Abstract

Abstract

Aging is marked by physiological and psychological changes, including diminished immune function that increases susceptibility to infections and chronic diseases. This study explores the role of Emotional Intelligence (EI) in preventing immune system dysfunction among the elderly using a mixed-methods sequential explanatory design. Quantitative data were collected through surveys assessing EI and immune biomarkers (IL-6, CRP, cortisol), while qualitative interviews explored emotional regulation strategies and perceived impacts on immune health. The results revealed a significant inverse correlation between EI levels and inflammatory markers, including IL-6 (r = -0.45, p < 0.01) and CRP (r = -0.38, p < 0.05). Participants with higher EI scores also demonstrated more stable cortisol rhythms and better vaccine response rates (p < 0.05). Results show that higher EI levels in older adults are linked to lower inflammation, greater stress resilience, and improved immune homeostasis. These findings suggest that EI acts not only as a psychological asset but also as a physiological buffer, modulating neuroimmune pathways crucial for systemic health in aging. Qualitative insights highlighted adaptive emotional regulation strategies—such as mindfulness, proactive coping, and emotional reframing—as key contributors to immune resilience. Social connectedness, self-awareness, and stress management emerged as vital components of psychological and physiological well-being. This study advocates for integrating EI-based interventions—such as mindfulness training, emotional coaching, and social-emotional learning—into geriatric care. By adopting a holistic biopsychosocial model, EI can serve as a strategic tool for enhancing immune function and overall well-being among older adults.

Abstract

In the continuously evolving digital era, the challenge of enhancing student engagement in the teaching and learning process is becoming increasingly complex. This research aims to explore and analyze the strategic application of emotional and spiritual intelligence as tools to enhance student engagement. Emotional intelligence, which includes the ability to recognize, understand, and manage emotions, plays a crucial role in building positive relationships between students and educators. On the other hand, spiritual intelligence allows students to find meaning and purpose in learning, which can enhance their intrinsic motivation. This study uses a qualitative approach by collecting data through surveys, in-depth interviews, and case study analyses in various educational institutions. The research results indicate that the integration of emotional and spiritual intelligence in teaching methods can create a more inclusive, supportive, and responsive learning environment. Students who are emotionally and spiritually engaged show increased academic involvement, better learning outcomes, and higher psychological well-being. Thus, this research recommends that educators adopt strategies that integrate both types of intelligence into their curriculum and teaching practices. These findings are expected to provide insights and guidance for educators to create more meaningful and effective learning experiences in the digital era, as well as to prepare students for future challenges.

Abstract

Sukarame Tourism Village in Pandeglang Regency, Banten Province, is known as “The Land of Diversity” due to its rich natural, cultural, and professional diversity, encompassing fisherman, salted fish and bamboo fan craftsmen, teachers, MSMEs, health cadres, and Pokdarwis groups. This diversity holds great potential for inclusive and sustainable economic development. The Community Service Program (PkM), conducted on April 25–26, 2025, aimed to enhance the capacity of village communities in supporting tourism village development followed by 50 local communities. The method employed a participatory and educational approach through thematic training, entrepreneurship simulations, local potential mapping, and the formation of a cross- sector communication forum. The program outcomes indicate increased knowledge and skills among participants in areas such as digital marketing, tourism packaging, nutrition education, seafood processing, and household economic diversification. Furthermore, the initiative successfully facilitated the early formation of a village tourism forum to promote collaboration and integrated planning. These results affirm literature suggesting that community-based tourism development requires multi-stakeholder synergy, active local participation, and sustainable strategies grounded in local potential. This PkM activity recommends continued mentoring, integration with regional government programs, and the development of a community-based tourism roadmap to ensure long-term impact and sustainability. Abstract

Hypertension has dangerous impacts on health, such as stroke, blurred vision, kidney problems, and a tendency to become irritable. Non-pharmacological therapy for hypertension is lifestyle modification by adjusting eating patterns or diet, such as bananas. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of Ambon banana juice in reducing blood pressure in people with hypertension. Method: This research used a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pre-posttest in Indonesia. This study included 18 participants, sufferers of mild and moderate hypertension, not taking antihypertensive drugs, and not being sick. The instruments used are blood pressure measuring instruments and digital and mercury stethoscopes. The results showed a significant difference between systolic blood pressure before and after administering Ambon banana juice to hypertension sufferers, the Asymp Sig value. (2-tailed) = 0.001, then the p-value = 0.0005 (< 0.05). Apart from that, for diastolic blood pressure, the p-value = 0.000 (< 0.05) means there is a difference between diastolic blood pressure before and after therapy with Ambon banana juice. However, Ambon banana juice reduces diastolic blood pressure in hypertension sufferers. This study highlights that Ambon banana juice effectively reduces blood pressure in hypertensive patients include pre-hypertension and mild hypertension.

Abstract

Emergency nursing is specialized nursing that focuses on care that requires immediate medical attention to avoid long-term disability or death. During the COVID-19 pandemic, emergency nurses are on the front lines and must be prepared, and must be able to sort and select patients safely. However, emergency nursing services are very risky in transmitting exposure to the COVID-19 virus. This study aims to assess and compare the levels of mental and emotional disorders, depression, and anxiety suffered by emergency room nurses in the Intensive Care Unit, Operating Room, and Emergency Room. In this comparative study, we collected data from 92 nurses using a cross-sectional correlation design. In addition to the Sociodemographic Characterization, Psychoemotional Disorder Scale, Depression Scale, and COVID-19 Anxiety Scale. Levels of depression were higher in operating room nurses than in the intensive care unit and emergency room nurses (54.17 ± 14.08 vs 48.53 ± 11.92, p<0.01). (48.36 ± 13.40 vs 45.74 ± 11.79, p < 0.01). The pandemic is having a significant impact on the mental health of emergency room caregivers. New specific support measures should be formulated. More research is needed to focus on the psychological resilience of emergency department nurses.

Abstract

The increasing integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in educational counseling has introduced new opportunities and ethical challenges in decision-making processes related to student support services. This study aims to develop a set of ethical guidelines tailored to the use of AI-assisted systems in educational counseling, focusing on transparency, fairness, accountability, privacy, and human oversight. Employing a qualitative methodology, the research synthesizes insights from educational technologists, counseling professionals, AI ethicists, and policymakers through in-depth interviews and Delphi-based consensus. The proposed framework addresses ethical dilemmas arising from algorithmic bias, informed consent, data protection, and the balance between human judgment and machine recommendations. Findings suggest that while AI can enhance efficiency and personalization in counseling, it must operate within clearly defined ethical boundaries to safeguard student autonomy, well-being, and equity. The resulting guidelines are intended to serve as a foundational reference for educational institutions, developers, and regulatory bodies in the responsible deployment of AI in student counseling contexts.

Abstract

Background: Older adults represent a highly vulnerable population in psychiatric emergency settings due to cognitive decline, multimorbidity, and psychosocial instability. Although psychiatric emergency nursing interventions are increasingly implemented, existing evidence remains fragmented and lacks comprehensive synthesis focusing specifically on nursing-led, non-pharmacological approaches in emergency contexts. The research aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of psychiatric emergency nursing interventions in reducing agitation, physical restraint use, and emergency pharmacotherapy among older adults, and to identify the most effective intervention components. Methods: This review was conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) 2020 guidelines. The protocol has been submitted to PROSPERO and is currently under review. A comprehensive search was performed in PubMed, CINAHL, PsycINFO, and Scopus for studies published between January 2013 and December 2023, with the final search conducted in December 2023. A total of 1,246 records were identified; 27 studies met the inclusion criteria and were included in the meta-analysis. Risk of bias was assessed using design-appropriate appraisal tools. Data were synthesized using a random-effects model. Statistical heterogeneity was evaluated using the I² statistic, and sensitivity analyses were performed to assess robustness. Results: Psychiatric emergency nursing interventions including intensive therapeutic communication, structured de-escalation strategies, and family involvement significantly reduced agitation among older adults (pooled effect size = -0.68; 95% CI: -0.84 to -0.52; I² = 75%). These interventions were also associated with decreased use of physical restraints and emergency pharmacological management. Most randomized studies demonstrated low risk or some concerns, while non-randomized studies exhibited moderate risk of bias. Conclusion: Nursing-led psychiatric emergency interventions are effective in reducing agitation and minimizing restrictive practices among older adults in emergency settings. However, substantial heterogeneity across studies limits the certainty of evidence. These findings support the development of standardized evidence-based clinical protocols and targeted geriatric psychiatric nurse training, particularly in resource-constrained emergency systems. Further high-quality randomized trials are required to strengthen the evidence base and inform policy implementation
