Abstract

In developing a sustainable Social Forestry system in Indonesia, it is necessary to strengthen institutional and appropriate administrative management. This research aims to identify the characteristics of the institutional aspects of the Social Forestry Forest Utilization Permits (SFFUP) scheme in Mount Rakutak protection forest area. This research was conducted using criteria and indicator assessment methods that refer to sustainable social forestry institutional management. Data collection was carried out using a closed interview method with SFFUP participants. The results of research on institutional characteristics show that the policy implementation aspect is in the good category, the leadership aspect is in the good category, the institutional management aspect is in the bad category, the group transparency aspect is in the bad category, the aspect of trust towards stakeholders is in the good category, the conflict management aspect is in the fair category and the member development aspect is in the bad category. The results of the overall assessment of institutional aspects show that the implementation of the SFFUP scheme has not paid attention to sustainable governance of institutional aspects. To realize the successful implementation of SFFUP scheme, it is necessary to strengthen institutional aspects based on the 7 criteria and 30 indicators that have been found in this research.

Abstract

Community-based forest management or social forestry approach has been implemented to increase community involvement in forestry development. Community capacity to collaborate is needed to realize sustainable community-based forest management. The object of research is to determine the community capacity characteristics and the factors that influence community capacity in developing forest management cooperation. The method of research by survey methods with purposive sampling was 60 respondents. The community capacity characteristics were analyzed using the factor analysis method. The research results found that the community capacity characteristics can be grouped into 2 (two), namely: individual level and group or community level. The individual level is described by 16 variables. The new knowledge about the level of grouping which describes the existence of levels or ladders of community capacity characteristics starting from the lowest variable is sense of community to the highest variable, namely social capital. The results of statistical tests on the community capacity characteristics show that the level of community capacity in collaborating is low category. The results of this research confirm one of the community capacity characteristic variables that has a strong influence namely social capital. Therefore, cooperative behavior in managing MGPF needs to be increased by developing community capacity through strengthening social capital.   Keywords: community capacity, cooperation, community-based forest management.

Abstract

Organic waste management is crucial for sustainable climate change adaptation and mitigation. It supports a circular economy by recycling and repurposing waste, considering the entire product life cycle. This includes initiatives to recycle and repurpose organic waste as valuable resources, promoting a circular economy approach. The aim of the current study is to determine the best strategy for managing organic waste that can support a sustainable circular economy. SWOT analysis is a strategic planning tool based on strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The QSPM assesses the attractiveness of alternative strategies for managing organic waste, evaluating external and internal factors that influence the organization. Further research is needed to promote sustainable circular economy principles. This research used the SWOT and QSPM Model to determine the best strategy for managing organic waste that can support a sustainable circular economy. The process involves analyzing internal and external factors of an organization, using the SWOT matrix to identify alternative strategies for programs or activities, and then using QSPM analysis to determine the sequence of these strategies and determine the best to lowest-value strategy outcomes, ensuring data input and decision-making. This study has been carried out in Garut, West Java, Indonesia in 2023. The study analyzes the progress of organic waste processing in Garut Regency using the SWOT-QSPM approach. The results provide insights into the organic waste management strategy for a sustainable circular economy, highlighting the importance of recycling organic waste into new products and supporting society's economy. The circular economy principle can be applied to the processing of organic waste by using BSF, a biological agent that can produce livestock feed and plant fertilizer, reducing the amount of organic waste sent to landfills. The strategies discovered can guide community programs, empowering those without fixed incomes to manage waste. The cultivation of BSF can be integrated with the farm, aiming to reduce poverty and unemployment rates, convert unused land into a community-managed waste management center, aiming to enhance production and income, educate and support the well-being of the community. The best practices for handling organic waste in Garut Regency to promote a sustainable circular economy have been determined by the SWOT-QSPM model. The chosen strategy prioritized 3 main aspects out of 7 alternative strategies : (1) Recruiting society members to manage organic waste processing centers as a routine activity and additional income through processing and cultivation programs; (2) Increasing productivity and scaling up the processing of organic waste to obtain diverse products with higher economic value; (3) Providing direct training and education on organic waste processing to the society to demonstrate the economic value that processed organic waste can generate.

Abstract

The State Civil Apparatus (ASN) is a government employee who has a very important role in the implementation of local and regional development. The State Civil Apparatus (ASN) in charge of the Sidoarjo Regency Transportation Service carries out services and maintains an excellent work ethic, as well as the totality of performance so as to provide benefits to the community. The purpose of this research is to describe and analyze the quality of the performance of the State Civil Apparatus at the Transportation Service of Sidoarjo Regency. This study focuses on a performance theory proposed by Mitchell with performance indicators, namely the quality of work. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with data obtained and collected using observation, documentation, interviews and using books, journals and policy documents as sources. The results of this study are the quality of the performance of the State Civil Apparatus at the Transportation Service of Sidoarjo Regency which has shown good work results in accordance with the rules and tasks given. The existence of providing welfare for the apparatus in the form of rewards for employees whose performance has a positive impact on work motivation. The level of awareness of responsibility in carrying out the duties of each State Civil Apparatus is already high, either with direct or indirect supervision by the leadership.

Abstract

Bandung Regency has several types of cultivated taro, with the largest production center in the Sumedang District. Semir Taro (TS0) is one of the native commodities in this region, and the other types are from the crossbreeding process between Semir Taro and Thai Silk Taro, which is named Pratama Taro (TS1 & TS2). Although it has been widely marketed and consumed by the public, the nutrient content value of this type of taro is still unknown. In addition, TS1 and TS2 have the potential to be developed into products that have higher economic value if processed optimally. This study contributes to determining the nutritious content of three taro varieties and identifies the most appropriate raw materials for the production of taro-derived products. The methods used were chemical analysis and affective organoleptic tests with paired comparison. Organoleptic tests were carried out on TS1 and TS2, and they were steamed to determine whether there was a difference between the two taros. The results of the test showed that there was no difference in the colour, aroma, and texture parameters of the two taros, but there was a difference in taste between them. While the results of the chemical analysis show that the three types of taros have a reasonably good nutrient content, because the water content is relatively high, there need to be post-harvest management efforts so that taro can be a more durable product for storage.
