Abstract

Klothek Lesung is a traditional art form of musical entertainment passed down by ancestors from ancient times. It is performed by 4–6 players using pestles (alu) and mortars (lesung) as instruments to produce rhythmic sounds, along with 1–2 singers. This research aims to understand, analyze, and describe the process of musical regeneration of the lesung art form in Blimbing Hamlet, Sambongrejo Village, Sambong District, Blora Regency. The qualitative method emphasizes a socially constructed reality between the researcher and the subjects, resulting in shared social experiences and meaningful insights. An ethnographic approach, one of the approaches in qualitative research, is used by the researcher. The results show that the regeneration process of klothek lesung in Blimbing Hamlet, Sambongrejo Village, Sambong District, Blora Regency, occurs naturally through generations within families, involving their children and grandchildren. The songs taught to accompany the klothek lesung performance include “Lumbung Desa,” “Lesung Jumengglung,” and “Prau Layar.” These three songs are commonly performed to welcome guests visiting Blimbing Hamlet.

Abstract

The Musicality Assessment Test is a notation-based examination covering three concepts: ear training, listening, and reading. Due to the incorporation of these three conceptual domains, the musicality test can only be effectively conducted when the test questions are presented in audio format. The aim of this study was to innovate the testing process as a means of assessing music learning outcomes through an audio-based format. This study employed qualitative descriptive method, and utilized Sibelius and Cubase software as technological tools. The design phase began with the preparation of the structured test instrument, followed by the recording process using Sibelius software. This involved recording questions related to rhythmic, pitch, interval, melodic, scale, and harmonic notation, which were then transformed into MIDI format. Cubase software was employed for combining human voice with MIDI in the recording process. The testing instrument was meticulously crafted as an innovative product, ready for trial to measure the musicality abilities of test takers. The test tool was designed as an innovative product, poised for use in assessing the musicality skills of test takers.

Abstract

Since 2022, the Merdeka Curriculum has incorporated literacy and numeracy into arts and culture education. However, a major challenge faced by arts and culture teachers is that not all of them fully understand or have mastered how to integrate literacy and numeracy into their teaching, particularly in the development of existing teaching modules. The purpose of this community service initiative is to provide mentoring in developing teaching modules that integrate literacy and numeracy into the subjects of music, dance, and visual arts for the Arts and Culture Teachers’ Working Group (MGMP). The method used in this program involved several stages: beginning with the dissemination and introduction of key concepts, followed by practical assistance in developing literacy- and numeracy-based teaching modules, and concluding with simulations to support the practical implementation of learning. The results of this initiative show that the development of literacy and numeracy skills can be facilitated through theoretical and practical learning materials, differentiated and contextual methods, educational field trips, various learning media and tools (both digital and conventional), as well as through the use of effective teaching models, strategies, and assessment techniques. The benefits of this program include improved teacher understanding of literacy and numeracy, enhanced teacher competence in module development, increased creativity in delivering learning materials, the establishment of collaborative and professional learning environments, and the successful creation of arts and culture teaching modules that incorporate literacy and numeracy. Based on these outcomes, it can be concluded that the development of integrated literacy and numeracy teaching modules for music, dance, and visual arts subjects in the MGMP for arts and culture has provided significant and valuable benefits.

The phenomenon observed at SMP Negeri 3 Ungaran indicates that music education faces challenges in maintaining students' interest and active engagement, particularly with the changes in learning styles and the integration of technology. The role of the teacher as a facilitator capable of creating an engaging and interactive learning environment is crucial in fostering students' exploration and deep understanding of music education content. This study examines the role of teachers and the implementation of interactive learning methods in music education at SMP Negeri 3 Ungaran, as well as the challenges related to changes in learning styles and the integration of technology. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through participatory observation, structured interviews with teachers, students, and the school principal, as well as documentation. Triangulation techniques were used to ensure data validity, which was then analyzed through stages of data collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study at SMP Negeri 3 Ungaran show that the role of teachers in building motivation for learning music is essential, particularly through the use of interactive learning methods. The application of methods such as group discussions, collaborative projects, and the use of digital media successfully increased students' motivation, engagement, and self-confidence.
