Abstract

AbstrakGaya kognitif perlu diketahui untuk membantu pemilihan metode pengajaran yang sesuai kebutuhan siswa dalam belajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Conceptual Understanding Procedures (CUPs) berbantuan media handout terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis ditinjau dari gaya kognitif. Penelitian eksperimen semu ini menggunakan posttest-only control design. Populasi pada penelitian ini mencakup seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP di kota Metro. Penentuan sampel menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling. Sampel penelitian adalah 41 siswa (22 di kelas eksperimen dan 19 di kelas kontrol). Pengujian hipotesis menggunakan uji anava dua jalan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian didapatkan kesimpulan bahwa model pembelajaran CUPs berbantuan media handout mempunyai pengaruh terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa, gaya kognitif field independent dan field dependent mempunyai pengaruh terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa dan tidak ada interaksi antara model pembelajaran dan tipe gaya kognitif terhadap kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa.  CUPs Learning Model Assisted by Media Handout: Impact on Ability to Understand Mathematical Concepts in Terms of Cognitive StyleAbstractCognitive styles need to be known to help select teaching methods that are suitable for students' needs in learning. This study aims to determine the effect of the Conceptual Understanding Procedures (CUPs) learning model assisted by handout media on the ability to understand mathematical concepts in terms of cognitive style. This quasi-experimental research used a posttest-only control design. The population in this study includes all students of class VIII SMP in the city of Metro. Determination of the sample using cluster random sampling technique. The research sample was 41 students (22 in the experimental class and 19 in the control class). Hypothesis testing using two-way ANOVA test. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that the CUPs learning model assisted by handout media had an influence on students' mathematical concept understanding abilities, field-independent and field-dependent cognitive styles had an influence on students' mathematical concept understanding abilities and there was no interaction between learning models and types of cognitive styles on understanding abilities. students' mathematical concepts.

Abstract

Kemampuan berpikir kreatif penting dimiliki agar dapat dimanfaatkan ketika melakukan penyelesaian masalah matematis. Penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dilakukan guna mengetahui kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa SMP ditinjau dari Adversity Quotient. Penelitian dilakukan pada 6 siswa kelas VIII di salah satu SMP di Belitang.  Keenam siswa dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui pemberian tes, angket, dan melakukan wawancara mendalam. Analisis data dilakukan dengan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa tipe AQ climbers mampu memenuhi indikator fluency, flexibility, dan novelty, siswa tipe campers memenuhi indikator fluency dan flexibility, dan siswa tipe AQ quitters hanya memenuhi satu indikator yaitu fluency. Kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa berbeda-beda bergantung pada tipe Adversity Quotient yang dimiliki.The ability to think creatively is important to have so that it can be utilized when solving mathematical problems. Descriptive qualitative research was conducted to determine the creative thinking skills of junior high school students in terms of Adversity Quotient. The research was conducted on 6 grade VIII students at a junior high school in Belitang. The six students were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected by administering tests, and questionnaires, and conducting in-depth interviews. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The research findings show that AQ climbers-type students can meet the indicators of fluency, flexibility, and novelty, campers-type students fulfill the indicators of fluency and flexibility, and AQ quitters-type students only fulfill one indicator, namely fluency. Students' mathematical creative thinking ability varies depending on the type of Adversity Quotient they have.

Abstract

Banyak siswa kesulitan memahami konsep laju karena pembelajaran masih bersifat teoritis dan kurang relevan dengan pengalaman mereka. Sehingga penelitian ini ditujukan untuk menghasilkan learning trajectory materi laju menggunakan konteks membajak sawah. Penelitian ini melibatkan siswa kelas VII di salah satu SMP negeri di Belitang. Pengumpulan data melalui lembar aktivitas siswa dan lembar observasi. Penelitian menggunakan design research tipe validation studies yang terdiri dari tiga tahap penelitian yakni preparation experiment, design experiment dan retrospective analysis. Penelitian memberikan hasil bahwa learning trajectory materi laju terdiri dari tiga tahapan yakni mengeksplorasi kegiatan membajak sawah dengan mencari perbandingan antara luas sawah dengan waktu membajak sawah; menentukan satuan dari luas sawah dengan waktu membajak sawah, dan mendiskusikan definisi laju serta melakukan penyelesaian masalah tentang laju. Konteks membajak sawah memudahkan siswa untuk memahami konsep laju secara lebih konkret dan aplikatif. Melalui hasil penelitian ini memberikan masukan bahwa dalam mengajarkan materi laju, perlu mengintegrasikan dengan konteks realistic yang berada disekitar siswa. Many students have difficulty understanding the concept of rate because learning is still theoretical and less relevant to their experience. So, this research is aimed at producing a learning trajectory for rate material using the context of plowing rice fields. This research involved class VII students at one of the state junior high schools in Belitang. Data collection through student activity sheets and observation sheets. The research uses validation studies type design research which consists of three research stages, namely preparation experiment, design experiment and retrospective analysis. The research shows that the learning path for rate material consists of three stages, namely exploring the activity of plowing rice fields by finding a comparison between the area of ​​the rice field and the time for plowing the field, determining the unit of area of ​​the rice field with the time for plowing the field, and discussing the definition of rate and solving problems regarding rate. The context of plowing rice fields makes it easier for students to understand the concept of rate in a more concrete and applicable way. The results of this research provide input that in teaching rate material, it is necessary to integrate it with realistic contexts that surround students.

Abstract

Proportional reasoning is a crucial skill that students need to master to achieve success in learning mathematics at both the elementary and secondary levels. This study aimed to identify the strategies junior high school students used when solving proportional reasoning problems related to ratios and proportions. This qualitative descriptive research was conducted on six seventh-grade students at a junior high school in Belitang, selected through purposive sampling. Data was collected using tests and interviews and analyzed descriptively. Data validity was ensured through triangulation techniques. The findings revealed that students with low abilities used a repeated addition strategy to solve proportional reasoning problems. Meanwhile, students with medium abilities employed the multiplication strategy but occasionally made errors using the additive strategy—students with high abilities predominantly used multiplicative strategies. The study suggests that students with medium abilities do not consistently apply proper proportional reasoning strategies, highlighting a need for further research into their solution approaches. In addition, it is essential to design learning activities that specifically target the improvement of proportional reasoning skills for students with lower abilities, given the critical role this skill plays in mathematics education at both the primary and secondary levels.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a learning trajectory for ratio material using rice fertilization context. This study employed validation studies within a design research framework involving seventh-grade students at a junior high school in Belitang. Data was collected through student activity sheets, observations, and interviews. Design research consists of three stages: experimental preparation, experimental design, and retrospective analysis. The findings indicate that the learning trajectory for ratio material in the rice fertilization context includes identifying patterns and relationships between two quantities, determining the simplest unit ratios, representing ratios using ratios table, and solving real-world ratio-related problems. These results confirm that the designed learning trajectory serves as a practical reference for teachers in designing ratio learning that is meaningful, applicable, and relevant to the life experiences of students in agricultural areas, while supporting sustainable agriculture.

Abstract

Students' difficulties in understanding the concept of scale, both conceptually and applicative, are caused by learning that is still abstract and has minimal connection to the real context, so it is necessary to present learning that is more meaningful and applicable. This study aimed to produce a learning trajectory for the concept of scale through rice field size exploration using Google Earth. The approach employed was design research of validation studies type, which encompassed three stages: design preparation, design experiment, and retrospective analysis. The study was conducted at State Junior High School 1 Belitang involving two classes, eight students from class VII.3 and thirty-one students from class VII.4. Data was collected through student activity sheets, observations, and interviews, then analyzed qualitatively using descriptive methods with triangulation techniques. The results showed that learning trajectory for the concept of scale starting from measuring images, comparing sizes in images and actual sizes, making model representations through double number lines, discussing the concept of scale and applying scale in real calculations. The study implied the importance of contextual digital media in fostering meaningful and concrete understanding of mathematical concepts.

Abstract

A strong grasp of mathematical concepts is fundamental for developing problem-solving abilities. Yet, many fifth-graders struggle to master fraction operations, particularly addition and subtraction. This research investigates the efficacy of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model in enhancing students' conceptual mastery of mathematics. Utilizing a quasi-experimental quantitative design, the study was implemented at SDN 1 Number Sari, with participants selected via cluster random sampling—12 students in the experimental group and 16 in the control group. Data were gathered through conceptual understanding assessments and documentary analysis. The t-test revealed statistically significant outcomes (p= 0.017), while the effect size (d= 0.83) indicated a substantial practical impact, classifying CTL as highly effective. These findings demonstrate that CTL not only achieves statistical significance but also delivers meaningful educational improvements. Thus, CTL proves to be a powerful pedagogical strategy for advancing fifth-grade students’ comprehension of fractional operations.

Abstract

Pemahaman konsep merupakan hal yang perlu dimiliki siswa karena konsep-konsep dalam materi matematika saling berhubungan satu sama lain. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui desain pembelajaran materi rasio menggunakan konteks memasak nasi yang dapat membantu siswa Sekolah Dasar dalam memahami konsep rasio. Peneliti merancang lembar aktivitas siswa dengan konteks memasak nasi sebelum melakukan penelitian. Penelitian desain ini dilakukan pada siswa kelas VI salah satu SD Negeri di Belitang yang dilakukan dalam tiga tahap yaitu the preparing for the experiment, the design experiment, and retrospective analysis. Pengumpulan data melalui lembar aktivitas siswa dan wawancara. Teknik Miles dan Huberman digunakan untuk menganalisis data yang meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa desain pembelajaran materi rasio menggunakan konteks menanak nasi dapat membantu siswa dalam memahami konsep rasio. Lintasan pembelajaran terdiri dari empat aktivitas, yaitu (1) menonton video memasak nasi, (2) mengetahui hubungan jumlah nasi dengan jumlah air pada proses memasak nasi, (3) membuat tabel rasio tentang jumlah beras dan jumlah air yang dibutuhkan dalam proses memasak nasi, (4) menyimpulkan pengertian rasio berdasarkan aktivitas memasak nasi.
