Abstract

Abstract

Islamic architecture as a foundation in building Muslim worship facilities in the form of mosques has developed its meaning along with advances in science and technology. One of the concepts in designing a mosque is to ensure that the congregation can close the rows of rows. Based on the verses of the Qur'an regarding the priority of rows in congregational prayers, effort (rashshus shufūf) in congregational prayers is something that is ordered in the Qur'an and hadith. It thenmanifested in the Islamic architectural design of the Klangenan Insan Mulia Boarding School Mosque in the form of providing a center column so that the prayer halls are not interrupted due to the presence of middle columns. As a consequence of the design, the structure of the mosque required several adjustments which were well planned and efficient. This research was conducted using a qualitative method with descriptive analysis supported by modeling simulation and load strength analysis using ETAB V. 16 software, so that the results obtained in the form of structural calculations for steel rafter roof construction using the bridge structure model. The steel rafter roof construction with the bridge structure model was chosen due to several factors including: strength, practicality, and design flexibility.

Abstract

Interest in the application of biodegradable bone screw is driven by the increasing knowledge on biomedical materials and tissue engineering field. Currently, various polymeric- as well as metallic-based materials have been used as degradable bone screw. Biodegradable material is a desirable feature for bone screw since the goal is that it uses as a temporary structure holding a growing bone tissues until the bone fracture has sufficiently healed. Among others, magnesium and its alloys have a potential chance to serve as biodegradable bone screw applications, as it has mechanical properties similar to natural bone, lightweight, and biocompatible approved. This article aims to report current development and future potential use of magnesium-based metal for bone screw application. Techniques on manufacturing process, mechanical performance, and biocompatibility assessment of magnesium and its alloys are highlighted.

Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this community service program in Desa Pesawaran Indah is to enhance public understanding and participation in sustainable waste management by introducing the 7R principles: Rethink, Refuse, Reduce, Repurpose, Reuse, Recycle, and Rot. Methodology: The program utilized a structured socialization approach, which included developing educational materials and conducting interactive discussions with village officials and members of the Women’s Farmers Group (KWT). Each 7R principle was introduced, practical applications were explored, and local waste management challenges were addressed. Results: The program resulted in a substantial increase in participants' understanding, with comprehension levels rising from an initial 2-4 participants to 18-21 participants who fully understood key principles like "Rethink" and "Recycle" by the program's conclusion. Conclusions: The program successfully enhanced community knowledge and engagement in sustainable waste management. Future initiatives could benefit from practical training to reinforce knowledge and empower participants to implement waste management strategies, contributing to the development of environmentally conscious communities aligned with broader sustainability goals. Limitations: The limitations of the study include the absence of practical demonstrations and the limited sample size, which may affect the generalizability of the findings. Contribution: This program contributes to the field of environmental education by promoting sustainable waste management practices within rural communities and aligning local actions with global sustainability goals.
