Abstract

ABSTRACTThe low student learning outcomes due to the lack of biological activity of students , lack of facilities and infrastructure in schools and students in understanding the difficulty of the material being studied . One way to improve student learning outcomes by applying active methods type Guided Note Taking . This study aimed to determine the effect of the application of active methods type Guided Note Taking on learning outcomes biology class VII SMPN 3 South Solok the academic year 2012/2013.This type of research is experimental research . The population in this study were students of class VII SMPN 3 South Solok the academic year 2012/2013 which consists of 4 classes . Sampling was purposive sampling techniques , in order to obtain samples of the class 2 class VII.B as the experimental class and the control class VII.D class . From the results of experimental studies it appears that the class average value of 73.13 while the control class had an average score of 56.48 .the result of hypothesis test obtained ttable the level of confidence 95%= (α=0,05) is 1,67 and tacount =7,43 it meant tacount>ttable therefore, the hypothesis in this  search is received . It can be concluded that the type of active learning methods Guided Note Taking biology to improve learning outcomes of students of class VII SMPN 3 South Solok the academic year 2012/2013 .

Abstract

ABSTRACT Low learning outcomes at biology of students are caused by many factors , such as lack of student motivation to read and understand the material in learning biology , students tend to be passive in learning and teaching is dominated by the lead teacher resulting student learning outcomes is still below the minimum completeness  criteria  defined  by  school.  One  solution  that  can  be  done  to overcome these problems is to use learning strategies preview, question, read, reflect, Recite, review ( PQ4R ). This study aims to look at the application of learning strategies PQ4R on learning outcomes at biology of class X student of SMAN 4 Padang school year 2012/2013.This study was conducted in April-May. Experiment with this type of research study design randomized Only Control Group Design. The study population was all class X SMAN 4 Padang. Sampling was done by purposive sampling, whereas the control determination of class  and class control done by lottery, so we get the X4 as class experiment with the number of students 32 and X1 as an experimental class control by the number of students  32.  The  instrument  used  in  this  study  is  a  test  of  student  learning outcome. Based on the analysis results obtained by the average test results of the experimental  study  on  class  is  78.68  and  standard  deviation  9.63,  while  the average achievement test control class   74.46 and standard deviation 7.17. The data obtained were analyzed using t-test. Based on the analysis of data in the form of hypothesis testing performed, obtained t = 2 t-table = 1.645. Therefore t > t- table, then the hypothesis is accepted, it means that the learning outcomes of students in learning biology is becoming more increases. Application of learning strategies PQ4R has positive effects on learning outcomes at biology of class X student SMAN 4 Padang school year 2012/2013.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The background of this research is the low yields of learning outcomes at Biology of SMA  N 2 Koto  XI Tarusan,  shown  by the average daily test  of students on the material ecosystem Biology and environmental pollution which are still under Complete Minimal Criteria   established the school. To overcome these problems, the teachers need to be creative using appropriate teaching strategies so that the learning can increase students motivation and interest. One of the strategies that requires involvement of the student is to implement an active learning strategy named The Power Of Two  and Student Worksheet. This study aimed to examine the effects The Power Of Two strategy to learning outcomes at Biology of Class X SMA N 2 Koto XI Tarusan Academic Year 2012/2013. When the study was conducted in May 2013, this type of research is experimental with a population  of  class  X  SMA  N  2  Koto  XI Tarusan  listed  in  the  school  year2012/2013 as many as 248 students and grouped into 8 classes, while the sample is X1 class as a class experiments  and class control X3 as the experimental class were taken by using purposive random sampling technique. The study design was a randomized Only Control Group Design. Based on the analysis results, obtained average achievement test on the experimental class was 70.25 and standard deviation  6.38,  while  the  average  achievement  test  class  control  standard deviation of 61.61 and 12.48 after testing with the t-test obtained t = 3.34 and t- table = 1.6705 means that t > t table, then the hypothesis in this study with 95 % confidence interval is received. It can be concluded that the use of The Power Of Two strategy with Student Worksheet has good effects on learning outcomes at Biology of class X SMAN 2 Koto XI Tarusan Academic Year 2012/2013. Â
