Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui daya terima masyarakat berdasatkan tingkat kesukaan rasa, aroma, warna, dan tekstur permen herbal dari kencur dan jahe merah . Penelitian ini dilakukan secara eksperimental menggunakan metode analisis statistik deskriptif. Hasil penelitian, menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada perbedaan signifikan terhadap tingkat kesukaan rasa, aroma, warna dan tekstur permen herbal dari kencur dan jahe merah (P>0,05) sehingga dapat disimpilkan bahwa masyarakat meyukai permen herbal dari kencur dan jahe merah.

Abstract

Prevalensi kanker di Indonesia cukup tinggi, menurut data Riset Kesehatan Dasar (Riskesdas) tahun 2007 terdapat  4,3 per 1000 penduduk menderita kanker. Sementara itu umumnya antineoplastik yang digunakan untuk pengobatan kanker menyebabkan toksisitas karena kerjanya yang kurang selektif. Oleh karena itu diperlukan penemuan obat baru dari tanaman sebagai alternatif pengobatan yang efektif dan aman.  Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk membuktikan adanya aktivitas antikanker ekstrak etanol rimpang temu mangga baik sebagai agen preventif maupun kuratif. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode eksperimental menggunakan mencit jantan sehat, dengan berat badan 20 – 30 g sebagai hewan percobaan. Ekstrak etanol rimpang temu mangga  diberikan kepada hewan uji dengan dosis 200, 400, dan 800 mg/kg BB. Pada uji antikanker sebagai agen preventif diberikan sediaan uji tersebut selama 7 hari, pada hari ke-8 diinduksi siklofosfamid secara parenteral. Tigapuluh jam kemudian hewan dibunuh dan dibedah. Darah  diambil  untuk penentuan nilai hematokrit dan sumsum tulang femur untuk pemeriksaan mikronukleusambil. Sedangkan pada uji antikanker sebagai agen kuratif hewan dinduksi siklofosfamid terlebih dahulu, 30 jam kemudian diberi sediaan uji selama 7 hari. Pada hari ke-8  hewan dibunuh dan dibedah, lalu diambil darah untuk penentuan nilai hematokrit dan sumsum tulang femur pemeriksaan mikronukleusambil. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui rimpang temu mangga menghambat pembentukan mikronukleus dan meningkatkan nilai hematokrit baik pada uji preventif maupun kuratif yang bermakna secara statistik (P0,05). Aktivitas terbaik tampak pada dosis 800 mg/kg BB dengan jumlah mikronukleus dan nilai hematokrit yang mendekati nilai pada kelompok yang diberi suspensi CMC 1%. Hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol rimpang temu mangga memiliki aktivitas antikanker baik sebagai agen preventif maupun kuratif.

Abstract

Watercress (Nasturtium officinale R. Br.) is an annual plant of the Brasicaceae family. Watercress has efficacy in the treatment of a hypo-allergenic, anti-diabetic, antioxidant, anticancer, and treatment of tuberculosis.The purpose of this research was to determine the potential for acute toxicity of ethanolic extract of watercress. This study aims to observe the histopathology liver , kidney , heart mice and to determine the LD50. Test animals used were 40 male mice and 40 female mice were divided into 8 groups. Group 1 as the control group were given Na – CMC 0,5 % b/v and groups 2-8 were given ethanol extract of watercress herb with a doses of  0,5; 5; 50 ; 500 ; 1000 ; 2000; and 4000 mg/kg bw . LD50 test is determined by the number of deaths in the test group during the 14 days of treatment in the form of one administration of the test materials. Histopathological results at the highest doses showed necrosis and hydropic degeneration of the liver, serosis the kidneys, and the heart inflammation with myofibril irregular heart. LD50 test demonstrated the practical test material is not toxic because no test animals died.Keywords: acute toxicity, Nasturtium officinale R. Br., Ethanolic extract

Abstract

Lack of understanding of hypertension and its prevention in the community and still lack of health checks such as blood pressure and cholesterol checks so that the need and importance of community service in order to prevent comorbid diseases Covid-19. One way to prevent Covid-19 comorbid disease is to educate about hypertension, symptoms / signs and prevention against hypertension so that the public knows more about hypertension and can prevent suffering from hypertension, as well as free health checks that include blood pressure and cholesterol checks in the community in Jati Karya village, North Binjai sub-district and this is the purpose of this community service activity. Active Participant Community Based conducted in the form of training with the Active Participants Learning method and conducted health examinations including blood pressure and cholesterol checks, as well as monitoring and evaluation activities of community service. The results of the pre-test and post-test analysis based on the T-test showed a significant increase in patient knowledge (p<0.05).

Abstract

Degenerative disease is a disease experienced by many people, such as hypertension, coronary heart disease, diabetes mellitus, gout, and others. Pharmacists play a role in providing information and education about health, primarily pharmacological and non-pharmacological drugs. The purpose of the activity is to increase public understanding regarding degenerative diseases from the side of treatment by pharmacists by adopting a healthy lifestyle and understanding the importance of health checks as the first step to early detection of degenerative diseases. The implementation method is in the form of health checks in the form of blood pressure, cholesterol, uric acid, and blood sugar levels so that it can be early detection of degenerative diseases. Information and counseling services by pharmacists regarding healthy lifestyles and information related to treatment and degenerative diseases using brochures and individual direct delivery. The activity was carried out in Ndokum Siroga Village, Karo Regency. The service results were carried out at the village hall with 35 participants. The activity was full of enthusiasm, and many questions arose during the service by the pharmacist. It is known that participants' understanding of degenerative diseases is very low, with only 24% who know about degenerative diseases, 32% who know the symptoms of the disease, 27% who know the risks, and 30% who apply preventive and promotive efforts. 14% of participants do not know that they have the degenerative disease, so it can be concluded that this activity is very helpful and provides good benefits to the community.

Abstract

Good drug management including planning, procurement, storage, distribution, destruction, recording and reporting is one of the tasks of the North Sumatra Provincial Health Office and HIV Services in the Regency/City. The purpose of this study was to analyze the drug management of the Antiretroviral program drugs in 2019 and 2020 at the Pharmacy Warehouse of the Health Office of North Sumatra Province, the Pharmacy Installation of Pirngadi Hospital Medan, and Pharmacy Installation at HKBP Balige Hospital. The research was conducted in January-April 2021. This research is descriptive with quantitative data obtained retrospectively and concurrently, qualitative data obtained through observation and interviews with informants. The data obtained were analyzed using indicators and compared to standard research results. The results showed in the North Sumatra Provincial Health Office 5 indicators have not met the standards and 9 indicators have met the standards, in Pirngadi Hospital Medan 4 indicators have not met the standards and 8 indicators have met the standards, but have not done the process of planning drug needs, and in HKBP Balige Hospital there are no indicators that meet the standards and do not do the planning of drug needs. The conclusion of this study is drug planning at the North Sumatra Provincial Health Office using the consumption method of the previous period. Pirngadi Hospital Medan and HKBP Balige Hospital did not plan for drug needs. Drug distribution at the North Sumatra Provincial Health Office uses a decentralized system starting in 2020 from the previous centralized system. In Pirngadi Hospital Medan the system is decentralized, while at HKBP Balige Hospital the distribution system is centralized.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease that occurs when the body cannot produce enough insulin or cannot use insulin (insulin resistance) and diagnosed by measuring blood glucose level (BGL). BGLs of DM patients should always be controlled to prevent complications. The purpose of this analytical cohort study was to analyze the effect of pharmacy intervention (PI) on BGL, adherence, and quality of life (QOL) of DM Type 2 (T2DM) patients (n=48) admitted to Dr. Tengku Mansyur hospital in Tanjung Balai period December 2020 to May 2021. The BGL, adherence, and QOL of the patients were compared before and after PIs. The patients’ BGLs were recruited from their medical records, their adherence to medication was analyzed using MMAS-8 questionnaire, and the patients QOLs were analyzed using the EQ-5D-3L questionnaire and the scores were categorized into 3 categories (< 0.60 = bad, 0.6 - <0.80 = moderate, ≥0.80 = good). The obtained data were analyzed using descriptive and Wilcoxon Signed-Rank tests in the SPSS Program. Mean age of the patients was 59.20 ± 8.20 (years). Most (58.3%) of them were females. The mean BGLs (mg/dL) of the patients: before PI 1, 262.02±5.91; before PI 2, 259.39±5.53; after PI, 202.35±4.80; and follow up after PI, 168.60±3.07. The mean adherence scores: before PI 1, 4.833 ± 0.08; before PI 2 4.70±0.07; after PI 6.833±0.09; follow up after PI 7.793±0.05. The mean QOLs of the patients: before PI 1, 0.719±0.005; before PI 2, 0.719±0.001; after PI, 0.801±0.009; follow up after PI 0.977 ± 0.009. There were significant differences among BGLs, patients’ adherence, and their QOLs before and after PI. p=0.000 The present study proved that PI improved medication adherence, BGLs, and QOLs of outpatients with T2DM.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the characterization of red algae simplicia and the amount of yield obtained from the manufacture of red algae ethanol extract using the soxhletation method. Red algae were taken from Banggai Islands Regency, South Sulawesi and processed into dry simplicia and characterized by macroscopic examination, determination of water content, content of water soluble extract and ethanol, total ash content and acid insoluble ash content. Simplicia was extracted using 96% ethanol solvent by soxhletation method and calculated the amount of yield obtained. Macroscopic observation of red algae simplicia obtained a brown coarse powder accompanied by a distinctive taste and odor. Determination of the water content of simplicia obtained 7.21%, water soluble extract content 31.54%, ethanol soluble extract content 17.27%, total ash content 33, 96% and 11.42% acid insoluble ash content. The ethanolic extract of red algae using the soxhletation method was obtained as much as 68.92 grams with a total extract yield of 13.78%. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the simplicia characterization of red algae meets the requirements and has a large extract yield.

Abstract

Free radical damage to the body can be prevented and repaired using antioxidants. Various natural ingredients native to Indonesia contain antioxidants, which are needed to improve people's health at an affordable cost. Puguntano (Picria fel-terrae) and Andaliman (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC.) are natural ingredients that can be used as antioxidants. This research determined the antioxidant activity and differences in IC50 values of hydroalcoholic extracts from Puguntano (Picria fel-terrae Lour) herbs and Andaliman (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium Fruits). Hydroalcoholic extracts were prepared by maceration using 90%, 80%, 70%, 60% and 50% ethanol. Antioxidant capacity was measured using the CUPRAC method, and quercetin was used as a positive control. The results were showed that the IC50 value for hydroalcoholic extracts of Puguntano herbs (27.02 ± 0.15 µg/mL, 25.94 ± 0.22 µg/mL, 25.12 ±0.15 µg/mL, 22.07 ± 0.23 µg/mL, and 23.86 ±0.18 µg/mL) and for Andaliman fruits (41.65 ± 0.30 µg/mL, 36.59 ± 0.40 µg/mL, 34.13 ± 0.44 µg/mL, 25.46 ± 0.30 µg/mL, 25.39 ± 0.30 µg/mL) respectively and quercetin 2.21 ± 0.02 µg/mL. Hydroalcoholic extracts of Puguntano herbs and Andaliman fruits have antioxidant activity, with each concentration having an IC50 of less than 50 µg/mL. The test sample's antioxidant activity is indicated by its lower IC50 value.

Abstract

Accreditation is a method to improve the quality of health services, so that it is expected that the services provided are in accordance with established regulations. This study aims the implementation of Pharmaceutical Service Standards (PCSs) and patient satisfaction on accreditation status and types of PHCs in Deli Serdang Regency, Sumatera Utara. This descriptive analytical cross-sectional study was conducted to analyze pharmacy services at PHCs (n=34) in Deli Serdang Regency. The reference used is the Checklist for PCSs based on direct observations and interviews with the person in charge of pharmacy and the Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire. The data obtained were analyzed using SPSS version 22. The results on the value of a total score PCSs showed 41-90, with the highest level of patient satisfaction is the very satisfied category is 65.90%.The correlation test was analyzed using the Chi-Square test with a significance limit of p<0.05, the correlation of accreditation status to the implementation of PCSs showed a value of p=0.304, the correlation of the type of service to the implementation of PCSs showed a value of p=0.591, the correlation of the accreditation status of PHCs to the level of satisfaction patient value showed a value of p=0.000. This study concluded that the accreditation status of the PHCs does not affect implementation of PCSs, the type of PHCs service does not affect implementation of PCSs and the accreditation status of the PHCs has an effect on the level of patient satisfaction in Deli Serdang Region, Sumatera Utara.
