Abstract

Academic life serves as a process for students to develop their abilities; however, in reality, not all students can optimize their potential. This is often related to internal factors such as emotions, feelings, and perceptions. This study aims to examine the influence of impostor syndrome tendencies and academic hardiness on academic anxiety. The research method employed is quantitative. The subjects of this study were 205 students from Mulawarman University in Samarinda, selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using scales measuring academic anxiety, impostor syndrome, and academic hardiness. The data analysis technique used was multiple linear regression, with data analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 26.0 for Windows. The results of the study indicate that (1) there is a significant influence of impostor syndrome and academic resilience on academic anxiety, with an F-value of 43.279 > F-table of 3.23 and p = 0.000 < 0.05, contributing 30% of the variance; (2) there is a significant positive influence of impostor syndrome on academic anxiety, with a beta coefficient (β) = 0.459, t-value = 7.186, and p = 0.000 (p < 0.05); and (3) there is a significant negative influence of academic hardiness on academic anxiety, with a beta coefficient (β) = -0.171, t-value = -2.676, and p = 0.008 (p < 0.05).a coefficient beta (β) value of 0.363, t value = 2.407, and p = 0.021 (p < 0.05); (3) there is a significant negative influence of academic hardiness on academic anxiety with a coefficient beta (β) value of -0.472, t value = -3.127, and p = 0.003 (p < 0.05). The study finds that impostor syndrome and academic hardiness significantly influence academic anxiety, with impostor syndrome showing a positive impact and academic hardiness showing a negative impact.

Abstract

Stress management is an important skill that educators need to possess to plan and implement the learning process, assess learning outcomes, provide guidance and training, as well as engage in research and community service. The purpose of this training is to enhance stress management skills to improve the teaching process of educators. The training was conducted for teachers at SMA Negeri 16 Kota Samarinda and was attended by 13 participants. The methods used in this training include Training Need Analysis (TNA), training modules, material delivery, discussions, mindfulness, and pre-test and post-test evaluations. The results of this training show an improvement in understanding stress management. This improvement was obtained from data collected through pre-tests and post-tests, revealing an increase of 17%.

Abstract

Good communication skills within an organization are key to success in achieving goals. One factor that can influence the smoothness of communication within an organization is assertive communication. This study aims to evaluate the impact of assertive communication training on the effectiveness of the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PMII) branch in Kutai Kartanegara. The research employs the experimental learning method, which includes Training Need Analysis (TNA), module development, implementation using experiential learning, and evaluation. The assessment is conducted to measure participants' cognitive improvements and their reactions to the training. Assertive communication training for effective organizational communication was conducted for 34 participants in the PMII branch in Kutai Kartanegara. The results indicate cognitive improvement from pre-test to post-test, although statistical significance was not observed with a significance level of (2-tailed) = 0.714 > 0.05. Nevertheless, participants' reactions to the training suggest positive outcomes. The facilitator evaluation graph and training implementation also highlight the positive impact of assertive communication within the organization.

Abstract

Drug abuse has become a serious issue in Sindang Sari Village, Samarinda, due to the lack of understanding about the dangers of drugs. The aim of this community service by the researchers is to enhance the knowledge of the KB Village (Quality Family) cadres on drug prevention and the crucial role of parents in shaping resilient children. The counseling method was carried out by students of Psychology and Social and Political Sciences to 13 members of the PKK, and the evaluation was conducted through pre-tests and post-tests. The results showed a significant increase in the knowledge of the KB Village cadres after the counseling (mean pre-test: 4.83, mean post-test: 6.92). It was concluded that there was an increase in understanding and knowledge regarding drug-free parenting among PKK members.. This research highlights the family as a primary stronghold in preventing drug abuse. Proper parenting practices can help children avoid misuse of substance. Therefore, it is crucial to strengthen the role of families in drug prevention efforts.Penyalahgunaan narkoba menjadi permasalahan serius di Kelurahan Sindang Sari, Samarinda, dengan minimnya pemahaman tentang bahayanya narkoba. Tujuan pengabdian dari peneliti untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan anggota kampung KB (keluarga Berkualitas) tentang pencegahan narkoba dan peran penting orang tua dalam membentuk anak yang tangguh. Metode Penyuluhan dilakukan oleh mahasiswa Psikologi Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik kepada 13 anggota PKK dan evaluasi dilakukan melalui pre-test dan post-test. Hasil terjadi peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan anggota kampung KB setelah penyuluhan (mean pre-test: 4.83, mean post-test: 6.92). Disimpulkan bahwa meningkatnya pemahaman dan pengetahuan mengenai pola asuh yang bebas narkoba pada anggota PKK. Implikasi dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa keluarga merupakan benteng utama dalam pencegahan narkoba. Pola asuh yang tepat dari orang tua dapat membantu anak-anak terhindar dari penyalahgunaan narkoba. Oleh karena itu, penting untuk meningkatkan peran keluarga dalam upaya pencegahan narkoba.
