Abstract

The modern era has very minimal information about juvenile cosmetics that involve risks associated with hazardous or illegal products. The choice and application of cosmetics has not been taught to SMK Muhammadiyah 8 Medan students. The explanation should help students understand how important it is to select safe care products for young children to utilize. The topics covered in the discussion included a variety of cosmetic chemicals, the significance of understanding how hydroquinon affects cosmetics and goods, and tips for selecting skincare products according to skin type. The results of Volunteers found that most teenagers had oily skin (38.09%), with some experiencing skin problems (79.37%). Acne is the most common problem (42.68%), and 79.37% have used face care. After receiving the material, participants scored 88.57, indicating their knowledge. The examination was declared successful because the participants understood the material.

Abstract

The pala leaves contain alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and steroids which high antiseptic and antibacterial effects. The goal of the research make a formulation of hand sanitizer gel with etanol extreact by pala leaves (Myristica fragrans Houtt) as the antibacterial againt the Staphylococcus epidermidis and Streptococcus sp bacteria with CMC-Na base. Pala leaves hand sanitizer gel with etanol extract was formulation I 5%, formulation II 10%, and formulation III 15%. The method used in this study was antibacterial testing method used is the disc diffusion technique. Hand sanitizer gel is tested for the physical properties including organoleptic test, pH test, homogeneity test, and spreadability test. Hand sanitizer gel which has antibacterial activity against the Staphylococcus epidermidis and Streptococcus sp, bacteria is second (III) formulation in with concentration 15% that has an inhibition zone of 17 mm on bacteria Staphylococcus epidermidis and 16,86 mm on bacteria Streptococcus sp, mean while in formulation II with concentration 10% that has an inhibition zone of 13,16 mm on bacteria Staphylococcus epidermidis ang 13,16 on bacteria Streptococcus sp, mean while in formulation I with concentration 5% that has an inhibition zone of 12,02 mm on bacteria Staphylococcus epidermidis and 12,16 mm on bacteria Streptococcus sp, and the last positive control (nuvo gel hand sanitizer) that has an inhibition 17,73 mm on bacteria Stahylococcus epidermidis and 17,69 mm on bacteria Streptococcus sp. The final results of the research indicate, there is an ability of hand sanitizer gel pala leaves (Myristica fragrans Houtt) extract to prevent the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis and Streptococcus sp bacteria with concentration of 15% hand sanitizer gel preparation.

Abstract

Abstract

An infectious disease is a disease with the highest prevalence in the world, with a great risk of transmission. Staphylococcus aureus is a pathogen that can cause several infectious diseases. The use of kemangi leaves as vegetables can be used as an invention in treating infections caused by bacteria. The purpose of this study was a phytochemical screening test to determine what metabolites are contained and their potential activity against Staphylococcus aureus. The research method is to carry out a qualitative phytochemical screening test using reagents and an antibacterial potential test against Staphylococcus aureus using the Kirby-Bauer method (diffusion agar) with varying concentrations. The results showed that kemangi leaves extract showed positive results on the secondary metabolite compounds, were alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, glycosides, and steroids/triterpenoids. The diameter of the inhibition zone at a concentration of 500 mg/mL showed the diameter of the inhibition zone was 11.93 ± 0.25 mm with the strong category group. The conclusion is that the ethanolic extract of kemangi leaves shows the ethanolic extract of kemangi leaves has potential as an antibacterial.
