Abstract

PT Petrokimia Gresik, as one of the largest fertilizer producers in Indonesia, faces serious constraints regarding the quality and timeliness of coating oil raw material deliveries. Inconsistent supply from several suppliers impacts the quality of the final product and the production process. Therefore, selecting the right supplier is crucial and must be done systematically. This research uses the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (Fuzzy AHP) method, a multi-criteria decision-making method capable of accommodating uncertainty and subjectivity in assessments. Using this method, all supplier selection criteria are evaluated comprehensively to determine the best alternative. The final result shows that PT B is the most optimal choice with the highest preference value. In its efforts to maintain the production of quality fertilizer, PT Petrokimia Gresik faces a significant challenge stemming from a fertilizer coating raw material: coating oil. The main issues arise from inconsistent product quality and delivery delays from several suppliers, which impact operational efficiency and have the potential to disrupt the production process. Consequently, the company requires an evaluation approach that is not only rational but also capable of encapsulating the complexity and uncertainty in the decision-making process. This research employs the Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (Fuzzy AHP) method as a tool to assess and determine the best supplier based on a number of strategic criteria. Fuzzy AHP was chosen due to its advantage in capturing subjective perceptions and converting them into more measurable and accurate quantitative data. Through this approach, all supplier alternatives were systematically compared based on six main criteria and 17 sub-criteria. The final results indicate that PT B is the most superior alternative, based on the highest preference score and consistent performance in aspects of quality and timeliness.

Abstract

Indonesia memiliki potensi besar dalam komoditas kelapa, di mana proses pemarutan menjadi tahap krusial dalam rantai produksinya. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan pada UMKM Berkah Kelapa di Kabupaten Batang yang masih menggunakan mesin pemarut sederhana dengan sistem pengisian manual. Kondisi tersebut menyebabkan rendahnya produktivitas, kelelahan operator akibat kerja berulang, serta tingginya risiko kecelakaan kerja karena posisi tangan yang dekat dengan pisau pemarut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah merancang mesin pemarut kelapa dengan sistem corong (hopper) yang lebih efisien, ergonomis, dan aman. Metodologi perancangan yang digunakan meliputi analisis kebutuhan fungsional dan non-fungsional, penerapan prinsip Product Design and Development, serta integrasi aspek ergonomi melalui data antropometri (tinggi siku, bahu, pinggang, dan lutut berdiri) untuk memastikan kenyamanan operator. Hasil rancangan berupa mesin pemarut dengan sistem corong memungkinkan pengisian beberapa butir kelapa sekaligus yang bergerak secara otomatis ke ruang pemarutan, sehingga menghilangkan kebutuhan penekanan manual oleh operator. Analisis ekonomi teknik juga dilakukan untuk menjamin kelayakan investasi mesin ini bagi UMKM. Implementasi mesin baru ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kapasitas produksi harian secara signifikan sekaligus meningkatkan standar keselamatan kerja di UMKM Berkah Kelapa.

Abstract

Manual Material Handling (MMH) activities at small and medium industries (SMI) frequently expose workers to musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) risks due to the absence of ergonomic assistive tools. This study presents the systematic design and development of a goods trolley for IKM Virgo Snack using the French product design method integrated with multiple Body of Knowledge (BOK) perspectives: Product Design and Development, Ergonomics and Human Factors, Design and Manufacturing Engineering, Occupational Safety, and Engineering Economics Analysis. Anthropometric data (n=30) covering standing elbow height, shoulder width, and grip diameter were collected and subjected to adequacy, uniformity, and percentile analyses to determine appropriate dimensions. Three conceptual designs were evaluated through a weighted decision matrix, and Concept 2 — a flat-platform trolley with stainless steel frame, ergonomic angled handle, and wheel locking stopper — was selected. The final design dimensions are: handle height 72 cm, platform width 45 cm, platform depth 85 cm, and wheel diameter 4 inches. Safety analysis using the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) method estimated a risk score of 3–5, indicating low to medium risk. Economic feasibility analysis using Net Present Value (NPV) and Payback Period (PP) methods yielded NPV = Rp 2,486,767 (NPV > 0) and PP = ±11 months, confirming financial viability. The manufacturing cost of Rp 707,400 is 29.4% lower than comparable commercial products, while offering enhanced safety features. This study demonstrates a replicable, data-driven framework for ergonomic tool design in SMI contexts.
