Abstract

As a Sufi as well as the greatest poet in Islamic history, Jalaluddin Rumi has many things to study, starting from religious mode to his works that have become a conversation in the scientific treasures of both West and East. This is inseparable from the message that Rumi wants to covey that seem to flow in his verses. This type of research is library research, namely research that collects data through literature, be it books, articles, magazines and so on. The approach used in this research is a philosophical approach, namely the approach taken to systematically reason and organize certain data. The nature of this research is descriptive, namely the systematic decomposition of the data obtained which is then given an explanation and understanding so that it can be understood by the reader. The results of this study indicate that Jalaluddin Rumi has or is at the level of religious maturity. This can be seen from his poems which reflect Rumi’s thoughts and personality starting from closeness to God, love and so on.

Abstract

Today's culture or tradition is filled with cultural values or local wisdom and has economic and political content. It causes the opening of space for cultural capitalization that prioritizes selling or exchanging values and not using values. The study aims to explore the cultural commodification that occurs in the Bau Nyale tradition in the Sasak NTB community, including the existence of the Bau Nyale tradition, the commodification of Bau Nyale, to the value transformation and shifting in the Bau Nyale tradition in the Sasak NTB community. This study is qualitative research with primary data sources, namely community leaders such as Adat and the Sasak people in general. The data obtained through interviews, books, and articles are then interpreted using the commodity approach of Karl Marx. The analysis results show that the Bau Nyale tradition in the Sasak community today is not just a tradition of catching Nyale (sea worms) for the Sasak people. More than that, the Bau Nyale tradition has various dimensions and goals, including economics. In this case, Bau Nyale has become a secondary activity as an activity or tradition that follows the primary activity, namely economic activity. The commodification that occurs in the Bau Nyale tradition in the Sasak community causes a shift in orientation and even raises social problems such as gambling, fights, and even murder cases.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the revitalization of self-identity within the Penelando Islamic indigenous community of the Sasak people in response to global cultural change. As globalization intensifies, indigenous communities face increasing challenges in preserving their cultural and religious identity while adapting to external influences. The Penelando community represents a unique case of cultural resilience, where tradition and modernity intersect. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with a sociological perspective, this research collects data through in-depth interviews with community members and stakeholders, as well as a literature review of relevant books and journal articles. The findings indicate that the Penelando Islamic indigenous community embodies an acculturative cultural-religious identity, reflected in their adaptive strategies, such as integrating modern agricultural practices with traditional belief systems. Traditional stakeholders play a critical role in maintaining communal identity by negotiating cultural continuity and change. Their accommodative stance allows them to selectively adopt global elements while preserving core values. This study contributes to the discourse on indigenous identity preservation by highlighting the dynamic interplay between local traditions and global influences. Further research is needed to explore similar adaptive strategies among other indigenous communities facing globalization, particularly in regions experiencing rapid socio-cultural transformation.

Abstract

The development of a knowledge system that has an impact on the emergence of a modern leadership system or pattern does not necessarily shift the local leadership pattern of the community. This paper aims to explore the pattern of Mangku leadership authority in the social life of the Sasak community including the role and pattern of Mangku leadership authority. This paper is based on qualitative research with primary data sources, namely Mangku, traditional leaders and the Sasak community in general. The data obtained through the interview method is then interpreted using Max Weber's leadership approach. The results of the analysis show that the existence of Mangku in the social life of the Sasak community serves to maintain identity and examine the values ??that enter. In addition, Mangku has the authority to regulate the community and become a reference for the community in acting and making decisions. This is due to the hereditary Mangku leadership authority based on traditions and community belief systems. Given the constantly changing nature of the pattern of leadership authority, it is necessary to carry out further research with a wider reach and informants, in order to identify issues that have not been revealed.

Abstract

Religious plurality has the highest positive-negative potential among several aspects of plurality that exist. This is inseparable from the multifaces of religion. This paper aims to explore the role of Pecalang in maintaining religious plurality on Lombok Island by focusing on three problem formulations, namely: how Pecalang are in religious plurality on Lombok Island, how Pecalang as a minority group and the face of plurality on Lombok Island, and how Pecalang maintain religious plurality on Lombok Island. This paper is based on qualitative research with data sources from the Sasak and Balinese communities on Lombok Island. The data obtained through the interview method were then interpreted using Talcott Parsons' structural functional theory. The results of the analysis show that Pecalang as a task force that is traditionally a Balinese Hindu culture in the midst of the Sasak Muslim community is a fact of religious plurality on Lombok Island. Pecalang as a Balinese Hindu minority group living in the midst of the Sasak Muslim majority tries to maintain or safeguard the peace, security and stability of religious plurality on Lombok Island. This can be seen from how Pecalang adapts, sets shared social goals, integrates or cooperates with other community groups, and maintains stability by conducting "dialogue" with other religious groups. Given the importance of plurality stability in the midst of community life, studies related to plurality in society need to be developed. This is done in order to maintain community stability and identify problems that have not been identified.
