Abstract

The research was aimed to obtain a combination of rice straw (S) and tithonia (Tithonia diversifolia) (T) to increasechemical fertilizers use efficiency (FUE) on paddy soil which was conducted in Sicincin, Padang Pariaman Regencyin 2008. The experiment consisted of 8 treatments (A= recommendation input: 200 kg Urea ha-1 (Ru) + 100 kg SP-36ha-1 (Rp) + 75 kg KCl ha-1 (Rk)), B = Ru + 2Rp, C = 2.5 Mg Tithonia (T) ha-1 + 75% Ru+10 kg SP36 ha-1 as a starter Pfertilizer (P-s), D = T + 75% Ru, E = 5 Mg Rice Straw (S) ha-1 (Sr) + Ru + Rp + Rk, F = Sr + Ru + P-s, G = T + 0.5Sr + 75%Ru + P-s, H = T + 0.5S + 50% Ru + P-s) with three replications. The treatments were randomly allocated in each blockRandomized Block Design (RBD). The results showed that application of fresh organic matter (OM) from tithonia +75% recommended Urea without KCl and P-starter addition on intensification rice field increased synthetic FUE onpaddy soil. Application of tithonia for 2.5 Mg ha-1 + 75% of recommended Urea (150 kg Urea), without synthetic Pand K fertilizers seemed to be the best treatment to get the highest yield (8.08 Mg Harvested Dry Seed (HDS) ha-1(= 7.05 Mg Milled Dry Seed (MDS) ha-1) of rice, then it was followed by the treatment based on farmer tradition inputwith the yield was 7.25 Mg HDS ha-1 (= 6.41 Mg MDS ha-1). The use of fresh tithonia as much as 2.5 Mg ha-1 basedon its dry weight could be considered as an alternative fertilizer for rice crops in intensification rice field.[How to Cite: Gusnidar, S Yasin, Burbey, Yulnafatmawita, S Saleh and R Andhika. 2012. Abstract

Cold lava floods contain volcano material that is rich in micronutrient which will gradually release through weathering process. The study of micronutrient elements affected by cold lava floods was conducted in Nagari Limo Kaum, Tanah Datar Regency, from October to March 2025. This research was aimed to assess and analyze the content of micronutrients (Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn, Mo and B) in land impacted by cold lava floods in Nagari Limo Kaum, Tanah Datar Regency. The study was carried out using a survey method. Soil samples were collected using purposive sampling from lava deposit (Locations 2, 3, and 4), areas affected by floodwater flow without deposition (Location 5), and unaffected areas (Location 1) as a comparison. Soil samples were collected from 0-20 cm soil depth at each location with 3 replicates. The analyzed parameters included soil pH, cation exchange capacity (CEC), exchangeable aluminum, and micronutrients (Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn, Mo and B). The results showed that increased the micronutrient content and exchangeable aluminium, increased while Zn and B content had low to very high criteria. The chemical properties especially pH and CEC of the soil  at L1 and L5, were lower that those at impacted soils.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

[SPATIAL DISTRIBUTION SOIL CARBON MARAPI MOUNTAIN]. Volcanic activity will significantly affect the carbon component and its fraction in the soil. Volcanic soils have high carbon content. This study aimeds to map the soil carbon and its fraction vocanic soil of Mt. Marapi. A total of 93 soil samples were taken with a grid interval of 750 x 750 m at a depth of 0-20 cm spread across the Southwest, West and Northwest areas affected by the eruption of Mt. Marapi at a radius of 4.5-7 km from the peak. The parameters analyzed were: bulk density, soil pH, C-organic, C fractions. The results showed that, soil pH ranged from 4.59-6.19 (pH H2O) and 3.8-5.8 (pH KCl), C organic ranged from 3.00%-14.16%, C-very labile ranged from 0.001-0.045%, C-labile ranged from 0.14-1.41%, C boundts non-crystalline clay ranged from 0.20-2.10%, C-metal complex ranged from 0.11-1.70%. Soil pH in Northwest was different from those of in West and Southwest. Very labile carbon in Southwest slope was not the same as those found in West and Northwest. C-metal complex in Northwest soil did not the same as those found in West and Southwest. The diversity of carbon fractions can be used as a reference in tillage to maintain carbon storage and become a marker for soil health. Full text pdf
