Abstract

Islamic education, which should be able to answer the challenges of the times because it has multidimensional (profane and intrinsic), in reality, is not able to display its self-image firmly. At the same time, Islamic education is needed to ensure the survival and existence of Islamic society. The purpose of this study is to reveal one side of Fazlurrahman's thoughts on Islamic education because Fazlurrahman, one of the Islamic reformers, tries to find solutions so that Islamic education is more advanced and can answer the challenges of the times. This type of research is library research, and the data source is primary and secondary data. The analytical methods used are inductive, deductive and comparative. The research approach used is qualitative. The results of this study indicate that the background of his intellectual experience influences Fazlurrahman's thoughts. He believes that many things must be reconstructed and reformed in the world of Islamic education, including the goals and the education system. The purpose of Islamic education, which has been defensive-oriented to the hereafter, must be changed to be oriented to the world and the future. In addition, Muslims must take knowledge from the modern West. Fazlurrahman's thoughts are still very relevant today.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to identify and examine historical facts pertaining to the sacred grave site in East Muaro Panco Village, Renah Pembarap District, Merangin Jambi. The local community believes that the tomb belongs to the great and sacred scholar Syekh Maulana Qori, who is said to have travelled from Baghdad to spread Islam in Jambi. However, this narrative is largely based on oral tradition and lacks corroboration from historical sources. The researchers employed a qualitative research approach with a case history methodology in order to address the aforementioned concern. Data was gathered through interviews with informants, including community leaders, religious leaders, and Kyai, both within and outside the area, who were deemed to possess knowledge of the tomb’s history. Subsequently, researchers conducted direct observations at the tomb and utilized documentation pertaining to the history of Syekh Maulana Qori. The results of the researchers’ search yielded a history of the tomb in Muaro Panco, which revealed that it was the final resting place of Syekh Maulana Qori, a prominent scholar from Baghdad (Iraq) who was related to Syekh Al-fairus Al-Baghdadi. Syekh Maulana Qori is regarded as one of the most influential Islamic scholars in Muaro Panco’s history. His grave remains a pilgrimage site, both locally and from beyond the region, including from outside Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to examine sholawat song content as a medium for delivering dakwah messages to public officials in order to build ethical awareness in the digital era. In today’s digital age, sholawat songs have spread widely across various digital platforms, including YouTube, TikTok, and others. This indicates that the medium of dakwah delivery has transformed within society from the traditional approach of sermons to more artistic methods, one of which is sholawat music that embeds religious messages within it. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach. This is based on the research objective, which requires analyses aligned with qualitative methods. Data collection in this study involved reviewing journals, books, regulations, and other sources relevant to the topic, ensuring strong analytical foundations. Data analysis was conducted by examining each data source and assessing its relevance to the study, allowing the results to be objective, valid, and accountable. The results indicate that sholawat song content can serve as a medium for conveying dakwah messages to public officials in order to develop ethical awareness in the digital era. Sholawat songs contain artistic elements that invite listeners to enjoy and absorb the messages within them. Furthermore, the use of art has historically become a form of knowledge continuously studied during the golden age of Islam. During the early spread of Islam in the Nusantara, Islamic teachings were conveyed through musical arts, enabling dakwah to spread beautifully among the community. Abstract

Globalization has intensified the cross-border circulation of Islamic ideas, organizations, and political identities, creating both opportunities for cooperation and risks of polarization. This study examines how Gus Yahya reframes transnational political Islam through humanitarian diplomacy, Islam Nusantara, and Indonesia’s religious soft power. Using a qualitative interpretive design, the study applies Faircloughian critical discourse analysis to Gus Yahya’s speeches, writings, interviews, public statements, and institutional initiatives, including Religion 20 and Humanitarian Islam. The analysis identifies a consistent shift from ideological competition and the pursuit of political authority toward humanitarian ethics, plural citizenship, and peaceful coexistence. This reframing is organized through recurring concepts such as insaniyyah, ta‘awun, rahmah, justice, moderation, and rahmatan lil-‘alamin, which present Islam as a moral force for guiding political life without legitimizing domination. Islam Nusantara functions as the principal theological and cultural foundation of this strategy by connecting Islamic tradition with nationalism, local culture, pluralism, and global responsibility. Religion 20, interfaith partnerships, and Nahdlatul Ulama’s international networks also position religious diplomacy as networked soft power that expands representation, access, and narrative circulation. However, the findings do not establish measurable policy change or shifts in public attitudes, and the strategy remains constrained by elite-centered representation, contested meanings of moderation, institutional dependence, and the moderate–radical binary. The study contributes to scholarship on political Islam and religious diplomacy by showing how locally rooted Islamic discourse can generate a Global South model of humanitarian engagement while requiring careful distinction between symbolic influence and demonstrated diplomatic effectiveness.
