Abstract

In futsal, players are required to always move quickly and control the ball in order to increase their chances of scoring goals in the opponent's goal. This requires good physical condition, especially in the components of endurance, strength, speed, agility, flexibility and coordination. However, according to the results of observations and observations of athletes in the 12 year old birth category at the Gresik Futsal School, they showed weaknesses in their physical condition, especially in agility and speed. So this research aims to analyze the effect of providing two step ladder drill training on agility and speed in 12 year old athletes at the Gresik Futsal School. This research is a quantitative research with an experimental approach involving 14 samples. Data collection was carried out using the pretest and posttest method, then a statistical test was carried out in the form of a paired T test. Through this statistical test, for both agility and speed, a p-value of 0.000 was obtained. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of providing two step ladder drill training on increasing agility and speed in Gresik Futsal School athletes born aged 12 years.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the cardiovascular endurance level of the girls' basketball team at Aldabra Academy Surabaya. Cardiovascular endurance is a vital component of physical fitness that greatly influences athlete performance, particularly in basketball, which requires repeated and high-intensity physical activity. This study employed a descriptive quantitative method with a survey approach and utilized the Beep Test to estimate VO₂max values. The subjects consisted of 12 female basketball players from Aldabra Academy. The results showed that most players were in the good category (58.3%), followed by the very good category (33.3%), and only one player (8.3%) was in the fair category. The average VO₂max was 46.6 ml/kg/min with a standard deviation of 5.01 ml/kg/min, indicating a generally good and evenly distributed level of cardiovascular fitness within the team. These findings can serve as a reference for coaches in designing more focused training programs aimed at maintaining and improving aerobic capacity across the team.

Abstract

Sports are an important physical activity to engage in, but they can also lead to issues such as injuries, particularly for futsal players. The risk of injury is higher in sports that involve physical contact with opponents, such as futsal, and athletes who have experienced injuries may experience anxiety. This research used a cross-sectional design and a descriptive research methodology. The sample consisted of 18 respondents obtained through purposive sampling. Data analysis techniques used descriptive percentages. The results of the study showed that the anxiety levels of the respondents were categorized as “very low” 0 (0%), “low” 7 players (39%), “moderate” 3 players (16%), ‘high’ 7 players (39%), and “very high” 1 player (6%). Based on the average value of “27.11,” the anxiety level of UNESA futsal players falls into the “moderate” category. The injury levels of the respondents were as follows: “Level 1 injury” for 5 respondents (28%), “Level 2 injury” for 11 respondents (61%), and “Level 3 injury” for 2 respondents (11%). The injury levels of the respondents were categorized as “Level 2 Injury.” The conclusion of this study is categorized as “Moderate” with a percentage of 27.11%.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and compare the prevalence of eating disorders and body image disturbances among female athletes and non-athlete members of fitness clubs. Given the rising societal emphasis on physical appearance and performance, young women are increasingly exposed to unrealistic body ideals, potentially increasing the risk of psychological issues such as body dissatisfaction and disordered eating behaviors. The research employed a descriptive quantitative design involving 100 women aged 18–25 years, consisting of 50 athletes actively participating in competitive sports and 50 non-athletes who regularly attend fitness clubs for general health purposes. Data were collected using two standardized instruments: the Body Image Concern Inventory (BICI) to assess levels of body image disturbance, and the SCOFF questionnaire to screen for symptoms of eating disorders. Results indicated that 34% of female athletes reported high levels of body image disturbance, compared to only 2% of non-athletes. Additionally, symptoms of eating disorders were present in 54% of athletes, while 14% of non-athletes showed similar tendencies. Statistical analyses using Mann-Whitney U and independent samples t-tests confirmed a significant difference between the two groups (p < 0.05), suggesting that athletes may be at a higher risk for developing these psychological issues. These findings underscore the psychological pressures faced by female athletes, who are often required to maintain specific body standards to meet performance expectations. The study highlights the urgent need for preventive measures, including psychological support services and educational interventions that promote healthy body image and eating habits. Implementing such programs in both sports and general fitness environments can help reduce the prevalence of these disorders and foster a healthier relationship with body image among young women.

Abstract

The performance of pencak silat athletes is influenced by several important factors including physical condition, technique, tactics and psychology. This study aims to determine the body composition, level of nutritional knowledge, and endurance of pencak silat athletes. The type of quantitative research uses a non-experimental observational research design, the participants of this study were 20 Lumajang pencak silat athletes, consisting of 9 male athletes and 11 female athletes. The data in this study were obtained from body composition measurements using the Onemed 825 scan body fat scale, nutritional knowledge level tests from the adoption of the Nutrition for Young and Adult Athlete (NUKYA) questionnaire, and endurance tests using the Beep test. The results of the study showed differences in body composition in male and female athletes in terms of body weight indicators, Fat Free Mass (FFM), Skeletal Muscular Mass (SMM) and Body Mass Index (BMI). The athlete's body composition must be improved in the upper extremity muscle mass of the left and right arms and left and right fitness for female and male athletes and reduce fat mass for female athletes. The level of nutritional knowledge is higher for male athletes with fairly good scores and good endurance levels for both female and male athletes. For coaches, it is recommended to provide weight training programs for athletes with Circuit Training and for athletes to be more active in reading and understanding athlete nutritional knowledge.
