Abstract

The hemodialysis process is essential for patients with chronic kidney disease to maintain their lives. However, this routine and continuous process can cause complications in the body. Patients undergoing hemodialysis experience changes in functional status across physical, psychological, social, and environmental health domains. This study was carried out to determine the effect ESA (Exercise and Self-Affirmation) intervention on the functional status of patients with chronic kidney disease. Previous studies show that physical exercise combined with self-affirmation interventions can improve mood and cognitive function. Self-affirmation has been shown to reduce depression levels, improve sleep quality, enhance social participation, and ultimately improve the quality of life. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group, involving thirty- nine patients in the control group and thirty-nine patients in the intervention group at the hemodialysis unit of PKU Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. Functional status was assessed using the SF- 36 questionnaire and analyzed using paired t-tests for paired groups and independent t-tests for unpaired groups. The average SF-36 score before the ESA intervention was 44.53, and the average score after the intervention was 69.37. The t-test results showed a significance value of 0.000 (p<0.05). These results show a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results in the intervention group after the ESA intervention. In conclusion, the ESA intervention can improve the functional status of hemodialysis patients, so that their physical and mental function is better. The ESA intervention positively affects the functional status of patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis.

Abstract

Indonesia is currently facing a double burden of disease, namely infectious diseases (infectious diseases) and non-communicable diseases (degenerative diseases), which are increasing. Currently, non- communicable diseases (NCDs) have replaced infectious diseases as the dominant disease and are the cause of higher deaths compared to infectious diseases. That there has been an increase in key NCD indicators. The increase in cases of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) will significantly increase the burden on society and the government, because handling them requires a long time, large costs and high technology. PTM cases are not transmitted, but they are deadly and cause individuals to become unproductive or less productive. NCDs can be prevented by controlling risk factors through early detection. One of the government's efforts is the CERDIK program to control Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). This program is implemented to prevent deaths due to non-communicable diseases by emphasizing promotive and preventive aspects. Based on the background above, this activity aims to support government programs in efforts to control NCDs by assisting cadres in early detection and smart education as part of controlling NCDs. Training activities are carried out by providing demonstrations and teaching how to do early detection related to screening, measuring vital signs, checking body weight, height, body mass index, checking blood sugar, cholesterol and uric acid. Apart from that, cadres are also given clever education regarding controlling non-communicable diseases. The results of the evaluation that have been carried out are that the majority of cadres are in the good category regarding knowledge and attitudes in early detection of PTM.

Abstract

The problem that occurs in the Pongok Community is the lack of awareness and knowledge of the Pongok village community regarding the disposal and management of household waste. The community disposes of rubbish by throwing it into the sea and burning it. Village cadres have not yet been formed for waste management in Pongok village. There are health impacts from the effects of burning rubbish such as respiratory diseases and problems with the fetus during pregnancy. The target of this activity is Pongok community cadres, and the outcome is that the cadres are expected to be able to make household waste management more useful. The method used in this service is to increase cadres' knowledge and demonstrate the management of household waste that can be recycled, so that it can change people's behavior.
