system can detect lamp failure through combined voltage and power readings, with a response time of 0.856 seconds on the Blynk IoT application, which is influenced by internet network quality.

Abstract

The output power monitoring system of a photovoltaic (PV) power plant was developed to analyze the effect of surface temperature control on solar panel performance. The study utilized a 50 Wp monocrystalline solar panel. An experimental method was employed by comparing panel performance under two operating conditions: without a cooling system and with a water-cooling system. The system was integrated with a real-time monitoring platform capable of measuring panel surface temperature, voltage, current, and output power continuously. Testing was conducted from 09:00 to 13:00 WIB. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of a water-cooling system with a real-time monitoring system for a 50 Wp PV module to directly evaluate the relationship between panel surface temperature and output power. The results indicate that the implementation of the cooling system increased the output power from 16.95 W to 29.70 W at 10:00, from 32.64 W to 35.88 W at 11:00, and from 36.72 W to 38.64 W at 13:00. In addition, the panel surface temperature remained more stable within the range of 29.3–35.6°C.  These findings demonstrate that reducing the panel surface temperature can effectively enhance output power and improve the operational stability of the PV system

Abstract

This paper presents the design and implementation of a 58-volt LiFePO₄ battery voltage management system for electric vehicles, featuring remote monitoring and control via the Blynk application. The system continuously monitors battery voltage levels and enables control through a Solid-State Relay (SSR) connected to a NodeMCU ESP8266 microcontroller. Through the Blynk interface, users can view real-time voltage readings along with the corresponding battery capacity percentage. The NodeMCU ESP8266 demonstrated reliable performance throughout all test phases, maintaining a stable internet connection. The average voltage measurement deviation displayed on the Blynk application was approximately 0.74%. The SSR is configured to disconnect the vehicle’s power supply when the battery voltage reaches around 46.3 volts or when the battery percentage decreases to 0.16%. This disconnection can be triggered manually through the Blynk application or automatically by the SSR. The disconnection process can be carried out through the Blynk application or automatically via the Solid State Relay (SSR). Remote disconnection via the Blynk application serves as an additional safety measure activated when suspicious conditions or activities are detected. This mechanism safeguards the battery from excessive discharge, promoting better performance and extending its service life by cutting off the load at critical limits.

Abstract

Forest and land fires represent a recurring environmental challenge in Indonesia, especially during the prolonged dry season. These incidents result in significant consequences, including the destruction of ecosystems, threats to human health, and considerable economic disruption. To address this problem, the present research focuses on the development of an Internet of Things (IoT)-based system designed to predict and monitor the risk of forest fires by implementing the Fuzzy Logic method. The prototype integrates several sensors, namely a DHT22 sensor for measuring temperature and humidity, an MQ-2 sensor for detecting gas and smoke concentrations, and a flame sensor for identifying the presence of fire. All sensors are connected to a NodeMCU ESP8266 microcontroller that serves as the core of data processing and wireless communication. The collected sensor data is evaluated using a Fuzzy Logic algorithm, which classifies the fire risk into three distinct levels: “Safe,” “Caution,” and “Hazardous.” Experimental testing demonstrates that the system responds effectively to fluctuations in temperature, humidity, smoke levels, and visible flame in real time, with alerts displayed through a web-based dashboard. The DHT22 sensor exhibits an average error rate between 4.8% and 5% for temperature readings and between 4.1% and 4.5% for humidity measurements. In addition, the flame sensor successfully detects fire sources at distances reaching 300 cm. The outcomes confirm that the system achieves a high degree of reliability and accuracy, thereby providing valuable support for early warning, strengthening preventive strategies, and assisting authorities in mitigating the severe impacts of forest and land fires.

Abstract

The utilization of Solar Power Plants (PLTS) for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) is an effective solution to provide an independent, environmentally friendly, and sustainable electrical energy source. This study aims to design and develop an Internet of Things (IoT)-based solar power system for MSME carts that is capable of supplying electrical energy while providing real-time monitoring of electrical parameters. An experimental method was employed through hardware and software design, system assembly, and performance testing. The proposed system consists of a solar panel, solar charge controller, battery, inverter, voltage and current sensors, and a NodeMCU ESP8266 microcontroller for transmitting monitoring data to an IoT platform. System testing was conducted from 08:00 to 17:00 to evaluate variations in voltage, current, and panel temperature under different levels of solar radiation. The results indicate that the solar panel voltage gradually increased and reached a maximum value of 20.0 V at 12:00, before decreasing as solar radiation declined in the afternoon. The Battery Charge Regulator (BCR) maintained a relatively stable output voltage despite fluctuations in the input voltage from the solar panel. Furthermore, the IoT-based monitoring system successfully displayed voltage, current, and temperature data accurately, continuously, and in real time through a monitoring interface, enabling users to monitor system performance remotely. These findings demonstrate that the proposed IoT-based solar power system operates effectively as an independent energy source and supports more efficient energy management for MSME carts.

Abstract

Abstract

The design and development of a Battery Management System (BMS) with an Adaptive Current Protection feature based on temperature aims to improve battery safety, reliability, and service life by automatically adjusting the charging and discharging current according to temperature conditions. This study employed an experimental method by developing a system consisting of a temperature sensor, current sensor, Battery Management System (BMS) module, ESP32 microcontroller, and an Internet of Things (IoT)-based monitoring platform for real-time data visualization. System testing was conducted under various battery temperature conditions to evaluate its ability to monitor temperature, regulate current adaptively, and transmit measurement data to the monitoring platform. The results showed that the proposed system was able to accurately detect battery temperature changes and automatically adjust the allowable current according to predefined temperature thresholds. Under normal temperature conditions, the system allowed the maximum operating current to maintain battery performance. As the temperature increased, the current limit was gradually reduced, and the protection mechanism was activated when the battery reached unsafe temperature levels. Furthermore, temperature, current, and voltage data were continuously displayed on the IoT monitoring platform, enabling users to monitor battery conditions remotely in real time. The study demonstrates that the proposed Battery Management System with Adaptive Current Protection effectively enhances operational safety, maintains battery performance stability, and contributes to extending battery lifespan.
