Abstract

There is rising awareness regarding the need to incorporate the sustainability concept into business activities worldwide. However, there is rare research concerning implementing 3P's (people, planet, and profit) for Indonesian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), despite SMEs being business players contributing significantly to the Indonesian economy. This research study aims to fill the gap. Specifically, this research aims to analyze the impact of entrepreneurial orientation (EO) on the sustainability performance of Indonesian SMEs. Furthermore, we evaluate the mediating role of knowledge integration capability and sustainability attitude on the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and SME's sustainability performance. This study surveyed SMEs in Greater Jakarta to collect primary data, and interviewed SMEs who generated support from Indonesia's state-owned enterprises (SOE), such as Wijaya Karya, Jamkrindo, and the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs agency body. There were 123 respondents who took part in this research. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Lisrel 8.51 software was used to process the data. The findings suggested that entrepreneurial orientation improved knowledge integration capability, and that knowledge integration capability improved SME's sustainability performance. Meanwhile, we found that entrepreneurial orientation positively affects the SMEs' sustainability attitude, and that the sustainable attitude affects the SMEs' sustainability performance. However, there was insufficient evidence that entrepreneurial orientation directly impacted the sustainability performance of SMEs in Indonesia.

Abstract

Startup companies undergo many changes to deal with changing economic conditions and win the competition in the market. One of the factors that can increase company competitiveness is employability of the employee. This study combines organizational structural factors, namely the application of highly involved human resources and learning culture with employee factor namely social informal learning. The research aims to identify the factors that can enhance or hinder social informal learning and subsequently improve employee employability in startups. Purposive sampling technique was used to select the participants who met specific criteria relevant to the research objectives. Data from 290 employees of Indonesian startups analyzed using a structural equation model. The results showed that recognition, empowerment, competitive development, information sharing can enhance social informal learning and subsequently improve employee employability, while financial rewards can decrease social informal learning and employability. Companies that want to increase the practice of social informal learning can improve recognition practices, empowerment, competitive development, and information sharing.

Abstract

Conditions of uncertainty always occur in an organization due to changes, so adaptive performance is needed to face all these changes. Linked to previous research which examined the influence of high-performance work systems which can have an influence on organizational outcomes, one of which is adaptive performance. Apart from that, in dealing with change, emotional intelligence is needed in order to be able to think appropriately about one's emotions so that one can adapt to changes. Therefore, the aim of this research is to determine the influence of high-performance work systems and emotional intelligence on adaptive performance. Then in relation to the relationship between the three, work involvement plays a mediating role which is expected to strengthen or weaken the relationship between the three. The research sample of 239 people was then processed using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) techniques and Lisrel version 8.80 as the application used in processing the data. The results show that there is a significant positive direct influence between HPWS and adaptive performance and emotional intelligence and adaptive performance. In addition, work engagement can partially mediate the influence of HPWS and emotional intelligence on adaptive performance.

Abstract

Fraud continues to pose a significant challenge worldwide, particularly within both governmental and private-sector institutions. Whistleblowing is widely acknowledged as an effective mechanism for uncovering fraudulent activity; however, many employees refrain from speaking out due to concerns over potential retaliation. This research explores the determinants of whistleblowing intention among employees of Bank B, a state-owned financial institution in Indonesia, by applying the Theory of Planned Behavior which includes components such as attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control along with additional constructs: Perceived Organizational Support and Moral Norm. A quantitative approach was employed, surveying 244 staff members from the bank’s Head Office and Regional Offices. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling. The analysis revealed that attitude, perceived behavioral control, organizational support, and moral norms have a significant impact on whistleblowing intention, whereas subjective norms do not. Moreover, whistleblowing intention was found to be a strong predictor of actual whistleblowing behavior. These findings underscore the critical role of cultivating supportive organizational cultures and fostering moral values to promote ethical reporting practices in the banking industry.

Abstract

Employee creativity plays a pivotal role in enhancing organizational performance, serving as a key driver of innovation essential for sustaining competitiveness. In light of the decline in ESQ training participants over the past five years, strategic renewal is required to reignite interest, particularly by fostering employee creativity. This study examines the factors influencing employee creativity, focusing on transformational leadership, organizational culture, and organizational learning. Using a quantitative approach, data from 152 ESQ employees were analyzed with SEM LISREL 8.80. The results indicate that transformational leadership positively influences employee creativity through the mediating effects of the organizational culture dimensions attention to detail and teamwork/respect for people, while the dimensions of innovation and outcome orientation show no mediating impact. Additionally, organizational learning is found to positively mediate the relationship between transformational leadership and employee creativity.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to determine the effect of overall quality and self-efficacy on the flow and satisfaction of distance learning learners in the post-pandemic period in public sector organizations. Research data were collected through an online survey of distance learning participants in public sector organizations. A total of 701 data were analyzed. The data analysis method used was CB-SEM using Lisrel 8.80. This study found that system quality, information quality, and flow significantly and positively affected the satisfaction of distance learning participants. Self-efficacy, information quality, and service quality also have a positive and significant effect on the satisfaction of distance learning participants through the mediation of flow. Many previous studies have explored the effect of overall quality on online learning satisfaction in school or universities. However, this study is different in that it focuses on the context of public sector organizations by adding self-efficacy variables as internal factors of learners and including flow variables as mediators, considering that learners and instructors are not in the same location during distance learning. According to the findings from the conducted research, this study recommends that education and training organizers in the public sector can pay attention to factors that affect learner satisfaction in distance learning which include self-efficacy, overall learning quality, and flow in learning.

Abstract

Objective: This research investigates the impact of high-performance human resource practices (HPHRPs) on employees' innovative behavior (EIB) both directly and through the mediating effects of work engagement (WE) and psychological capital (PsyCap) in a state-owned electricity company. Design/Methods/Approach: The data was gathered by conducting a survey questionnaire among 722 employees who work in an electricity company. The collected data was then validated through confirmatory factor analysis. The data was analyzed using the covariance-based Structural Equation Modeling (CB-SEM) technique to test the hypotheses. Findings: The findings indicate that HPHRP has a positive impact on Employee Innovative Behaviour (EIB), both directly and indirectly, through the mediation of Work Engagement (WE) and Psychological Capital (PsyCap) in a state-owned electricity company. Originality/Value: This paper is unique as it provides empirical evidence on how high-performance human resource practices impact employees' innovative behavior directly and with the mediation of work engagement and psychological capital. Practical/Policy implication: HR Managers should focus on employee participation and communication to increase employee work engagement and psychological capital, which will impact innovative behavior among employees. Researchers are encouraged to study employee and organizational performance measures other than Work Engagement and Psychological Capital influenced by high-performance work practices.

Abstract

Frontline workers are one of the jobs affected due to Covid-19. Covid-19 events can have negative and positive consequences for frontline workers. This study aims to see how fear of covid affects employee emotional exhaustion during a pandemic. Based on the conservation of resources theory, fear of covid-19 can cause frontline workers to experience emotional exhaustion. In addition, during a pandemic, employees can feel high job insecurity, resulting in low work engagement in the company where employees work. The method used in this research is quantitative. Data analysis was performed on 259 company employees who worked as frontline workers using the Structural Equation Modeling technique. The results of the analysis show that fear of covid-19 has a positive effect on job insecurity, and job insecurity has a significant positive effect on emotional exhaustion. In addition, perceived employability has a positive and significant effect on job insecurity and a significant positive effect on work engagement. It is essential for companies to pay attention so that employees do not have high job insecurity and high emotional exhaustion and can create employee work engagement by conducting various kinds of training and health education to increase engagement and reduce employee fear of Covid.
