Abstract

The relentless development of research in various fields of science, including psychology, has the potential to cause redundancy and reduce relevance. To overcome this, the discourse and efforts of Trend Research and Research Registries were developed. The integration of Trend Research and Research Registry is expected to be implemented and utilized by researchers in the field of science, to not only maintain the quality of research conducted, but to further improve the quality so that it can be more meaningful.

Abstract

One way of making scholarships sustainable is to continue the “chain of kindness.” However, relatively few studies have examined the psychological predictors involved in making a scholarship recipient feel that “pay it forward” is under their control. This study aimed to determine the predictions of four types of narcissism on Perceived Behavioral Control (PBC) in continuing scholarship. The instruments used comprised psychological scales measuring PBC, which were constructed by the authors, and some types of narcissism, i.e. the Communal Narcissism Inventory (CNI), Brief-Pathological Narcissism Inventory (B-PNI), and the Narcissistic Personality Inventory-16 (NPI). Data were obtained by convenience sampling from 212 Indonesian scholarship recipients and analyzed with multiple linear regression (predictive correlational design). The results showed that the regression model had statistical significance (F(4, 211)= 15.452, p = .000, R2 = 23%). A notable result was that communal narcissism predicted PBC in a positive direction. Narcissism often has negative connotations; however, the results contribute by showing that there is also a “bright side” of narcissism.

Abstract

As a rapidly growing metropolis, Jakarta faces challenges in delivering sustainable public services through digital citizen engagement. This study evaluates Jakarta’s smart city initiatives via the JAKI (Jakarta Kini) platform and employs mixed-methods triangulation of descriptive analysis from six stakeholder interviews and 523,321 citizen reports (2021–2024). Findings reveal a 98.73% report completion rate, yet stark regional disparities persist, 27.91% engagement in South Jakarta vs. 0.03% in Kepulauan Seribu, highlighting failures in digital inclusion under Governor Regulation No. 82/2021. The analysis integrates Arnstein’s participation ladder, Norman’s human-centered design, and Wiener’s feedback loops, exposing tokenistic consultation (Level 3) over co-creation. Structural gaps include fragmented system integration (Presidential Regulation No. 95/2018) and trust deficits despite procedural efficiency. The framework proposes hybrid channels (including SMS and face-to-face), participatory roadmaps, and revisions to Governor Regulation No. 68/2022 to prioritize equitable access and iterative feedback. By aligning policy with the human centric concept, Jakarta can transition from City 3.0 (user-centered) to City 4.0 (co-creation), balancing technological efficiency with inclusive governance.

Abstract

This editorial invites Psychology practitioners, scientists, and researchers to re-embrace case reports as a legitimate and meaningful scientific medium for bridging professional practice and conceptual development. Case reports possess the power to capture the complexity of human experience in a contextual and reflective manner—a characteristic that is increasingly relevant amidst limited time, resources, and the demands of real-world practice. Through historical and interdisciplinary review, this editorial emphasizes that case reports are not a marginal form of writing, but rather a scholarly contribution capable of enriching theory, practice, and academic dialogue. Based on this, ANIMA Indonesian Psychological Journal is opening a case report submission category with editorial and peer-review standards equivalent to those for other articles. This initiative aims to provide an inclusive space for authors from various backgrounds and career stages—both novice and experienced—to reflect on Psychology practice ethically, contextually, and with quality.
