Abstract

The communal domestic wastewater treatment plant functions to collect and treat domestic wastewater at the source location according to the communal scale treatment capacity. The communal Wastewater Treatment Plant (IPAL) in Suka Damai Hamlet, Siabu Village was built since 2017 using the Anaerobic Baffled Reactor (ABR) system. This study aims to evaluate the Communal IPAL by analyzing the quality of wastewater compared to PerMenLH No. 68 of 2016, calculating the effectiveness of WWTP, and analyzing community participation in IPAL management. To compare thequality of wastewater before and after treatment using the Paired t-test method with a significance level of 0.05%, Direct sampling of wastewater on-site in the morning and evening, each with three replications and then analized at the Riau University Fisheries Laboratory. The results showed that the quality of wastewater exceeds the quality standard for the Total Coliform parameter, while the pH, BOD, COD and TSS parameters do not exceed the environmental quality standard. The Communal IPAL at RT 01 RW 02 Dusun Suka Damai, Siabu Village has not been efficient in treating domestic wastewater and the role of the community is still at the level of manipulation. Communal WWTP management needs to be improved so that the effluent quality and processing efficiency values meet the predetermined regulatory standards.

Abstract

The increasing need for fuel derived from petroleum is also in line with the increased exploration and production activities of petroleum. Besides producing crude oil products, this activity also produces petroleum waste. This waste will pollute the soil which will have an impact on environmental damage, disruption of human health and other living things. Therefore according to Veegha (2008), an efficient and environmentally friendly method for treating petroleum waste is needed. One of the waste treatment methods is using phytoremediation method. Phytoremediation is defined as a technology for cleaning, removing or reducing harmful pollutants, such as heavy metals, pesticides, and toxic organic compounds in soil or water using the help of plants. This research was conducted for three months from September to November 2019 at the open nursery of PT. CPI with paranet shade 60%. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of bahia grass (P. notatum) in degrading Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon (TPH) in petroleum-contaminated soils in the Rokan Block PT. Chevron Pacific Indonesia and analyze the socio-economic impact of phytoremediation on local communities. The results showed that the effectiveness of Bahia (P. notatum) grass proved effective in reducing the concentration of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon (TPH) in petroleum-contaminated soils in the Rokan Block operating area of PT. Chevron Pacific Indonesia. The percentage of effectiveness shows a decrease in value of up to 58.38%. The socio-economic impact of phytoremediation on local communities has a positive impact with the planned phytoremediation activities using bahia grass with the community as work agents for planting the grass.

Abstract

ABSTRACTDomestic waste pollution has been among serious problem recently. Detergent contributed significantly lead to eutrophication as well as toxic to the environtment. A simple technology could be applicated by wetland system, in which bamboo were planted. The objective of the present study were to reduced level of detergent, Methylene Blue Active Substances (MBAS) by the bamboo wetland system. A laboratory experiment were conducted with Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors including initial MBAS concentration, and residence time. Factors operating conditions were performed following Taguchi Methods. It revealed that the system has MBAS reduction efficnicy of 85,11%. The residence time significantly reduce the detergent concentration with a regression Ŷ = 12.22-0.4X2, with coeficient determination R = 79,46, apparently, four factors; initial detergent concentration, residence time, aerobic condition, and soil type (Podzolik Red Yellow) that affect the decreasing of MBAS level, with percentage of 9,11%, 8,34%, 2,68%, and 0,29% respectively.Key words: management, detergent, bamboo

Abstract

In response to the increasing level of environmental pollution, the waste management of the health center is carried out. This study aims to determine the components in the treatment of liquid waste, the effectiveness of the quality of liquid waste and the impact of wastewater from the health center. The study population was all health centers in the city of Pekanbaru which amounted to 21. The number of samples was 8 health centers which were selected using purposive sampling technique. Research respondents consisted of the head of the health center, sanitarian staff, third parties from the health service and the community living around the health center. Analysis of the data used is descriptive analysis with comparative methods that is comparing the results of the analysis of the quality of wastewater with the quality standards of waste according to Minister of Environment Regulation numbers. 5 of 2014.The results of the study showed that the human resources of health center in the city of Pekanbaru were adequate, namely bachelor of environmental health. Fund allocation of 7 health centers is from the Pekanbaru City Health Office. The facilities and infrastructure of the WWTP (Water Waste Treatment Plan) health center have suffered a lot of damage such as sewerage, control tubs and WWTP machine cables. The wastewater treatment method used is biologically (bacteriology) mixed with chlorine and oxidation reduction. The liquid waste treatment of health centers in the city of Pekanbaru has not been effective. Only 1 health center that can be analyzed is the quality of WWTP with BOD results of 2.35 mg / L COD 100 mg / L, TSS 8 mg / L, temperature 31oC and pH 7.51. These results indicate that the COD parameter exceeds the specified quality standard of 80 mg / L. The results of interviews with the community around the health center indicate aspects of the community around the health center in the city of Pekanbaru. This is because soil and water pollution due to liquid waste cannot be directly felt, but requires a relatively long time.
