Abstract

Ethnomathematics can serve as a bridge between school mathematics learning and everyday culture. Mathematical concepts found in cultural artifacts can be used as learning resources, allowing students to gain two or more types of knowledge simultaneously, at least in terms of culture and mathematics. Cianjur Regency is famous for Pandanwangi rice, known for its distinct fragrance. The uniqueness of Pandanwangi rice is expressed in batik. This study aims to explore the ethnomathematics present in Pandanwangi Batik, which can be utilized as a learning resource for teaching mathematical concepts. A qualitative research approach with an ethnographic method was employed to explore the mathematical concepts embedded in Pandanwangi Batik. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with traditional confectionery makers, and documentation of the production process. The study used a human instrument, where the researcher directly acted as the data collector by interacting with the research environment. Data collection techniques included observing the activities of batik-making, conducting interviews to understand cultural and mathematical aspects, and documenting patterns and processes involved. The research findings indicate that Pandanwangi Batik contains various ethnomathematical concepts, including proportions (e.g., proportionality, equivalent ratios, inverse ratios), number patterns, geometry, geometric transformations (translation, reflection, rotation), and social arithmetic. These mathematical concepts are derived from the production process, crafting techniques, patterns, and sales outcomes of the batik.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and mathematical critical thinking skills with online game addiction as a control variable. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey design. This research is research using the partial correlation method. The population in this study were students of SMA Negeri 1 Cianjur. The subjects of this study were students of class XII IPS SMA Negeri 1 Cianjur in the 2022/2023 academic year who demonstrated tendencies of online gaming addiction. The sample in this study was 32 students of class XII-IPS SMA Negeri 1 Cianjur. The sampling technique was carried out by purposive sampling. The research instrument used was a test instrument to measure mathematical critical thinking skills and a questionnaire used to measure emotional intelligence and online game addiction. The data analysis technique used is a statistical test, namely a partial correlation test using the Smart-PLS application. A partial correlation analysis was conducted using Kendall’s Tau coefficient. That is, there is no relationship between emotional intelligence and students' mathematical critical thinking skills with online game addiction as a control variable. The findings of this study imply that emotional intelligence and online gaming tendencies are significant variables that should be taken into account by educators, institutions, and researchers in efforts to enhance students’ mathematical critical thinking ability and to inform subsequent scholarly inquiry.

Abstract

Various ways need to be done, one of which is by making learning videos. The purpose of this activity is to provide insight and knowledge about learning models as well as media learning resources during the pandemic, introduce and accompany the Google Quiz Application-Based Online Module/LKS to mathematics teachers at SMA Negeri 1 Pacet Cianjur, and help improve the quality and professionalism of mathematics teachers in teaching according to the pandemic. The implementation method used is a social approach. The activity was held on April 4-30 2021 at SMAN 1 Pacet Cianjur. Dissemination and Workshop on online modules/LKS based on the Google Quiz application. A total of 9 lecturers and 5 students were involved in this activity. Implementation activities are carried out in 3 stages including preparation, implementation, evaluation, and reporting. As a result, based on the validation of experts and practitioners, it can be concluded that 71.4% of the modules/LKS are suitable for use in the field, out of 10 students who have tried the online modules/LKS the responses are mostly good/easy in online modules/LKS for learning, and 6 students respond positively that this module can encourage student learning independence.
