Abstract

Shrimp is one of the leading commodities with high economic value and generates foreign exchange in local and international markets. The production of shrimp farming industry in ponds fluctuates, causing doubts for investors and practitioners to develop shrimp farming in ponds. The weakness is that there is no available data on the evaluation of aquaculture performance as a good shrimp farming planning material. The purpose of this study was to assess the performance of shrimp farming industry in intensive pond system. The research was conducted from September 2023 to February 2024. The research location was Rhee Royal Vannamei Sumbawa West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. This research is applied research with data collection methods are observation and quantitative.  Data processing using Microsoft excel and SPSS (Statistical Program for Social Science). The results showed that the land is suitable for vaname shrimp farming, performance analysis showed Average daily growth (ADG) 0.4 gr/day, Average body weight (ABW) 13.86+5.59 g/head, Survival Rate (SR) 55+25%, Food Conversation Ratio (FCR) 1-1.5, and Productivity 11+5 tonnes/ha. The relationship between stocking density and shrimp productivity was not significant. Five cycles of production fluctuate, so it is not possible to determine predictions for the coming year. The prospect of shrimp farming industry in ponds is good enough to improve the economy.

Abstract

Abstract

Shrimp is a fishery commodity that has high economic value and is an upstream-to-downstream industry. The current problem is the hesitation of farmers and shrimp farming entrepreneurs to develop shrimp farming in ponds. The purpose of this study was to compare the production and financial aspects of Pacific White Shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) cultivation in the intensive pond system industry in Indonesia. The data collection method is a field survey. The data analysis method is descriptive and quantitative. Data processing tools used Microsoft Excel and SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solutions).   The research locations are the shrimp farming industry AM Bangka, SUN Bengkalis, AN Probolinggo, MCS Yogjakarta, and UK Pandeglang. The results showed that the productivity of 18,540-38,498 kg. Ha-1 per cycle, survival rate (SR) 68 -99%, and feed conversion ratio (FCR) 1.05-1.98. Financial analysis R/C ratio 1.04-1.78, and payback period 1 year 28 days - 2 years 9 months. The cost of goods sold per kg of shrimp was US $0.87 to US $3.82.  The prospect of intensive Vaname shrimp farming industry in Indonesia has a good prospect by doing efficiency and effectiveness of production costs.

Abstract

The production efficiency of striped catfish Pangasianodon hypophthalmus is very dependent on the quality of feed, which can increase the fish’s growth rate and health condition. Thus, the aimed of this study was to investigate the effects of different levels of Oregano Essential Oil (OEO) contained with thymol and carvacrol, at the concentration level of 0.1, 0.2, and 0.4% OEO, which is applied using top-dressing method and included in feed formulation on the growth rate, body composition, digestive health and resistance of striped catfish P. hypophthalmus against the pathogenic bacteria Aeromonas hydrophila. The results of growth trials using top-dressing method for 122 days using formulated feed method for 70 days showed that the application of OEO yielded better growth than the control, with 0.2% OEO providing better growth performance than 0.1 and 0.4% OEO. The body composition analysis results also showed a better level of nutrient absorption in fish fed the OEO-based diet compared to the control. For the number of bacteria in the digestive tract, OEO supplementation can also significantly reduce the number of bacteria compared to fish-fed control feed. The challenge test results after the fish were given treatment feed for 24 days showed that the application of 0.1% OEO provided better protection against Aeromonas hydrophila. However, there was no significant difference with 0.2% OEO. The application of 0.2% OEO can be recommended to increase the efficiency and productivity of catfish cultivation.
