Abstract

Abstract

Islamic Financial Institution Pension Funds (DPLK Syariah) represent a long-term financial instrument aimed at ensuring retirees’ economic security while adhering to Islamic principles. Despite the rapid growth of the Islamic finance industry in Indonesia, the development of Islamic pension funds remains relatively limited compared to conventional pension schemes. This article seeks to systematically examine the key challenges faced in the implementation of DPLK Syariah in Indonesia and to formulate strategic efforts to strengthen its development. Employing a qualitative approach, this study adopts a literature review method by analyzing scholarly articles, regulatory frameworks, policy reports, and relevant academic publications published between 2022 and 2025. The findings reveal that the implementation of DPLK Syariah is constrained by multidimensional challenges, including regulatory disharmony, limited availability of sharia-compliant investment instruments, low public literacy and participation, as well as institutional and human resource capacity weaknesses. Furthermore, the dominance of conventional pension funds continues to restrict market penetration for Islamic pension schemes. To address these challenges, this study proposes several strategic measures, such as enhancing Islamic financial literacy, promoting product and technological innovation, expanding sharia-based investment instruments, strengthening governance and human capital, and improving regulatory harmonization. This study is expected to contribute both conceptually and practically to policymakers, industry practitioners, and academics in fostering a more inclusive, competitive, and sustainable Islamic pension fund ecosystem in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Sharia Governance, Good Corporate Governance (GCG), and the Sharia Supervisory Board (DPS) on fraud prevention in Sharia Commercial Banks in Indonesia during the 2019–2024 period. Even though governance implementation in Islamic banking continues to be strengthened, fraud cases still occur, so the effectiveness of Sharia supervisory mechanisms needs further examination. Moreover, previous research results still show inconsistent findings and generally have not tested these three variables simultaneously in Sharia Commercial Banks. This study uses a quantitative approach with a causal associative research type and utilizes secondary data sourced from annual reports, Good Corporate Governance reports, Sharia Governance reports, and Sharia Supervisory Board reports. The sample is determined using a purposive sampling technique, resulting in 12 Sharia Commercial Banks with 72 observations over six years. The analysis was conducted using panel data regression with a Fixed Effect Model (FEM) approach. The study results show that Sharia Governance has a positive and significant effect on fraud prevention. Meanwhile, Good Corporate Governance and the Sharia Supervisory Board show a positive influence, but they do not have a significant partial effect yet. Simultaneously, all three variables have a positive and significant effect on fraud prevention. This study contributes to enriching the literature on the effectiveness of Sharia governance by testing the integrated mechanism of three oversight systems in Sharia Commercial Banks in Indonesia. The findings suggest the importance of strengthening Sharia-based and spiritual governance oversight systems by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and Sharia Commercial Banks to enhance fraud prevention effectiveness and maintain public trust.

Abstract

Abstract

This study explores how Muslim digital natives perceive and construct the meaning of Shariah security in their engagement with blockchain-based financial platforms. Using an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA), data were gathered through in-depth interviews and digital artifacts from 20 participants actively using decentralized financial applications. Findings reveal that Shariah security is understood as a multidimensional construct integrating spiritual–moral assurance, ethical–procedural integrity, and technical–operational protection. Trust in blockchain emerged as a negotiated outcome shaped by religious identity, technological literacy, and community-mediated discourse. Participants’ engagement with blockchain was closely tied to processes of techno-religious identity construction, while social media functioned as a primary epistemic environment shaping perceptions of Shariah compliance. Emotional responses, such as reassurance, anxiety, and empowerment, further influenced security judgments. The study contributes a user-centered framework for understanding Shariah-oriented meaning-making in digital finance and offers implications for designing culturally aligned fintech ecosystems.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Non-Performing Financing (NPF), and Financing to Deposit Ratio (FDR) on the vulnerability of Sharia commercial banks in Indonesia for the period 2020-2024. The main problem studied is the extent to which internal banking factors, especially capital, financing risk, and liquidity, affect the level of vulnerability (vulnerability) of the Islamic banking system as measured using the Z-score approach. This research occupies an important position in filling the gap of empirical studies on the financial stability of Islamic banking through a quantitative approach based on pooled time series (Pooled OLS) data using EViews 13 software. The method used is a quantitative approach with regression analysis techniques pooled time series data (pooled OLS) using software EViews 13. The results showed that CAR and NPF had a positive but not significant effect on vulnerability, while FDR had a negative and significant effect. Simultaneously, the three variables significantly affect the vulnerability of Islamic banks. This result confirms that the stability of Islamic banking is influenced by a combination of capital strength, financing quality, and intermediation efficiency in maintaining financial resilience in accordance with Islamic economic principles.  Keywords : Capital Adequacy Ratio, Non-Performing Financing, Financing to Deposit Ratio, Vulnerability, Islamic Banking
