Abstract

Implementation of increasing level of eye health using health education using color blind screening method in the Bulakdawung Study Group Kediri showed that increasing in the knowledge of parents and children regarding eye health through health education using color blind screening method with 100% results of not experiencing color blindness. Parents need to maintain eye health by providing nutrition/diet to children with a source of vitamin A, need to prevent eye trauma when children play, and to give health education to prevent eye trauma in children. In play groups, it is necessary to provide supplementary food rich sources of Vitamin A periodically every 2-3 months and eye health education to children in study groups.

Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is an infectious disease of upper and lower respiratory tract caused by infectious agents. ARI can be transmitted directly or indirectly. ARI attacks more common in children. The problem, many students infected with ARI and transmission of ARI is also high. This health education starting from requesting permission letters, making proposals. The community service aims to increase students' understanding of ARI and how to prevent it, which increasing the behavior of maintaining a clean and heathy life and reducing the prevalence rate of acute respiratory tract infections in students at Elementary School of Semampir I Kediri. The population is 28 of fifth grade students. The results of the pre-test given before the education was carried out showed that the number of students who scored in category of 39% poor, 54% moderate, and 7% good. Students can answer questions related to knowledge about preventing acute respiratory infections. In post-test result, students received scores in the categories of 14% poor, 47% moderate, and 39% good. Results were that health education regarding clean and healthy lifestyle with methods Power-Point and effective exercise to increase students' knowledge and awareness regarding preventing the transmission of ARI.

Abstract

The community tends to try to overcome health problems through easier and more cost-efficient methods. This triggers the tendency of the community to self-medicate. Self-medication is the use of drugs by individuals, not based on a doctor's prescription, but based on the individual's initiative. This community service aims to increase awareness of using drugs through Smart Community Movement Using Drugs (SCMUD) in the Bulakdawung community, Parang village, Banyakan district, Kediri regency. The activity was carried out on May 17, 2024, by providing Health Counseling to mothers who accompany their children to study groups, with lecture and question and answer methods, the media used was the leaflet of awareness of using drugs. The results of the activity were 21 mothers with most elementary school education backgrounds (80.95%), work as housewives (95.23%), less knowledge about awareness of using drugs (71.42%), good attitudes awareness of using drugs (66.67%) and drug use behavior in the family (80.9%) and those lacking 19.1%. After being given health education regarding the safe use of drugs through the Smart Community Movement Using Drugs, the community increasingly understands and carries out awareness to avoid the negative impacts of self-medication and provide appropriate treatment for family members who are sick and utilize health service centers appropriately. It was concluded that the activity can increase public awareness in the use of drugs through health counseling.

Abstract

This community service is based on the results of observations and research experiences during the implementation of learning to recognize vocabulary in the language development of children who are less able to understand the teacher's explanation, not all children can imitate vocabulary and mention it correctly. The purpose of this community service is to improve English language skills in recognizing ADL vocabulary with picture media using the Class Action approach in children at Kindergarten of PKK Parang 1, Bulakdawung, Kediri Regency, totaling 12 children. The results show that children's English skills in independence, and accuracy in children, most of the children have reached the Developing According to Expectations (Berkembang Sesuai Harapan) stage with the following details: for the independence aspect 79.17%, and for the accuracy aspect 72.92%. While the average percentage of all three reached 76.04%. Thus, it can be concluded that the hypothesis of action to improve children's language skills in the activity of recognizing ADL Vocabulary with picture media in children aged 5-6 years at Kindergarten of PKK Parang I, Bulakdawung, Kediri Regency can be accepted.
