Abstract

Abstract

Shallots contribute significantly to the formation of food commodity inflation caused by high price fluctuations. Precise price forecasting is vital for all agribusiness actors, from farmers, traders, and consumers to production and inventory management. This research aims to identify the forecasting prices for shallot producers and consumers and formulate strategies to increase the competitiveness of shallots. This research uses the SARIMA method to capture seasonal elements in the data. The data used is time series data on shallot prices at the consumer and producer levels from January-November 2021. Determining the best SARIMA model uses the auto-arima technique, which shows that the best SARIMA for shallot prices at the producer level is ARIMA (2,1,2)(2,0,0)[12]. In contrast, the price of shallots at the consumer level is ARIMA (5,1,1)(1,0,1)[12]. The prediction results show that the dynamics of shallot prices in the future will continue to follow seasonal patterns as in previous years, namely, high prices during the lean season and religious holidays and low prices during the harvest season. The government needs to strengthen its policy of stabilizing shallot prices at both consumer and producer levels. Availability of agricultural inputs, adoption of technology for post-harvest and marketing, value-added innovation, and infrastructure improvements are strategic efforts to strengthen the competitiveness of shallots. Abstract

Small-scale fishers in Bengkulu City play an important role in the production of capture fisheries, but many still live in poverty and face social challenges that threaten their welfare. This study aims to analyze the social resilience of small-scale fisher households and the factors that influence the social resilience of small-scale fisher households in Bengkulu City. The social resilience index of small-scale fisher households is based on four criteria, namely health, education, social capital and housing. The research location was chosen purposively, with a sample of 100 people selected using the accidental sampling method. The results showed that the social resilience index of small-scale fisher households in Bengkulu City was 66.65% because the index >50% was included in the socially resilient category with 89 households with socially resilient status. The dimensions of housing and health showed good results, while social capital and education needed to be improved. Factors that significantly influence the social resilience of small-scale fisher households in Bengkulu City are formal education, fisher income, and participation in fisher institutions. Policy implications include improving access and quality of education through training and improved facilities, as well as strengthening social capital through gotong royong and public space management. These efforts are important to sustainably improve the social resilience of fishermen.

Abstract

Bengkulu City has abundant marine resources, leading in marine capture fisheries volume and value among districts. However, its fishermen remain impoverished due to overfishing, unpredictable weather, and illegal fishing by large vessels, which reduce small-scale fishermen's catches and welfare. This study aims to analyze the income exchange rate of small-scale fishermen's ladders in Bengkulu City and the factors that affect it. Respondents are 100 small-scale fishermen spread across Bengkulu City selected by accidental sampling. Data analyzed using quantitative methods and using SPSS. The results showed that the Income structure of small-scale fisherman households in Bengkulu City consists of income on a fishery by percentage as 80.30% and non fishery income amounting to 19.70% of total income, which is IDR 951,675/week. The consumption expenditure pattern of small-scale fishing households in Bengkulu City consists of expenditure for food by percentage as 51.41% while expenditure for non-food as much as 48.59% of total expenditure, which is IDR 962,230/week. The fishermen's household income exchange rate in Bengkulu is 0.98 < 1, indicating that they cannot fully meet their basic needs and remain relatively poor. The variables of age, fishing hours, catch variations, fishing experience and boat size had a significant effect on the fishermen's household income exchange rate in Bengkulu City. In contrast, the fisherman fisherman education variable did not have a considerable effect on the fishermen's household income exchange rate in Bengkulu City.

Abstract

West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) is the third-largest tobacco-producing province in Indonesia. However, the dynamics of tobacco production tend to decline, one of which is due to its productivity and land area, which also tends to stagnate. Technology is one of the levers of productivity and the efficiency and effectiveness of supply chain management. The objectives of this research are to assess the level of technology adoption, analyze the factors influencing farmers' decisions to adopt technology, and develop policy recommendations based on the findings. This research uses mixed methods, namely qualitative and quantitative. The qualitative approach uses an in-depth interview approach and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with farmers and stakeholders of the tobacco industry. The quantitative approach uses the Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method. The results showed that farmers who used tractors, ovens, tobacco pressing, power weeder, and combine harvester technology were 42%, 71%, 46%, 21%, and 2%, respectively. The results of PLS-SEM analysis showed that the variables of education and age had a positive and significant effect on the adoption of tobacco farmer technology. In contrast, the variables of length of farming and land area did not have a significant effect. The variables of land area, length of farming experience, and farmers' age do not significantly affect technology adoption. Based on the results of this study, several strategies to increase technology adoption for tobacco farmers are institutional strengthening to facilitate socialization and counseling related to technology, the establishment of financing schemes that are friendly to farmers, and the development of research and innovation related to appropriate technology to economic, social, cultural, and environmental aspects.
